- there's good violence and bad violence.
--
Yeah, I started the hostility log thing this week.
-PETER: How's that working out?
-CARLO: Oh, yeah, good. Yeah. Um...
Had a bit of a situation Wednesday with somebody.
Yeah, it was just-just some guy eyeballing me at the pub.
But I was getting pretty pissed, and I used the stop technique,
you know, we spoke about.
So, yeah. It's... I'm-I'm getting pretty good at it,
-so that's good.
-PETER: Great. Um... Ray, how have you been?
Yeah, good, mate.
-PETER: Yeah?
-Yep.
Is there anything you want to talk about?
Nah, I'm good.
PETER: Are you sure?
-Nothing at all?
-(Ray chuckles)
I beat my, uh, girlfriend's brother up over Christmas.
(inhales deeply)
Okay.
(coughs)
Um...
What happened?
I went round to her parents' place, and, um...
Yeah, we did the whole, uh, Secret Santa thing.
Me daughter got this unicorn candle,
which she was pretty chuffed about,
and, uh, me girlfriend's brother decided he wanted it,
and when it was his turn, he, uh, took it off her.
-So you assaulted him?
-Well, he was being a dickhead, so, you know.
-PETER: So you assaulted him?
-Eh, pretty much.
And how did your girlfriend feel about this?
Well, she's not my girlfriend anymore, so...
VINCE: Shit. Sorry, mate.
-Mm.
PETER: I mean, uh, you know, without wanting to state the obvious,
can you see how violence is perhaps not the best way
for you to resolve your disputes?
No, I think it generally is.
But, you know, just don't do it in front of your girlfriend, you know?
(all chuckle)
PETER: Uh, what's great about it?
I mean, it doesn't seem to have worked for you this time.
-RAY: Yeah, well,
sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, you know?
PETER: Can you give me one example of violence ever working?
-World War II.
-World War II?
-RAY: Mm-hmm.
We didn't beat the Nazis just by talking to them.
We used violence.
PETER: Okay, sure.
So every now and then, violence is necessary as a last resort.
But for you, uh, with your girlfriend's brother,
I mean, would you call that an example of violence working?
-Yeah, look, I shouldn't have done what I did.
You know, I'm not making excuses.
But I don't think you can say that all violence is bad.
I mean, I think there's good violence and bad violence.
What's good violence?
World War II.
Thanks Vince.
Um...
-Yeah.
-Uh, all right, maybe it's about time.
Maybe we should leave it there.
Thank you, everyone. Thank you.
-NARRATOR (on TV): German forces had already moved in
and now occupied the abbey ruins in force.
Here you go, mate. You can have the fatty bit.
Mate, you didn't even chew that.
Meanwhile, in the town below,

They all came to learn from the therapist about anger management, but I hink they learn more from Ray about standig for your principles.
I hink you are right
What exactly does standig mean
Guys, first English is not my mother language, and standig stands for standing. Everyone with IQ above room temprature, has got it.
Yes I have some mistakes, but I think everyone understands the main message.
Is that everything you guys see in this comment? Really sad.
@@matt_z_07 btw, I checked the word management, and it isn't a mistake ;)
@@matt_z_07 oh i didn't see the hink, it should be think...my bad. I wrote it fast and didn't check the grammar..😬
We were raised with: Violence is never the answer - violence doesn't solve anything. But you can realise early in life -first time you stand up to bully, that sometimes violence is the only answer. Or just the threat of violence. Some ugly situation (with neighbour or whatever) dragging on for years can end over night. After trying everything possible to resolve an issue you come to realise that some people simply cannot be reasoned with and just don't understand any other language But violence.
"We were raised with: Violence is never the answer - violence doesn't solve anything."
its usually teachers who preach this religion, while they "of course" use violence (legal violence, psycho war) to spread their "good faith". rule by force. anti-voluntary. blind for natural order (talents are inborn)
that whole religion/church/state thing is one big faccade for organized crime, always looking for scapegoats ...
Violence is not always the answer, but it is an option.
You gonna be a little bitch and let punks roll you over, or are you man enough to do something about it?
I choose violence. Sometimes you just have to push back and make them pay.
@@milahu such a childish comment...
@@TruthHurtsLikeH3ll Obviously you never been the victim of bullies. Teachers are good at preaching and turning a blind eyes to bullying. And one days a students show-up and make a massacre. And nobody have a clue why...
I think Ray I'd s good guy in a bad world .
I think he is a legend
"Give me an example of when violence worked."
(Ray's thoughtful pause)
"...World War 2, we didn't beat the Nazis jus by talking to them. We used bombs."
I laughed hard as fuck by the moment Ray says World War 2.
🤣
He said violence not bombs… Just saying… 👍🏻
@michaelglazier9932
So bombs aren't violence?
Evidently you haven't been paying attention
"...but you know, just don't do it in front of yer girlfriend."
There's not many things that sound more atypically Australian.
Do you mean "don't do it in front of your girlfriend" sounds Australian or does NOT sound Australian?

I wish I could find the full series I wish I could find a full service that must be available on DVD somewhere
Violence is never the best answer. I agree. But sometimes its necessary.
I respect men like ray.
One of the greatest shows everrrrrrrr
He's kind to his dog that says a lot about him in my opinion. When I was younger in school I got into a fight with the big jock basketball player who decided to slam his lunch tray on this kid with a disability. No one said a word, something inside me rose up and I snapped. Turns out a teacher saw it and tackled him down after I acted, I think he was gonna just let it go. To me that was righteous indignation (good violence) great example Ray says world war two... He ain't wrong, sometimes extreme violence is called for to right a wrong
background: ray is type 1 = "the animal" ... so naturally, he wants to meet at eye level with animals, for example, share his food with his dog ... not force the dog to eat "dog food". also the dog is sitting at his table, and probably sleeping in his bed
Brian Peterson, good on you for stepping up.
Who's dog?

It doesn’t mean shit
"bad men are needed to keep the other bad men from the door"
TBH the man that took his daughters unicorn had it coming...
thats exactly what i thought.
What a great idea!
Get a bunch of scrappers all together in one place, and talk down to them!
Awesome way to train yourself to make it in the MMA world.
If I had to listen to a bunch of domestic abusers talk about their feelings for a living I'd probably develop an attitude too..
Violence is seldom the answer. But when violence is the answer it’s the only answer.
My new hero: Ray. This guy is on his shit. Outstanding.
I agree 100% with that statement. As with everything in life, there is good and bad.
best show on tv in the last 10 yrs
Funny that when quiet, unassuming characters like Ray , that were bullied in their youth, start to stand their ground, and put fool, and cowards in their place , are called violent people.....it amuses me that the perpetrators, the gutless smart Aleks that prey upon quiet people, who, are generally asuaging some shrivelled up, and insecure pain from an early age, are held to be the victims, when they get what they deserve, and are lauded in court as "up-standinging members of the community".... really ....leave people alone in the first place, then, if you bother someone who didn't deserve to be bothered...then got your ass kicked for it ... don't cry like a stuck pig...just do the right thing....Karma will bite you on the ass, otherwise.🤔🙏
what are you on about mate? shut yer gob
Karma is just a utopia, in the reality a lot of violence people attack another for no reason and play the victim
Ray murders people for a living, you simpleton.
Karma doesn’t exist but I do agree with what you said
Correct, arseholes will give you up to the coppers as quick as they can , start shit then squeal .
Such an outstanding show!
WW2 .The councilor got schooled.
The Anger Management dude is clueless.
The anger management host got on my nerves and made me want to punch him which made me think for a second but he (actor) did a great job acting here - just his (character) facial expression to he talks made me feel like he judging the people in the room and acts likes they are worthless and cannot change.
Amazingly executed and how much they got with time they had (20mins) which allows you to watch all three seasons in one go.
matrix 4 ... the psycho therapist with blue glasses
I think you're projecting. Nowhere did he indicate that they were "worthless" or "could not change."
I mean he's just expects people to agree and doesn't know what to do when people don't.
I'm too want to punch that "anger management" guy! His sense of moral and intellectual superiority is so obvious, he's only a gutless coward like all "never violence" people.
@@winstonmarlowe5254
I think what people were picking up from the therapist is his view that violence is bad, and that seems like a judgment on everyone there. He's trying to help them become less violent but seems to do it in a way that the violent are always wrong and the non violent are always right. Something like that.
we call this nessary violence
Such a cool series
When I was the eighth grade ,I kicked the crap out of this one person who kept bullying me . My principal asked me , “what does violence solve ?” At the end of the school year I told the principal, “you asked me at the beginning of school year ,what does violence solve?,” that person I kicked the crap out of , never messed with me again ! "Fighting is a method of speaking when words have lost their meaning." My sons Tae Kwon Do instructor. I think if you instigate the violence it could be seen as wrong and a lot of times that is correct. However, we must all walk the line of 'if you're gonna be in a fight; throw the first punch.' That's a tough balance and can lead to charges filed. Just remember it is ALWAYS better to be tried by twelve than carried by six.
Here's a nice famous line from several audiobooks I listen to, that seems to fit this show perfectly:

Absolutley.
no answer, 'we'll end it there!'
I rolled my eyes when he came out with that one. Just like in so many political talk shows !
i sorta of agree with him... However, I wouldnt classify violence as good or evil... for me it is a tool, and its moral classification falls within the purpose or the use of it. So there is violence used for good and there is violence used for bad. What we see almost all days in the news is violence being used and abused by bad people for nefarious purposes. And sometimes, that requires to be paid on the same coin to bring balance, so you emply violence against these violent individuals to neutralize them. Will it be the end of teh circle? no... but it will bring peace. So violence used for good purposes or circuntances can be when used or employed to save someone, to free hostages, to stop terrorists from bombing innocents, to stop a serial killer, or to punish child abuserd... then it is tool that is used for good. In fact, violence is a deterrent used or employed or threaten with to keep at bay the evildoers
whenever somebody says violence is not the answer, just say ww2 or 1, or any war.
Godwin’s Law. No brainer.
In this clip ray was 100% wrong. He skirted the point by bringing up a war instead of an example when violence worked in his life. The therapist was written to not challenge Ray on his answer in an effective way.
Beating up that brother, from what Ray says in this clip, was a mistake. And he refused to learn from it
I remember reading something in a martial arts, Daoist kind of book about a state of mastery that gives the adept the exalted state of living without fear. (Jack Reacher comes to mind.). That particular way of being, living without fear, had never occurred to me before, which I realized means I'd never confronted the fact that most people, myself included, actually *do* live with an element of fear. We block it out, and usually don't have to think about it, but it exists in the background, and occasionally it jumps out of the closet and freaks us out. Ray seems more or less like one of those adepts, and I think that's one of the reasons why he doesn't feel the same way about violence that many people do. He's not afraid of it. I guess it's kind of like people who don't have guns or know anyone who does, develop an irrational fear of guns. People who live with them, practice with them, repair them, maintain them, etc, are not afraid of them, per se. They are simply tools, very powerful tools. I think Ray looks at violence like that. It is a tool for creating particular outcomes that would be impossible otherwise.
Violence was a way of life for me growing up. Dysfunctional angry parents, being violent or threatening violence, druggies hanging out 30 feet from my door smashing each other over the head with bats, police there all the time. Bullies in my neighborhood. Violence was ever present and always a possibility for me to either be a victim of, or, and because of my fear and rage being the aggressor. Having said that , I still knew there was Bad violence, and good violence. When I punched a bully in the face before he could punch me that was good violence. When I punched someone's lights out because I was provoked verbally, that tended to be bad violence. Fortunately as I grew older I curbed most of my violent tendencies, and the threat of prison stops me from giving people what they probably deserve today.
If you disrespect somebody in jail, you can end up dead! That's reality!! So why are people so disrespectful to each other out here on the streets? Because there's no consequences!
Ray has to come back!!!
nah mate. nuff said
Hopefully we get a movie
Is it possible to join a group like that near Nottingham. Looks bloody marvellous😂
Its pointless trying to explain to those that haven't had to resort to violence to actually survive, how it is sometimes necessary. They are from different worlds .
I once had a probation officer who said to me
"Imagine that you are surrounded by 4 men with metal bars and you have a knife, what would you do ? "
I told her, matter of factly that I would stab one of them and run through the gap he had provided
She asked me if it wasn't better to try and talk to them first.
I sighed, and said if she tried that she would be raped and murdered .
Afterwards, I told her what she wanted to hear because the great majority have not existed in my world.
And I'm happy that they haven't.
Strange though that these same people enjoy films and books on serial killers and violence and people like me generally find it funny or tiresome as its mostly fantasy. Except for the odd show. Mr Inbetween is one of them it can have colour for the stories sake but it's not glamorous violence.
Try getting out of bed the morning after a fight, it takes 5 minutes to sit up and then washing blood and clumps of hair from your head when you can't even raise your arms, where real facial bruises can swell your face like a melon. But the least glamorous thing is when you catch the way a loved one looks at you when they see what you can do, the fear.
Welcome to the real world. Good violence is a plan B after the failure of plan A. From Russia with love.
Love these clips. HATE the added background music.

Walking in my shoes Depeche mode cover but who is the band covering it?
Humans and animals are very similar in primal instincts. Animals choose the path of least resistance and least risk. They select their prey. Humans also select what they believe is the easiest victim. However, every once in a while an animal chooses a prey that will fight with ungodly aggression. Same applies with humans. Make your predator regret their decision.
