    Huge thank you. I have actually used this to create a shortcut called "Add to Keep Track" because for the past year or so, I have had difficulty in keeping up with things such as scarf, hat, gloves, or tech like my fb glasses or even a GoPro camera or two. The shortcut you created is exactly what I needed to create a note that keeps up where I put things. I even added a date and time so that it lets me know when I added the item to the note. So now, I can say "Face Book glasses left in car" or "FB glasses in closet" and it's going to really help when I no longer need my scarf, hat and gloves - I can now put them away and add that to my note.
    I would have never figured this out on my own! Since I have set this up, it has actually helped me! It's true that I could have just used reminders, but I like appending a note better.
    Again, thank you! Extremely helpful!

    Great to know this is possible. I drive for work, so the more things I can do hands-free the better. Hoping I can find a way to use Siri to select an option from a notification pull-down menu (e.g. when an alarm goes off, you can pull down the notification and select "stop" - but using Siri along the lines of "Hey Siri, from notification select stop").

  • @hosmanadam

    Thanks! Is there any way to skip the back-and-forth? I'm thinking about providing the text as a parameter to the command (the shortcut name) instead of input after the separate prompt. So I would say something like "Add to note the content" which would append "the content" to the note. This is how the Reminders app works, so you can say "Remind me to buy fruit" and it will create a reminder "Buy fruit".

    This is excellent, thank you Gary! Is there a way to make Siri listen for longer, or a follow on prompt for "are you done?" or something along those lines? I have been looking for something like this for a long time to capture my thoughts while I'm driving. I've been fighting with Voice Control (and maybe Siri) with Mac Monterey using a Date Picker. The frustration is that although I can use VC to move between fields, I cannot use VC or Siri to enter a selected month/day/year (textual date picker). One of the options for new Commands in VC/Siri is to link to a Shortcut which I did which generated numbers from spoken text and was supposed to type in the number to the selected month/day/year but it doesn't work (paste doesn't work I assume because the date values cannot be pasted either, only typed). Have you come up with a way to enter data into date pickers with VC or Siri or Shortcuts?

    • @homemovies751
      @homemovies751 Před 2 lety

      @@macmost It’s the standard MacOS textual date picker (no time) with a stepper (NSDatePicker). It’s the “old” kind that does not have a popup calendar overlay. Just 3 fields - Month / Day / Year and a stepper. Changes to any of these three can be made with by selecting one of them and entering numbers with the keyboard, increasing/decreasing values via up/down arrow keys or the stepper (but no pasting). Even with VC “Show Numbers” the control does not have a “number”.
      I have hundreds of scanned photos that I want to change the create date to the date stamped on the photos by my cameras (scanned photos only have the date the they were produced). Dealing with popup calendars and changing years (especially) for randomly positioned photos is difficult. Thought VC would make the process easier and smooth.
      Don’t think it’s possible with VC.
