A lot of comments asking about the certificate name. I took 'Database Management Certificate' at University of Washington. It's listed on my LinkedIn too. That being said, the reason I omitted the in the first place from the video because there was a lot of self-learning outside of the certificate program which helped me. Additionally, my resume did not have this certificate mentioned when I got my first job at big tech. Hopefully the additional context is helpful as I wouldn't want anyone to blindly jump into a certificate thinking it's the primary reason I got hired. Hope you are having a beautiful day!

I've already started doing certifications from outside. After completing my bachelor's, I am going to do Diploma in Big Data Analytics, so that I learn more about what I love. So because i come from a non tech background as well, you really opened my eyes and now i think that i can make it as well. Thank you!
@@Dariusrae45636 hey bud. I'm not so sure about that. But, Data Science accepts everyone. I ended up doing a Post Grad Diploma in Data Science and AI. Most of them were from a science background. I also made some friends who were from a Medical background. So to answer your question, MSC Biotech Graduates may have to do a similar course first and then they can be selected for a data scientist job. I would suggest doing online courses, diploma certification, etc to show your background. Hope this helped.

Started post graduate Certificate in Data Analytics in 2020 when I lost my taxation job to begin a new Data Analytics career. Now I’m doing Masters in Data Science and working full time as a Data Analyst in one of Big 4. I want to work in Data Engineering | Data Science space but want to get affluent in Python and R. Any advice for how to approach that if (as is in my case) you current working environment doesn't expose you to people who can help you advance? Would you recommend self-learning as an option or it is better to have a more structured instruction via university courses? Perhaps also on-line learning platforms? What is your opinion on those?

You are LUCKY when meeting supportive managers and good employers. In Vietnam, people focus on your age, and if you are not young (20 - 22 yrs old), they DON'T OFFER Internship for you. Another NEGATIVE side in Vietnam that they require you have 3 years of experience or over for the Role, that you will not have chance to work.

Don’t worry. More guys were part of my internship cohort than women. I’ve been the only woman in most of my tech team so I’m not sure what you are talking about.
@@SundasKhalid Just to illustrate my point. There was a reputed company which came to my college for campus placement. As they were interviewing the candidates for the role(it was very difficult to get shorlisted for their interview), there was a “pretty” girl who was working as a coordinator for the interview. She was spotted by one of the guys from the panelists. He gives her the unsolicited offer for the invitation to interview. She appears for the interview and eventually gets selected. I am not saying the same thing about you. Just pointed to the general trend. Don’t take it the wrong way. I have seen your videos and I appreciate your hardwork and your journey. But I hope you get my point. Can’t turn blind eye to the kind of bias which happens around us. Clear preference for prettier women over others.
I am a non tech person with a background in Accounting and Finance. I began taking masters part time in 2019 just about to graduate and my masters got me interested in Data Science. Been moving to different countries until I decided to go back studying bachelors in a foreign country. You are LUCKY when meeting supportive managers and good employers. In Vietnam, people focus on your age, and if you are not young (20 - 22 yrs old), they DON'T OFFER Internship for you. Another NEGATIVE side in Vietnam that they require you have 3 years of experience or over for the Role, that you will not have chance to work.

Hey Sundas! This video is really informative and helpful. You said you took three courses to learn more about data analysis. Can you tell what courses were they and what platform?
The courses were primarily focused on data engineering. I don't remember the name atm, it's lon my LinkedIn profile though. I took it at the University of Washington.

Don’t worry. More guys were part of my internship cohort than women. I’ve been the only woman in most of my tech team so I’m not sure what you are talking about.
@@SundasKhalid Just to illustrate my point. There was a reputed company which came to my college for campus placement. As they were interviewing the candidates for the role(it was very difficult to get shorlisted for their interview), there was a “pretty” girl who was working as a coordinator for the interview. She was spotted by one of the guys from the panelists. He gives her the unsolicited offer for the invitation to interview. She appears for the interview and eventually gets selected.
I am not saying the same thing about you. Just pointed to the general trend. Don’t take it the wrong way.
I have seen your videos and I appreciate your hardwork and your journey. But I hope you get my point. Can’t turn blind eye to the kind of bias which happens around us. Clear preference for prettier women over others.
I am a non tech person with a background in Accounting and Finance. I began taking masters part time in 2019 just about to graduate and my masters got me interested in Data Science. Your journey is inspirational as I want to transition towards Data Science. I would love to know your recommendations on how to learn Python or R. Currently at work I do not have an opportunity to use those skills. Any ideas you may have to self learn and implement these teachings. Thanks again for your insights.

Your video gives me courage to continue studying MDS. I had my bachelors degree and started my masters degree a long time ago. Been moving to different countries until I decided to go back studying bachelors in a foreign country. I felt overwhelmed because I am learning new staff and asking myself if it will be worth it studying Data science?
may i ask in which field you had had bachelor and master and in which field you are doing bachelor in the foreign country?

Six years is a very long gap one can complete a bachelor + master degree in six years can you tell what reasons led to this gap??

Hey I wonder how did you get into business right after college? I am at this stage and most of them requires work experience.
Ps. I am thinking about getting a MS in data analytics or web development. I totally feel that just with a bachelor’s degree is NOT enough to find good internships
