- Today I'm reacting to Romeo Void hit song Never Say Never. Such an underrated band with a powerhouse song. One of the first songs to kick off my new wave obsession.
Romeo Void - / romeovoidvevo - Zábava
Not a radio song but super popular hit of the 80s and 90s. #GenX
Radio is where I heard this song for the first time.
Actually friends of mine back in the day from LA complained that KROQ played it too much. But they were happy for us.
I am 54, and find this one the best one ever from the 80ties...for sure!
I danced to this song at a club in San Francisco called STUD BAR when this was a huge club hit. Romeo Void was from San Francisco and the lead singer Deborah Iyall was amazing. I also loved her solo albums and her hit "Girl In Trouble: It's a Temporary Thing"
Such an under rated song. It's got a great base line, that sexy sax and that hook. Delicious.
Yes! I've got some good ones coming up.
I was a "Voidoid" This tune was so much fun on the dance floor back in the day. ❤
One of the best new wave songs ever. Pulls you in and gets your blood groovin
One hell of a song. I still think the band name “Romeo Void” is one of the most creative names I’ve ever heard. Man, I miss the 80’s like nobody’s business. 😎🤙🏾✌🏾🍺🍺🍺
Great song!!!! Thank you for reacting to this... epic.
This one and Girl in Trouble were just outstanding songs. The really cool thing is, both of them are standing the test of time. " I might like you better if we slept together " was a dance floor chant for club goers for years ! Great reaction Cat !
Criminally underrated track. I too love her voice. So unique. It almost sounds like energetically monotone.
They should have made it super big but I don't think they were properly managed. They were superstars at the time here in San Francisco.
Absolutely takes me back to a magical time in my life! I think in many ways ever since I have been trying to re create that magic! :) Not saying my life has been downhill since then but man!!!! The 80's were like magic! I have a feeing you know what I am talking about!
RV was featured on "New Wave Theater" back in the day... RIP Peter Ivers
Big Club Hit, love this song
There were three (3) things in the 80's that utterly ruled - 1) was that there were no rules. It was, quite literally ANYTHING GOES! 2) was that the music..? followed that line of thought - you couldn't get a song so awesome as this, these days and 3)..? Actually, to Hell w/three - the first two were MORE than enough!!
Many, MANY thanks my dear for posting this - So good to know I'm not the only one that loved those times...
Born in 68. Popcorn, Fox on the Run, Cars and Pop Musik prepped me for electronica and New Wave in the 80s
I loved Romeo Void. I suggest you give a listen to their "A Girl in Trouble is a Temporary Thing." Amazing.
I listened to this song over and over and over and over when I was in high school. Rewind play
Rewind play . LoL
I read she is an art teacher at some high school in California now. Maybe react to Girl In Trouble some time?
What? Cool!!!
This band is known for this single, but they have two albums that are damn good.
I was so enthralled when this came out I wrote Deborah a letter (in the mail back than) and I have all of the albums till today and they will never ever go on ebay.
Wow, really fabulous sound and the vocalist is amazing.
I just wonder if she looked like Debbie Harry or Pat Benetar would their careers have been very different?
I'm going to have to follow up on more of Romeo Void.
This popped up for me today, thanks for the reaction and sharing this. Look for a Best of #romeovoid Live album in Fall 2024.
Just discoverd this song yesterday, omg the bass line!!!! =D
It's so good! Seriously, this 38 yr old song is better than most music today.
@@catsarai-genxrewind5271 oh yes, for sure =)
OMG!!!! Thank you sooo much for this!!! I adore this song and it brings back so many memories! Love Deborah-amazing singer! Keep rocking!
I played this song so much, even my mom knew the words! I do wish they received more credit for their talent. Come back. I'm prepping a Souxsie and the Banshees reaction
80s had a lot of great music to dance your @ss off.
No need to diet or go to the gym to exercise, just put on some 80s new wave and dance yourself to better health.😁
Yes!!! Wasn't it amazing?!! 🙂
I love this song. ALSO: I remember mishearing the chorus as "Mother keeps better when we slept together" lol
Girl listen to anything on their final album INSTINCTS THEY MORE I LISTENED THE MORE IT DRILLED INTO MY HEAD
Look for Debora iyall now, on you tube she still plays in clubs every now & than but she still rocks! Of course shes gotten alot older.....but still so amazing look for her you will not be disappointed at all i love the entire band!
Every aspect of this song is so perfect for an intense, fast paced movie scene. The opening guitar riff is one of a kind, the drumbeat causes you to unconsciously bop, and that insane bass line... then the guitar continues much more discreetly thru the song but adds such a fantastic filler. And of course her voice. I rocked this song when none of my friends had even heard of it. Here I am again blowing my windows out and cranking it. Thanks for the reminder. :) In NY we had a club called Reds which was all New Wave. I got into NW via The Romantics but heard this in Reds one night as was hooked. Try Space Age Love Song by Flock of Seagulls.
What a perfect way to describe this work of art. It is just one of those songs you back help but move to. Space Age Love song is sick! I can't wait to do the review on that one! Thanks for the comment!
@@catsarai-genxrewind5271 I am certain you MUST already have it on your list but ummm... The Romantics, What I Like About You... this was not limited to New Wave hangouts but was played in Dance Clubs (yea I like Disco and was a DJ!) almost as often. I was a club hopper and it was probably the most played song among them. Of course a hot wedding will always include it too. :) Ok, I'll shuddap now.
It was in a movie called reckless, Aiden Quinn and Daryl Hannah danced to it.
Eyy just found this channel 💯💯💯💥💥💥
Even after all these years, this reaction is hilarious.
I wish that they had more Romio Voids .
Kinda mad this is not a first time reaction, totally glad for the stories about going to clubs back in the day!
Sax was a big part of the sound of the 80's. The Furs has a lot of sax too!
Thank you for doing these. So much great music in that time!
A reaction to Siouxsie and The Banshees Cities in Dust I think would be great.
She is one of my all time favs. I was about to do Kiss them for me but I'll switch it up and do this one first 😉
Just put up Cities in Dust. Thank you for recommending it, what a phenomenal flashback,!
I remember hearing this when I was a teenager. Probably in the mall or something. Never knew the the name of the song just the lyric. Typed it in and found it and your channel. Thank you!
Your are welcome and glad you found me : )
If you react to this great song you deserve a follow. Looking forward to exploring your channel!
Welcome!!!
I like your enthusiasm. Subscribed.
Thank you!! And welcome. Glad you are here! 🙂
I wish you would have played the full version of "Never Say Never" instead of the single version of it. The original version produced by Ric Ocasek and Ian Taylor is a bit longer and has a much stronger impact than this truncated "7 inch" single version.
This is great!
Benefactor is one of my most treasured albums from the early 80s ...start to finish not one filler on it. Prefer the non bleeped version of this one though🤨😉
Please do a reaction video to Sacrificial Rites by The Voices. they deserve the attention! Closest band to Blondie in terms of sound in my opinion. They are as New Wave as it gets!
Love that you're from Florida. Same here, Gainesville area.
So cool!
Her voice is pure bad attitude and completely makes this song.
Ha! What a great way to describe it!!!
Hope you like it.
Rolling Stones
Drummer is stupid cute ❤
No way were you around for the actual 80s. =p
Haha! Thank you ! I was a teen in the 80's and so happy I got to enjoy that era 😉
Braces fool you ha
Oh wrong video I think she have
If you're a Gen Xer how are you just now hearing this?
Whatever generation you are, did you learn how to listen? She specifically stated that she was familiar with the song.
You are...at yours 50's and You never knows this song?

She definitely doesn't fit her voice 🤣
