Stemme and Mattila are COMPLETELY out of the depth in these roles. Stemme forces her voice beyond healthy boundaries. Mattila is totally miscast as in berlin last year. Beautiful playing and phrasing from Maestro Pappano and the orchestra albeit too loud. I’ve hear Nilsson, Tinsley, Tschau, Foster and Bullock ( in that order) sing this role) and wish I’d heard Goltz…..
