    The lyrics describe a recently deceased Mother, who the boy grieves for. He is lost in a blizzard, and believes he is being told she is not coming back. The Spirit of Baikal drives him on telling him that death is not for him, but rather life. It is wonderful, and I wish the movie was available to us in English. Thank you for a fine and thoughtful reaction to a masterful movie theme. 👍 This was Oscar worthy. Agreed: no one else could have done this.

    👉 This is Diana's first theme song for a film.
    How could it be otherwise than that she sings the song about the spirit of Lake Baikal and of course also embodies it. The Buryat (indigenous people who live on Lake Baikal) sounds and rhythms fit perfectly with the theme of the film and Diana's voice. Her voice sounds warm, primal, mysterious, inexplicable, frightening, but also encouraging and comforting.
    Diana's movements are like water, supple, fluid ... and her abrupt, attacking movements associate the frightening sounds of the lake's ice breaking (video below the comment).
    For me the eyes are the most beautiful thing. The boy's amber eyes look fearful and questioning, but I'm fascinated by Diana's black eyes. The look is so deep, hypnotizing.... goosebumps! A beautiful song and a wonderful video. I am enchanted. ❤
    Composer: Dmitry Lazarev
    Text: Mikhail Rashodnikov
    Director of the music video: Polina Raskhodnikova, Mikhail Raskhodnikov
    Story of the film: Hoping to distract the boy from the loss of his mother, his father takes him to visit his grandfather for winter fishing. But they get caught in a snowstorm and get lost on the ice of the huge lake. The love and mysterious powers of Lake Baikal will help them overcome their grief and find each other. (from the trailer description)
    * Lake Baikal is a huge lake (seventh largest in the world. It contains as much water as all of the United States' major lakes combined.) in Siberia in Russia near Mongolia and lies in a rift valley (growth approx. 2 cm/year). It is the deepest (1642 m/ 5387 ft) and oldest lake on earth (25 million years). It is over 620 km/385 miles long and is shaped like a giant crescent moon. In some places the lake is so wide (80 km) that you can no longer see the other shore.
    The transparency and purity of the water is unique and the ice in winter is also crystal clear. Up to a depth of 40 m/131 ft one can see fish, green stones and plants. An incredibly rich and unique flora and fauna arose in and around Lake Baikal.
    Baikal is also considered the largest freshwater reservoir in the world - its contents could supply all of humanity for 50 years. Over 300 rivers flow into the lake, but only one river, the Angara, originates from Lake Baikal.
    People have lived in this area for more than 20,000 years and have believed in the powerful energy of the lake for thousands of years. Lake Baikal has always been one of the holiest places in Asia.
    The local Buryats call “their” lake the “Sacred Sea”. One of the most famous personalities of Buryat descent was the Hollywood star Yul Brunner.
    There are many legends surrounding Lake Baikal: a huge lightning bolt is said to have struck this part of the world and cut through the earth down to the groundwater. This water then flooded many valleys and mountains and became Lake Baikal.
    An international team of researchers (led by the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena, Germany) has discovered the oldest connection to date between the inhabitants of Siberia and the Indians of North and South America. (www)

      Thank you for sharing all this information! I don't think there's a need for me to praise Diana further. I can say though that I agree with you when it comes to her eyes. It might be one of the reasons I like her, but I won't go into details on that.
      Someone else shared a video on the lake Baikal and the most interesting part for me, aside from the legends is that 50% of the life there are endemic species. The video "Lake Baikal: A biological treasure trove" shared more about it, very interesting! That in itself tells how very specific this environment is. Another interesting point was the length of time this lake exists and its self-cleaning ability (with the species of plankton they were describing).
      Once again, thank you!

    This was a pretty cool clip from the movie "Spirit of Baikal". It was filmed in Moscow in a swimming pool by the movie director and the production team as a thank you to Diana Ankudinova for her participation in the movie by voicing the soundtrack. The director Mikhail loved the results of her work! He also wrote the song. As to the story, yes the Spirit of Baikal gave two options to the lost boy, either give up, stay on the ice and slowly die and stay with her forever, or accept life and move forward. She led him out of the darkness and saved him, by the boy's choice. Thanks for checking this out, makes me want to see the movie! Diana voiced the soundtrack but did not appear in the movie visually.

In addition to the song, Diana voiced the voice of the boy's deceased mother. The boy went fishing with his grandfather and they got lost during a storm. In the film, they also escaped from wolves. The song is poetry, and all is metaphor.
    The frozen lake is the shut-down heart of the depressed boy, who grieves inconsolably for his dead mother.
    The spirit beneath the ice is his own soul. (Notice the images in which the reflections, on the first occasion of Diana's face, and on the second of Diana's hand, can be seen within his own eye.)
    Nothing can save him from his despair - that is being frozen to death unless he finds his way out off the ice - but himself, his inner resources.
    The final images at the end of the video signify that happily, he does manage to do this.

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  Před 6 dny +3

      I do believe this would be easier to pick up on if I spoke Russian. The translation seemed weird somehow, like some nuances are missing.
      I did notice the reflection, but prefer to imagine the spirit of Baikal as a spirit rather than the reflection of the boy's soul. Just a personal preference, not a fact.

    • @jackburgess8579
      @jackburgess8579 Před 6 dny +8

      @@AleksReacts
      Lake Baikal itself is in reality a sacred lake that is believed by some folk to harbour benevolent and restorative spirits. It is a site of effective pilgrimage.
      The film/song operates at different levels. Within it, the Spirit of the Lake is real. (Diana herself is cast in the film, albeit only as an audio part. She does not appear in the film, this video being made by the film crew separately, by way of interpreting the song.)
      But at the level of metaphor, it is as I said. The frozen lake is metaphor for the boy's grief-stricken shut down heart; the physical danger he faces of being frozen to death unless he finds his way is metaphor for his spiritual demise; the Spirit of the Lake trying to help him is metaphor for his own soul, and for his trying to save himself by recourse to courage and his own inner resources.

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  Před 6 dny +7

      I am not disagreeing with you and I did understand what you meant. What I mean is that Diana as the spirit of the lake Baikal has played her role so well that I prefer to think of that aspect of the song.

  • @Kwstas_Vagias
    @Kwstas_Vagias Před 6 dny +21

    According to the movie that this is the soundtrack of is like this:
    The boy's mother died and he is stuck in extreme grief, his father decides to take him to his Grandfather for some ice fishing on the frozen shores of the lake Baikal in order to make him forget his grief.
    Unfortunately the boy gets separated by his grandfather through a snowstorm and while his grandfather and his father are searching for him he ends up stranded on ice and slowly he falls asleep on the lakes frozen surface.
    Now you can interpret the following both literally and metaphorically.
    The literal meaning goes like this:
    The spirit of the lake Baikal sees the boy sleeping, it takes the form of his mother that has passed on and it wakes him up by hitting the ice from underneath him, the boy is stunned at first but then the spirit urges him to move so that he does not freeze , it uses all manner of things to keep him moving, it talks to him about his grief and how to surpass it, it scares him away from cracking ice and other natural hazards, it gives him courage by lighting a path under the ice so that he can follow a safe route etc.
    We see at the end when the light of day arrives the child is still alive and he safely reaches the shores of the lake.
    The metaphorical interpretation goes like this:
    The boy is depressed and grief stricken, his heart is slowly turning to ice like the environment that surrounds him, he is slowly getting lost in it but the image of his mother/spirit of Baikal comes to his thoughts and gives him courage, he has to act and surpass his own psychological barriers in order to survive physically in the harsh environment he ended up stranded at.
    At the end he manages to wake up from the slumber of grief and come to the light of life again, the image of his mother/spirit of the lake is always with him.
    All the scenes you see with the boy play as you see them here in the movie but the spirit itself is implied, the song plays in the scene and you hear Diana talking and singing since she gave her voice to both "The spirit of Baikal" and the boy's mother.
    In the video clip that is the promotion of the movie they decided to show the spirit (Diana) to the viewer as a more literal version of the same scene.
    I have a video ready that shows the same scene but this time from the movie perspective, i will upload it sometime in the future.
    Anyways this is an incredible song Diana did what she does best, her unique voice gave life to a spiritual/magical song once more, the director of this movie wanted to use effects to make the voice of the spirit but when he heard Diana singing and talking he was dumbfounded, he did not have to touch anything her voice did it all without effects.
    Diana herself filmed all the underwater scenes, there are short videos that show the process that was very hard but at the end of the day we have here the best video clip of 2023 easily in my opinion.
    Diana said that this is the first song she felt goosebumps herself by listening to it.

    Greetings from Scotland! I agree Aleks, this is a very well produced video of Diana in full "Shamanic mode" which is always a great pleasure to hear, and doesn't she sound amazing! It was a great choice by the film's producers, Diana fits the requirements perfectly!
    *Synopsis* - The boy's Dad decides to go on a family adventure to distract his son from the loss of his mother, his Dad drives him to his grandfather's home on the shores of the vast Lake Baikal for some winter fishing. However, things do not go well and the boy and his Grandfather get caught in a bad snowstorm. The boy gets lost on the vast ice of the world's deepest lake. Only love and the mysterious powers within Lake Baikal will save them all. He is helped by the Spirit of Baikal (for which Diana provides the ethereal voice). She also provides the voice of the boy's deceased mother who is connected with events in the film. Diana's video is a combination of scenes from the film and some added effects with Diana as The Spirit. All-in-all a pretty cool video and what looks like a very good film, which was released on October 19, 2023. It has already won Best Feature Film at the Baikal Film Festival. I hope this will attract interest in Diana's vocal and acting abilities around the world!

      Ah, once again, good to see you my friend! I believe Diana when she says she got goosebumps from her own song. Since I heard it, I can't stop playing it. This one is the closest to Rechenka and even partly to Wicked Game. It's as if she's gone "back to her voice of nature" mode, which is why I find her unique. Just loved it!

      @@AleksReacts She is still experimenting, she said in a recent interview that she can still afford to do it since she is still only 21, but she also knows that folk is her main attraction/specialty, one of the new original songs she teased recently is on that style and everyone is pumped to listen to it, her fanclub already gathered the money for a video clip and just today she asked from people to gather at a location to help with the filming by playing the crowd, so that means that the video clip is already being filmed.

    just uploaded so i got to share:
    she's greek. maybe the best voice atm in the country.
    here, she sings a composed poem of Yiannis Ritsos.
    Yiannis Ritsos (1 May 1909 - 11 November 1990) was a Greek poet and communist and an active member of the Greek Resistance during World War II. While he disliked being regarded as a political poet, he has been called "the great poet of the Greek left".
    the poem talks about the leftists exile durin the grewek civil war after WW2 ends

    Wow!! What an amazing song and video 😮
    In one of the Narnia books Lucy sees a mermaid in the water looking up at her and she felt that they knew each other and would rush together with their arms stretched out when they met again. This song reminded me of this.
    Have you listened to any Aurora? She is from the same planet ❤

      Have not read Narnia books, but I am aiming to finally watch the movies in sequence. Just watched parts from time to time. Now, what would you suggest by Aurora? I heard her once, the video was something in snow and I believe she was wearing only a sweater, but I can't say I actively listened to Aurora...

    • @TheNordicharps
      @TheNordicharps Před 6 dny +1

      Aurora is so her own genre, so her own soul and it is difficult to just pick one.
      I would suggest 2, very different ones. One is a cover, a song called Rasputin. The other, a live performance of her composition Murder. For your own enjoyment there is a 3-part documentary with many live performances, which is quite magical.

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  Před 6 dny +1

      Thank you! I will take a look, as I do remember I didn't mind her voice. Sometimes even background music can be grating and then I do pay attention, usually to ask people to shut it off. If I'm not really listening, but I don't mind it, it usually means it's probably either really good, or at least ok. Still, it was just in the background, my focus wasn't on her at the time, so I should actually listen.
