I love this style of homeschooling it’s the perfect blend of homeschool and unschool

Seems to be more of a relaxed homeschool but not unschooling.

Melody C she mentioned in the video that she’s not a radical homeschooler. Titles are so restrictive anyways. I think it’s unschooling in how there’s a general idea/focus for what the time is to be allotted for but within that time frame they get to explore the subject matter freely. Also, like in the example of her daughters reading time. Instead of the conventional homeschooling approach where a child is told to read from ex: 1:00-1:30. The daughter got to decide when she will be finished.

Melody C in unschooling, you can have non negotiable subjects. I learned that from Karla at Karla and the Sensational Six.

I agree this is not really “unschooling”. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I wish this wasn’t titled unschooling because it just isn’t that. I feel comfortable saying that because I was a radical unschooler for years and slowly left that lifestyle and now have moved over to a relaxed homeschool and do curriculum. And I still support those who truly unschool. For those families who are researching unschooling can be confused by this title because your channel can be viewed as a source for unschooling information. We still do not do any charts, no schedules. Kids choose when and which workbooks they work on and we don’t call it school, just life learning. 💕💕 Im still wishing any homeschool family success in what they do. Best wishes to you and your family! 🥰

This is the style that I am going for, you helped me. Also, search Hebrew vs. Greek model. The ideas helped me to solidify my approach. I definitely am burnt out with the traditional approach.

I was curious to know your thoughts on extra curricular activities such as sports or other outside classes?

  • @homeschooledaroundtheworld4660

I see here more like a relaxed homeschooling environment. Unschooling is more like interest led learning. No much control over the kids. They decide when to do what. The kids decide what to read, what projects to do. Parents are just facilitators. Parents provide the environment and materials. Unschoolers also have their own schedule and plenty of freedom. We are very relaxed homeschoolers and at some point I thought that we were falling into the unschoolers category but I love to have everything organized and to know what everyone is doing. We also love to work together. The unschooling category is not working for us at this time. Good luck with this new season in your life🌸

I love the stuffy school. My daughter always has her stuffed animals solve the tough math problems ☺️ And I am loving this idea of block schedule unschooling, such a great way to teach intentional learning. Thanks for sharing 💕

I like this method. I was considering doing "true" unschooling, but I think something like this may work better.

  • @theintentionaldollar9138

We are finishing up our 2nd year of homeschooling, but it’s nothing like I imagined when I mapped this out. The kids don’t like it. My daughter cries when she gets frustrated. I want them to love to learn. I think your method is exactly what I’m looking for for our next round. I love that you still generally plan your unschool.

    • @TheFallCoFamily

😩😩😩😩 girlllll you should cry with her, lol!!! let her know that you want whats best for you too!!! focus on the AWE and EXCITMENT and JOY of learning something new and not just checking things off of a list. and YES I think you would be surprised how many unschoolers actually plan for their successes.

I love how your brain 🧠 works! Lol you just find a way to apply your thoughts and how you want things to flow! Do you allow people to email you? I have so many questions I would like to ask you but they are on a more personal level(on my end lol) I want to officially homeschool my son who will be a kindergartner this upcoming fall...and I just have some simple yet personal questions I would like to ask you, if you don’t mind. And as always thank you for the great content you provide❤️

I really appreciate and admire your gradual approach from homeschooling to unschooling. I think it’s something I will end up doing as well. I think my child would need to understand the fundamentals of learning, discipline, structure and responsibility before I feel comfortable introducing to him any unschooling ideals.
Question: did you also need to start off as a homeschooling parent to satisfy any state requirements/laws mandating that your child be in school!? Do you have any videos or resources for how you worked through the logistics of schooling to unschooling; state laws about homeschooling; or transitioning from homeschool to unschool and the proper protocol for reporting!?
    I hope this makes sense

I love your approach, but this doesn't seem to be unschooling. Seems more of a relaxed approach of your normal day working towards the deschooling approach on the path to unschooling.

Do your children always want to do school ? I have to fight my kid to do his kindergarten work. It’s so tiring and disappointing. I’m hoping he out grows it.

    • @pjengland286
      @pjengland286 Před 4 lety

I've homeschooled for 6 years now. No, kids do not always want to do school! However, if they're fighting school (and you) it's often a sign of your kid is feeling overwhelmed, need a break, or is not ready yet. Kindergarten is a great place to make learning as fun as possible, to take it easy, and learn naturally. Good luck and remember nothing is ever perfect. Your doing a good job!

For K if you are reading to him and cooking together and making art and going into nature and talking about the way numbers work you ARE doing school. Really, I totally promise. I dont know everything but I am pregnant with number five and now kindergarten in our house is a special year where learning is fun and as hands on as possible. I pushed two children in K and it was so stressful and not fruitful compared to my current littles. Best of luck mama, if its stressing you out ditch it!!
