    I haven't played literally any videogames when WOTLK came out but got the biggest shivers when I first saw the video (still do). In my opinion the greatest strength of the Lich King cinematic is that you can intuitevely understand what's happening without context. Even if you don't know a thing about Warcraft in general, you feel that this is a tragic story of a fallen king who was once a promising prince and it is FUCKING EPIC.
    WOD requires the viewers to know the story of demon blood, without it the video is about something *not* happening, and if you don't know what should have happened it just goes over you head.

    • @ogJbizz
      @ogJbizz Před 4 lety +15

      I disagree with your premise that wod cinematic makes no sense. You just need to know orcs are badass and demons are bad. The story makes it better.

      @@babymahruaii819 He just means that you can extrapolate what was going to happen with the Demon's blood even if you never knew the WC3 story, the cinematic gives you some idea with the dialogue between Grom and Gul'dan. I'd argue that Garrosh's presence is the more intrusive factor, as it would be difficult to know who he was or where (when) he came from, or how significant his time meddling is for the story.

      There are videos of people who know nothing of WoW and they watch the cinematics. Most ended up saying the best was Warlords of Draenor or Battle for Azeroth. They are action packed and have emotional highs. People with no knowledge of WoW think he’s a discount Night King and think the Lich king is boring because nothing really happens. Back then even if people didn’t know who he was, it had a very pretty song that evokes The Gladiator, Lord of The Rings, and Halo which were early 2000s classics.

      Wdym he had no army? The entirety of the Scourge is not an army anymore? And what about the whole deal with the Knights of the Ebon Blade? They did cooperate with Bolvar pretty well during the Legion, why didnt he call them and said that he needed help? Why there is no single frostwyrm or giant skeletons at his side, but there are plenty of them now in the pre-patch?
      Oh wait, I know why
      BECAUSE PLOT
      And btw dont even start with the whole "We destroyed most of the Scourge during WotLK" shit, there are no confirmation to this as far as I know, and if that was true then why the hell we even needed Bolvar as the Lich King in the first place? We could have just finish them off then and thats it. The whole fraze "There must always be a Lich King" is completely not true now.
      P.s. He didnt have Frostmourne, but he still had the helm. But I guess to most of the people here its not a very powerful artifact which grants the wearer incredible strength and necromantic & frost magic, but rather just some headdress for show-off it seems.

    Shadow lands was set up to be such a great expansion, if it was Called becoming the lich Queen or something it would have been a good expansion, and even if she destroyed the helmet and the scourge completely invaded azeroth and every other place on the game and the scourge became A big problem like they said Would happen if there wasn't a lich king The current expansion would be amazing. Everybody loves zombies, there's no going wrong with undead. You can make blobs of goo and make a Snowman out of it put a few darker shades of color on a call it a shadow zombie, give it some goofy voice over, Throw a healthbar on it and let people slap it, and make a 5 minute short story on it and people will absolutely go nuts over it. One has to remember how many important people Arthas killed or defeated even before he was the Lich King. He killed Kel'thuzad (pre Lich), he killed Sylvanas, he killed Kael Thas' dad Anasterion. He killed Antonidas the leader of Dalaran. He killed Uther the Lightbringer, he killed his dad, he and Kel'thuzad summon Archimonde. He kills Mal'Ganis, he defeats Kael'thas, Lady Vashj, AND Illidan...and then he becomes the Lich King. As the Lich King he kills Saurfang and Bolvar (technically sort of), he kills a lot of people in Northrend, and he even kills your Raid group prior to some Deus Ex Machina Bullshit where Tirion breaks Frostmourne. Like let's be real...Bolvar is a joke compared to him. Arthas would have smoked Sylvanas in that Shadowlands Cinematic.

Of course Pixar and disney use amazing technology and effects that are much more advanced than blizzards, but to an untrained eye they look pretty much the same. I liked Arthas’ story in Warcraft 3, but I always had love for the Orc. Grom Hellscream was the baddest dude out there. And he was already an old warrior back in Warcraft 3. Probably around Varok’s age when he died. This guy pushed in the shit of Cenarius and Manoroth single-handedly. Sure he was juiced out on the demonblood, but that’s still impressive as fuck for a single Orc.

  • @argadan9581

    Asmongold just doesn't know lore and can't read cinematics. Sylvanas was toying with Saurfang, showing everone that his is nothing to her. She just uses her knifes to beat him. Easy parry and easy blows. And Arthas was much more powerful than Bolvar as a Lich king because about 75% of his power comes from Frostmourn. Without it's power he will fall much easier. I would even risk a sentence that Sylvanas boosted by power from the Maw will clash swords with Arthas as equal because his power also came from shadowland (Helm of Domination and Frostmourn were made there)

  • @nightstar4330
    @nightstar4330 Před 4 lety

    Okay, I think the reason that there is a difference between her fight with Saurfang and fight with the lich king is that with Saurfang, she was not trying nearly as hard then she was in her fight with the lich king. I think that the reason it seemed near the end of the Saurfang fight she seems caught off guard was because she was not expecting that to happen and was prodded enough to become enraged and not think as clearly. Still stupid how inconsistent it does feel though, Blizz should have done much better. Also, as I saw in another comment here, the new lich king is far weaker than Arthas was because he does not have Frostmourne, does not have Val'kyr, does not have as strong an army as Arthas did, and resisted the influence of the helm of domination for quite some time, only just completely succumbing to it in that cinematic, so to compare Bolvar Lich King to Arthas Lich King, I think is not fair because they are on completely different power levels.
