Fr fr you should have put "brief" somewhere in the title. I liked the first few minutes because of all the extra information but after the first 2 seasons you just watered down to the same 3 bullet points of: what was added, what was removed and who won worlds. You didnt even went into too much detail on what exactly got changed. You also missed mayor things you could have spoken about like the ZzRot meta, the aatrox rework, the king of bugs viego,the former king of bugs Mordekaiser, the sentinel of lights events and so on. + Some stuff that you could have said so much more about just got watered down into a simple joke like 'everyone hates yuumi' When talking about meta in all the seasons your input wasnt more than "yes the meta has indeed shifted". Early things like ap yi or eve stacking sunfire could have been mentioned and stuff like the yi Taric funnel meta. You could have also spoken like 1 more sentence about the other riot projects with the runeterra IP. But nah you only mentioned arcane, because ofcourse you had to. Project L or the ruined king game or stuff from riot forge didnt got mentioned This wasnt a documentary about leagues history this felt more like someone rushing down bullet points while skipping lots of details to fit in a certian timeframe. The video editing was good tho.

Great video, gave me loads of memories from those early league days even though I don't play much anymore, and your content has been insanely good lately. Love finding a channel that doesn't ponder to the algorithm as much and does their own thing. Only upwards from here :)
I feel like you're skipping things xD It didn't go from a global gold dragon to elemental dragons. There was a period in between where dragons gave predetermined buffs to your whole team depending on how many you've taken that game. The buffs were the same every game.
Great vid, some corrections: the first twisted treeline (pre 2012 rework) did not have vilemaw, rather it was a black dragon that you can see at 4:43, garrison was dominion specific summoner spell and observer was never available to players only Riot staff for tournament purposes

Amazing video! As someone thats played since season 2 its crazy seeing how much has changed over time. One thing is, the most CS in a pro game actually goes to Teddy in 2018 in Korea, in also the longest game ever at 94:40 on the timer, Teddy had 1465 CS on Sivir
It's hard to explain to someone just how big Dota was in Warcraft 3. Just for reference, WC3 itself was so big that a lobby being opened up was filled with 12 players 1-2 seconds later, it was insanely difficult to play with friends unless you were able to host. I didnt like Dota, but literally half of the custom maps hosted were Dota, and there were like thousands of games at the same time per server - which is insane if you consider that they only appear in the list as they look for players, which again is done within seconds. Once the game starts it's off the list. It was also the first (as far as I recall) custom map that implemented it's own ranked system, which simply wasn't given for custom games. Once it became it's own thing and exploded, I was actually quite surprised nothing else was used from WC3 for so long. DotA Underlords/TFT/Hearthstone Battlegrounds was the first one after so many years, which was based on Legion TD. It doesn't resemble that much anymore nowadays, but if you saw the first version of DotA Underlords (whatever it was called as a mod for Dota) it looked very similar and followed the same concept. While WC3 also had a ton of tower defense games, these kinda existed since forever, so I wouldn't credit anything to the playerbase there - I mean, DotA kinda already existed in Starcraft, but it wasn't really popular at all, WC3 blew it up. Really hoped someone would pick up Island Defense, which was the mode I played most. You have 10 defenders and 1 titan. The defenders are really weak but can build buildings, workers, towers and walls. Point is to hide and last until you gathered enough ressources to build a base. The Titan uses various items he can buy to scout the players and kill them before they reach that point, though depending on the titan/his efficiency/his judgement of whether to kill a specific player or use them to farm, he was even able to take down strong bases unless players combined their effort and were able to farm gold. Which was done in the middle at the shops of the Titan, being fully exposed and vulnerable, so a huge risk but a huge reward. "Crazy that in Season 2 League had 3 maps, and in Season 13 it has 1" Sad ARAM noises

To be clear, I've been subbed to you for a while and enjoy your regular content a lot, and I also appreciate the work you put into a larger scale video like this. However, I feel like you only skimmed the surface of what a retrospective of league history could be. I felt like so many of the seasons you went over had more/better info to include that defined them, and before I could even blink, you were already mentioning who won worlds that year and transitioning to the next season. I hope you continue to experiment with big projects like this and can't way to see them get better and better!

Funny how people say that League is dying and players are leaving, meanwhile it currently has like the highest number of active players. It's just an assumption made by people getting older, who interact with people who are older, same as them, who might just not play or enjoy League as much anymore. It doesn't change the fact that new players new always coming in and are more than those who stop playing.

Logic: lol is easily accessible since it can be run on a potato, is simple and has easy learning curve and has characters that appeal to horny teenagers. Personal experience: when I was 13-14 me and my entire school played league and I and many of my friends reached plat while some reached diamond(all this while going to school and playing other games). As I grew older less and less people were playing it and now I don't know a single 20y old or above that plays it. I switched to dota few years back and since it has voice chat I encountered 0 children...0...while in league discord like 50% are clearly children.
ngl i feel season 14 and 15 will be freaking amazing maybe bc i emptied all my negatives for league earlier in the season (with the cinematic) and maybe not idk also season 13 will probably be pretty decent or really good depending on how good the summer event is and how the new champs are

Thanks for the overview. Every year has been a big year for LOL until 2021. It seems like we're still in 2020. I still have high hopes since Riot addressed the issues, but they need to step up in 2023. They have broken quite a few promises in the past couple of years and this really has to stop. If it wasn't for their amazing history, they wouldn't have any credibility left. But it's still Riot. Even though a lot of the actual people have moved around. Phreak being on the balance team is one of the best things they could have done. While they are slowly ramping up for post-covid innovations (at least I hope so), he keeps the game fresh patch by patch. Surely I'm giving him too much credit, because he's just one part of the balance team, but I feel like he brings a refreshing look into the balance team and most importantly, the fact how he explains everything in his videos is just amazing. You can write only so much in a patch notes, but his philosophy behind even the smallest change is mindblowing.
