How to Beat Michael Schumacher

- In 2001, three rookies came into Formula 1. They all had the same dream: to win the championship. But for years, the legendary Michael Schumacher has been dominating the scene. At that moment, all they could think about was how to beat Schumacher. But trust me, the Red Baron surely had no intention of giving up at the peak of his career.
That's why in this video we're going to look at the 2002-2004 seasons. To see how teams built cars that could beat Ferrari and Schumacher. But Formula 1 is a team sport. That's why you need a phenomenal driver. And there were some!
Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso made their debut in 2001. And each of them proved that they could beat Schumacher.
But who will realize it?
Watch the video to the end!

If ur gonna show Jules crash atleast give it a respectful mention not just cut away like its a punchline cmon man
He wrote R.I.P.
If it wasnt for the FIA changing the rules so much since 2003 to stop Ferrari from winning, Schumacher would've been a 10x champion
Completely agree... 2003 was the last time F1 rules were actually good.
Yeah right just by wrecking out the competition when the next driver in the points was his only competitor.
Wreck em and you win 101.
Yes or the time they changed rules to favor red bull and sabotaged Hamilton
@@evs251 It wasn't even close to what the FIA did to Ferrari starting in 2003. & Hamilton was winning with Mercedes because the FIA changed the rules in 2014 to favor Hamilton and Merc in the first place, if the FIA didnt change the rules to the engines that Mercedes wanted, Hamilton would only be a 1x champion, and rightly so, because Hamilton is nothing more than an average driver. He shouldn't even be in the list of records next to names like Schumacher, Fangio and Senna. He's a disgrace to the recordbook, the luckiest whining crybaby f1 driver ever.
@@Haltzothat why Hamilton had races like 2008 Silverstone where all the great drivers at the time were spinning and unable to find traction whilst Hamilton was basically flawless? Or how he was able to compete with a two time world champion in equal machinery in his rookie season? Or his battle with Schumacher in Monza 2012?
1st wtf is that thumbnail. Strop this wounded schumacher thing. 2nd. Ferrari/ Ross brawn knew the michelin tire getting wider with more wear since late 2001 but they didnt need to complain about it until 2003, which is clever in my opinion.
Little bit of misinformation in this video.
Michael is a vegetable, essentially dead and the family doesn't have the courage to admit it. Doesn't change that he is possibly the greatest of all time. Besides, it's just the internet, that's how it goes. The thumbnail got you to click and comment, that increases engagement and boosts the video's performance. Relax.
@@cuy50 he is a vegetable, but not dead. Two different things.
And the OP has a point.
@@cuy50 Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke, fortunately with Schumacher cheaters never prospered. 1994, 1997 and 2006 to name a few. Brilliant driver who cheated to win at all costs.
This video is all over the place and this was not a rookie battle
Dude holy shit this video was so ass 😂😂 the amount of open ended questions and useless branch offs were like living in a ADHD brain. He doesn’t get how to structure or outline a video without presenting like a PowerPoint it was so hard to listen 😂😂
6:10 The Michelin tire was not expanding. When the tire was wearing down, the tire actually increased the contact patch with the road.
Same result.
Just mentioning Jules would have been absolutely sufficient, that's for sure.
Never realized Montoya, Raikkonen and Alonso all started the same year, that's crazy. I bet you could ask 3 random fans who is the best out of them and get 3 different answers every time haha.
Only if you're asking Montoya's and Raikkonen's Mums. 99.9% of people know full well Alonso's head and shoulders above those two, it's not close. Both Raikkonen at McLaren and Montoya at Williams lost the championship driving the best car, whereas Alonso consistently puts his car where it doesn't belong.
@@creepingdread88 Call me Senora Montoya then haha. I was lucky enough to see JPM race in person 2 times and just fell in love with his swashbuckling style of racing. But I do agree that Alonso has had much better consistancy and maybe has a better mentality for racing, except for the Mclaren years...
@@UnsounderGnome Alonso has a better head game than Montoya did. Montoya was sure interesting though!

”In 2001 Schumacher has been dominating for years.” Well he has only won one of the last five championships.
And still he was the best driver since Sennas death, dont tell me Jacques or Hakkinen were faster :D
@@method0409 Schumacher was a cheat nothing more a complete animal who had no respect for anyone else on track.

Fantastic video. I started getting into F1 about a year or two ago and you're channel is very informative on how the FIA used to be and other historical events in F1's long history. Glad to be a subscriber :)

A Verstappen crashing into someone? Now that’s a surprise. Everyone knows you need to get out of the way if a Verstappen is near you.

Especially the British were so desperate for Schumacher to have a competitor they hyped up Raikkonen and Montoya. Raikkonen was quick but not on Schumacher level, Montoya was only midfield quick, could hardly beat Ralf and got destroyed by Raikkonen before he quit F1. Alonso was the only one worthy taking the fight to Schumacher.
03-05 Kimi was the fastest driver on grid. Msc retired due to kimi sign with Ferrari. Ferrari offered him contract to race along side with Kimi in 2007-08. Msc refused so ferrari gave up on him.
@@dexon777 Kimi fastest during 03-05 cannot be proven as most of such comments like ''who is fastest / GOAT etc.'' especially when in different teams or when comparing different era's.
The second part is blatantly false. You just make that up to make Schumacher look bad. If you have any proof for your claim, I am happy to see it.
@@dexon777*03-06, he was unbelievable in 2006 as well, don't leave out that season from him.
@@kevinprengemann7456Not sure about being the outright fastest but there were seasons where he was genuinely unbelievable. In 2003, his qualifying average was a massive half a second on DC, something that neither prime Hakkinen from 1998-00 nor Webber later on in his career were able to achieve (When DC had obviously declined). He was unbelievable against Montoya in 2005-06, where his qualifying average was always more than 0.350, and his race performances were dominant. Hakkinen was the closest to Schumacher, after Senna unfortunately died, so to outperform DC by margins greater than prime Hakkinen and also destroy Montoya (Who was a clear step below Schumacher/Alonso/Kimi, but just behind them) is overall impressive. It shoots him right up with Alonso/Schumacher, and in 2003 in particular, Schumacher wasn't having a good season, so you could make an argument that he was better/more impressive than Schumacher that year. He was almost equivalent to him in 2004/05/06, whereas Alonso was clearly worse than him in 2004 , who had a scrappy season for his standards atleast. Hence your argument is wrong overall. In 2007 though, with the new tires and Ferrari, he was not as good as he was before, still had a decent season given the circumstances and took the championship from Alonso/Hamilton.
@@kevinprengemann7456It's basically stated in Ross Brawn's book that Schumacher was given a chance to race alongside Raikkonen, but he refused it as he gave Massa the chance.
I looooove your videos!!! So entertaining
❤️❤️❤️
that's why Alonso WDC are more valuable than those who won championships with dominant cars. Only the great will win with less dominant car.
Renault was the best car at the begining in 2006. He took the advantage in that time.
@@the_gotcha it may be, but not for the whole season. Not like teams with the dominance for the whole season.
By this way I judge Alonso being above Hamilton and Senna above them both
but to get this right....the FIA did not change once but twice the rules to stop Ferrari from winning cause 3 Titles in a Row where allready too much for them?
But they waited about 7 seasons to finally change the rules significantly to get rid of the Mercedes Dominance?
Yeah sure, completly not pro AMG, no no, the y are completly fair......oh wait.
I hated the period between the late '90s and early 2000s because, during those years, the F1 management and FIA kept introducing stupid rules after stupid rules, often even changing them mid-season. And some of these rules changes were truly bad for the sport, or right away dangerous, often involving the tyres (selection, design, and usage restrictions) and in some case they literally endangered the drivers under particular situations / racing conditions. Thankfully the V10s were beautiful machines to behold and the field was packed with talent like crazy, so the spectacle didn't suffer too much (it certainly did to some extent). But the Ecclestone-Mosley combination was, one of the worst F1's management leadership in the history of the sport, if not the very worst.
Ecclestone just wanted to create some buzz I am pretty sure. Remember sprinklers? 😅
@@socialist2000 nahhh... he really wanted to bring sprinklers to create drama?
@@brokeboybillybaker7270 I remember someone saying that - could've been Mosely or Bernie.

Kimi had horrendous reliability and also often raced with an outdated chassis but still was able to fight during his time with them. If only Mercedes had the reliability it does now
Michael Schumacher ❤ 🤲🏻🥲
Was that Bianchi Jumpscare necessary?
Imagine if JPM cared more about being the best driver instead of being the best father he could..... he made the right choice he doesnt owe us shit.

Very interesting that Kiki Rosberg would see his son Nico Rosberg do the identical thing at Monaco. I wonder where the idea to do that came from?

Didn't Alonso also do same much later?
7:35. Ferrari having other plans is an understatement. Everyone thought it was gonna be close.. and Ferrari straight up proceeded to make a Goliath of a car

I miss Michael Kimi racing. I hope Michael beats the odds and recovers from his injuries.
How to beat Schumacher?
Just take him skiing.
In the beginning your forgot the 4th rookie driving arrows ,enrique bernoldi
This a snapshot of the season.the fia tried for years to stop the Ferrari dominance and I think it really wore Michael down in the end. It’s a business at the end of the day. These games aren’t played anymore funnily enough/strangely it’s more boring!
Funny thing though, even as a Schumi fan and Ferrari for even longer, I started to get tired of seeing him win all the time. Not that I wanted Ferrari to lose, but it was processional at times. Like the years of MB dominance we recently suffered through.
Now I miss those Ferrari days, go figure.
This video is a Déjà vu of the previous videos! 🤔 😮
FIA wanted him to get that 8th championship so bad 😂
OMG man you are legend keep going 🪄

FIA = Ferrari International Assistance
The same FIA stopped him in 2005 by abruptly changing regulations
Yeah
thats why they started to stop them after their 3rd wdc in a row ith new tyre rules and after his 5th in a row with again new rules to stop them.....mhm, didn`t saw that happen to Mercedes between the years 2014 and 2020
@@Sam-rl5hs Yeah, anyone who thinks FIA assisted Ferrari is either a blind hater of Schumacher and Ferrari or simply stupid. What FIA did in 2005 is the most obvious way of interfering in the performance of cars to make someone else World Champion.

The rule change in 2005 with new tyre regulations was the only way for the FIA to stop Ferrari. They could have done it to Mercedes in 2016 or 17 as well, but the driver was british, so why change the rules then ...
Was the beggining of 2001 really the peak of Schumacher? The year after he had won it for the first time in several years...

Michael Schumacher 🐐
You contradicted yourself about the tyres. First part of the video, you said Michelins were great in the heat (not true) then you said Bridgestone was better in heat. Michelin rubber compound provided better tratcion in cooler and rainy conditions. You would see Michelin drivers driving off the racing line to keep the tyres cooler.
The real issue, was Bridgestone. Not the tyre, the company. They supplied every team for some years. The problem was, they gave Ferrari different tyres, they were said to be around a second a lap quicker. That's a large deficit to overcome for other Bridgestone teams. This explains Ferrari's period of dominance, but also why it was a Michelin supplied team that defeated Ferrari, as they no longer had a certain one-second-per-lap advantage. Bridgestone, the FIA and Ferrari made themselves look foolish in 2006. Crybabies, having a tantrum, running to Mosley to ask him to do something about the big nasty Michelin, Renault and Alonso.

The only reason why Michael didn't win his 6th title in a row for Ferrari was because the FIA changed the rules, which automatically put Ferrari at a huge disadvantage due to the tyre regulations.
It was obvious that the FIA did that to prevent Ferrari from winning; and thereby opening up the championships to other teams.
And before some fanboys start accusing me of being a Ferrari fanboy, I confirm that I am not, nor have I ever been a fan of Ferrari's. I actually have disdain for them, because their mentality over the decades has been to throw money at every problem.
