Back in the late 1970s, a peculiar synth debuted to quite the buzz, thanks to novel features like a flat, touch-sensitive playing surface in lieu of physical keys and a pre-MIDI control system for linking with select instruments. Its distinctive sonic character is owed to an unorthodox mix of digital oscillators and analog circuitry, earning a spot among the repertoires of 808 State, Duran Duranâs Nick Rhodes, and more. Though it failed to get too far from the hive, it became an iconic synth all the same - a âsleeper synth,â some might say. Behringer saw the latent potential in this lovely musical insect and chose to give it new wings to take flight with their support. Enter the Wasp Deluxe. Its lauded sound returns in full form, outfitted with modern appointments that donât sacrifice its vaunted character and with the versatility of a desktop module to serve up stinging synth sonics more flexibly than ever before. Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater's synth scholar, takes the Behringer Wasp Deluxe for a test flight to see what all the buzz is about. Check it out!

This comment isn't directly related to this video, but it's a huge "Thank You" to Sweetwater for how great it is to work with. Every problem (and there aren't many) I've ever had with SW has been handled extremely well. There are actual people to talk to, they're very professional and cordial. They listen, they perform and they deliver. SW is, by far, the best music retailer I've ever dealt with.
Concur. I see a lot of folks online bag on Sweetwater, but as a 20 year customer, dozens upon dozens of transactions, the ONE single issue I had was taken care of promptly and professionally. I don't even bother with other online retailers-they really aren't your "friend".....đ
10:17 love the sound here

Sure took your time getting this vid out the door! I waffled for quite some time on getting one. Pretty sure i watched almost every vid on YT that had one in it. But always great to hear someone else twisting those knobs. Inspirational.
sounds good especially the filter
I have one of these and they're great. That said, Daniel makes me want to buy another one.
Fantastic video!! Love my Wasp. I have it paired with the neutron and controlled with 2 Korg-SQ1's
The wasp has a tone of it's own. It really likes delays and even though it doesn't have the thick sound of ARP or Moog, it can still cut through a mix. Behringer offer this synth now at a fantastic price. There's nothing can touch it at the price. It is a full professional level synth. Good demo and shows it's great at effects.
I really like the wasp. i think i might get a third one. the filter is so fun and intuitive.
Have you hooked them up together to make them duophonic?
@@DonnieSmooth yes i sure did. thanks for asking. It was fairly easy thing to do with the software from behringer (Synthtribe). They say you can have up to 16 in polyphony, but that is a lot of knobs to manage if you ask me, because each Wasp keep its own settings, and you cannot save presets on these beauties.
@paulcaron7056 OK cool. Because I have had a Model D for a little while now, and just bought another one, because I read that you can do this. I'm looking forward to it.
Why not get a neutron instead ? This is great though đđ
@@RealityShiftUK yeah now i think i need a bit variety with my wasps lol. changed my mind. im looking at the model 15 also, a monosynth close copy to the moog grandmother
I keep pondering the Wasp due to its price, but not sure much how much I'd use it on its own. That being said, been recently pondering running its buzzy tone into the ESP of my MS-20 mini for some additional tone shaping options.
I did that, wasnât really worth the effort. Wasp sounds great as it is, tbf
Mine is the Jasper kit one, the Behringer one actually has more inputs/outputs than the OG
I canât even sequence it, I decided not to go for that option on the kit, lol. The Wasp is unique enough that I find chorus/delay is enough. Synths donât really need much post processing, I think.
It's funny how effect pedals are so much more expensive than synths in these reviews.
Ummm youâre using my copywrited patented sound wave sir ! đ sike đ
Anyone else experiencing super low volume output with there Wasp Deluxe?
Nice. Sounds like a murder hornet in fact.
Sound more like a wasp if youtube playback is set to 2x
