I feel bad for ppl who didn't get to watch this series before the remaster.. the show had really good use of music and they changed a lot of it...
The music is the same though? It’s just different voices and different parts of the songs played for the endings I think.
@@gummibears27 they use different bgm timings, and certain songs like the ed are completely different. One of my favorite scenes, for example, are when Kira slaps kagali and the ed fades in, it is completely different in remastered because of new song.. and scene where Frey is about to shoot dearka I think they used a completely different track.
The new version of the first ending loses some of its emotional impact with the addition of more musical notes as it starts, completely takes away from the dramatic effect of the Strike Gundam rising at the end of the first episode that was present in the original version.
I think the single worst change other than voices was the change to how Nicol dies. It was far more impactful when Kira took him out with a swing of the sword than Nicol running into the blade.

I watched the original gundam on cable tv. I still remember they showed that nude scene uncut. Sayla boobs. 80s and 90s tv was the best.

I prefer the original dub than this The voice actors from the original put a lot of their effort into that.
You said it exactly right, I was watching Hikaru no go and Gundam 00 which features the same cast as the original dub. This new dub cast did nowhere near good enough, which is disappointing if you saw their excellent performance on Iron-Blooded Orphans.

This is the Gundam Seed HD Re:Master that I've been waiting for!!! Been waiting a while for this to come out. This is still one of my favorite Gundam Series!
This remaster has issues aka changing all the voices
I still like the original English dubbed by The Ocean Group way back than the all new English redubbed by NYAV Post.
And this series has been reduced from 50 episodes to 48 episodes.
Those are just clip shows that they removed. The back story footage concerning George Glenn, however, was kept and moved to The Respective Solitudes.

Not gonna lie, I prefer Matt Hill Kira, Sam Vincent, and the original cast. They're more iconic considering they've been in other Gundam media, including video games.
Theres also some lines that come off sounding better in the old dub

I remember I watched Seed Destiny first, and throughout the series I saw that they mentioned a lot about the past, so it made me wonder if there was like something that came before, and then I found this, and even now it's still an amazing anime

This is Max Mittelman's second time as the star leading male voice actor to play the main protagonist for the English dubbed version of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise series.
The first protagonist he has voiced was Io Fleming from Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt.
He also voiced Ein Dalton from Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans. Not a main protagonist like Kira or Io, but still a notable role.

Gundam seed may not be my most favorite gundam series but I will always appreciate it for being my first gundam series.
It IS my favorite. This dub is slicing my heart into a million pieces.

this was unfortunately a total redub.
This redub was a disgrace to the series, I say this not simply as a fan of the original dub, but someone who has listened to the original dub over a hundred times to appreciate every single word spoken to know this redub was insulting.
Not wanting to pay the ocean group or getting the original cast back was no excuse, nor not wanting to splice in the original audio as I have found a few sites where someone reuploaded the series with the HD version and took the time to splice in the original dub and I found it to fit about 90% perfectly. Only certain instances were obviously not able to be adjusted properly like the ending of Phase 26: Kira when the ending theme plays over the Kira athrun montages as that uses more footage but if someone could have spliced the original dub with about 90% perfect sync on a home setup no doubt, there is no reason the company that did this redub couldn't have paid a team with more technical resources to bump it up to a full 100% with the money they would have saved from hiring the new cast. I would post a link to these these episodes if I could but as some of you have noticed they are trying to justify this piece of garbage redub by replacing every single version of the original dub with this new one over every single anime streaming site, so there is nothing to compare it to, putting the illusion that this is the only dub in existence.
Speaking of the new cast, I am at a loss for words as I can't believe after they did such good work on other series like Iron-Blooded Orphans they gave a crappy performance in this.
For anyone who ever said Matt Hill made Kira too much of a crybaby, Max Mittelman made him sound a million times worse. He spoke pretty much all his battle dialouge while constantly whining.
Both Athrun and Cagalli's new voices sound like their having an identity crisis. A good example is to take a good listen to the conversation between them in the original dub Phase 31 after Cagalli confronts him over killing Kira then that same conversation in the new dub, there is none of the emotion delivery that Samuel Vincent and Vanessa Moreley gave the characters present. Shame because I really like Cherami Leigh voice,, but when she says stuff like "whoa, slow down there hot rod" to Kira, I just wanted to hit my head against a wall. Cagalli is pretty much the most anime voice acting Vanessa Moreley has done so I can see getting her back would have been an impossibility, but she is still the far superior voice for Cagalli.
Stephanie Step was the one VA I thought could actually properly replace her predecessor Chantal Strand, as they both do gentle voice characters. But she sounded like she was mixing her Mineva voice with her Hinata/Orihime voice too much.
Oh look, Murrue is voiced by Carrie Keranen, she did such a great job as Karta in IBO. No wait, she's just as bad. She is also the narrator voice, but why did she feel the need to do every preview in a emotionless robot voice. The original narrator went the extra mile to give suspence tomake everyone look forwardtothenext episode.
Alexa, Siri, I take back anything bad I ever said about you, there is a worse robot voice out there.
WHY? WHY? Why for the love of all things Gundam couldn't they keep Tabitha St. Germain's and Jillian Michaels existing lines as Haro and Lacus Clynes singing voice. Instead now we get a Haro who won't shut up about birthday cake and ice cream instead of his original comical dialouge. Lacus was originally perceived to be a naive airhead when she was first introduced, well this new singing voice definitely makes her seem like an airhead now, and completely takes away the seriousness that Jillian Michaels gave her song.
Johnny Yong Vosh, while a great VA, just was not right for Dearka, was he trying to give him an accent for sometime?
On top of that why was he, along with Yuri Lowenthal and Michelle Ruff, downgraded to essentially cameo roles. These are legendary voice actors and they didn't bother to utilize them properly. Yuri played Miguel and Michelle was Aisha, characters who had very little lines and died quickly. Add in that Johnny had very little lines as Dearka, this was an insult to these voice actors skill and time, as well as the fans who admire them.
The better casting would have been to have Yuri voice Kira, Johnny as Athrun, and Michelle as Cagalli. The original voice actors Matt Hill and Samuel Vincent made Kira and athrun work in the original dub because they were friends in real life. Johnny and Yuri already have much experience working together and they already have the "best friends trying to kill each other in the middle of a war" chemistry from their time as Suzaku and Lelouch on code geass and Michelle using something like her serious rukia voice would have made a much better Cagalli. If your already paying for these VA's you should use them properly right?
Overall I'm not saying you shouldn't like this new dub if this is your first time seeing Gundam seed, but for those of us that have had the original dub to admire for almost two decades, this was an insult to us original fans and the talents of the original dub cast.
I can only hope once the movie comes out next year that they will not be cheap and pay for the ocean group to dub it, regardless if the full cast can't make it in. We can live with if the HD version will always be this terrible new dub as long as we remember the quality of the original, but the movie will probably already be at a low standard if it follows the same formula of SEED Destiny, it shouldn't be ruined more by another terrible phone-it-in dub.

This show is SO good. Complex characters. Sci Fi world building of exceptional caliber. Varied and exciting settings, themes and plot.

I just started playing SRW J. 2 Gundam series are present in that Game, SEED and G. The Previous Shuffle Alliance feel guilt for their failure to avert the Bloody Valentine Massacre, The Blue Cosmos are the ones who tried to usurp the Ultimate (Devil) gundam, Master Asia attacks the Archangel with his bare hands and freaks out the crew, The SEED cast is aghast that the gundam fight is even a thing. I just like how those parts of the story intertwine

So I finally found it...
I've wanted to get a chance to hear this variation of the dub for quite a while but I could never find it anywhere. This was the first Gundam Series I ever watched from start to finish.
That being said, I can't bring myself to like this dub. There are multiple reasons for this but I am going to try take nostalgia out of the two primary reasons.
The first reason is the prior experience that the main cast had with other Gundam Series. Mittleman and Cherami were both on Thunderbolt and IBO respectively and they performed flawlessly. This doesn't feel like they are giving their all, rather like they filmed this on a tough day for them where the coffee guy didn't show. When compared to Matt Hill and Vanessa Morley's dub performances they do indeed fall short. And Mu's voice is an abomination, enough said.
The second reason is something that has bothered me about Funimation dubs for a while now - the ad libbed lines. I can take the ok voice acting and the cast changes but for the love of god stop putting in lines that aren't there! This is why dub shows like Dragon Maid failed. I'm not interested in hearing your personal take on the characters. Just do your damn job and keep the dialogue provided. Don't know if Marchi was involved in this but she should have been locked in the closet for this one.
I'm not a sub elitist but I would rather they just not continue with a dub for GSD. Shinn and Stella are two of my favorite characters from that one and I'd rather remember them as they were. Besides, Kirby Morrow is gone now and nobody can replace him.
What adlibs?? They did in this show. I can understand jn comedies because jokes kn one language might just not work when translated. But this? Also This isn’t a funimation dub. It’s Nyah post. Funi just published it
I honestly just don’t like a lot of the funination voice actors in general, some are okay but I’ve seen other dubbed anime where they do add extra lines in.. like why ?

Still one of my all time favorite Gundam series to this day this is the remastered version right not bad still prefer the original voices but not bad.

It is rather unusual to redub. I speculate it is because of the actors ages and new SEED series coming out. When the new SEED movie was reannounced, that was enough confirmation for me.

As a pure Gundam seed and Seed destiny fan. The dubbing is truly disappointing everyone sounds really off, I get the whole reason for a recast due to the original ocean dub studio going bankrupt but this new dubbing isn't it. Aside from a few voices I'm hearing with the new cast which actually isn't bad at all kinda cool actually. Kira's and Athrun's new VAs is throwing me off considerably to the point I feel like my ears are bleeding. I'm scared to hear lacus.... But I'll watch on for now it's been years since I watched this it's my favorite anime if all time.
Kiras was the only one that I didn't like to much, I was fine with the others, but yes the original was better

Weird seeing legal Gundam episodes being uploaded by someone other than GundamInfo.
I actually really like the designs of the various ZAFT grunt MS, which makes it all the more disappointing how they get junked for recycled OYW designs in Destiny.
As for the dub, while newbies may find it perfectly fine, as someone who has seen the Ocean dub dozens and dozens of times, hearing the new voices is just so, so OFF. Like, hearing somebody other than Matt Hill and Sam Vincent as Kira and Athrun, much less someone other than Lisa Ann Beley and Trevor DuVall as Murrue and Mu makes me cringe so, so hard. Don't even get me started on replacing Mark Oliver as Rau, possibly the most pitch-perfect voice in the entire series.
EDIT: Also, LOL that they STILL couldn't get text-replacements on the intro and ending, leaving the massive wall of text like on the Ocean dub. Sheesh.
they are probably working off the original like Bandai had. It wasn't until quite a while after that it was made into HD and only released in the JP market.
Someone mentioned the blu-ray to have both dubs. If such, then this is based on the original and you can't overlap the ENG Dub into the remastered version. There are time differences, so this will both be based on the original. (i prefer the remastered opening)

Gundam wing was the first anime I watched with robots when I was younger. seed is one of my top favourites I was so excited when I seen the series and I was excited for my wife to watch it but as soon as I got 10 minutes into the first episode I had to turn it off it wasn’t the original voice actors and I just couldn’t do it. It put a sour taste in my mouth and I can’t watch it. I still have the original series on a external drive But if you haven’t seen the originals you’re gonna love this one no doubt with the voice actors they have!!!
Was kinda hoping Xander would be Athrun so it'd be Ryuji vs Ren for the series but eh this works too lol
I'm still hoping Ray Chase would voice Gilbert Durandal and maybe Bryce Paperbrook as Shinn Auska.
Before the posting of the cast, I was hoping that Kira was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch while Athrun was Yuri Lowenthal sort of like a reverse Lelouch and Suzaku, Kira would sound more like Renton while Athrun would sound a little bit like Sasuke.

😭 WHY??? This is one of the few anime I come back to watch every few years and I was excited to find out it been remastered. But the new voices quickly crushed that excitement.
It’s kinda stupid to remaster an anime with new voice actors that already had good dubbing to begin with🤦♀️ Like why bother if you’re going to do a disservice like that to the fans.

Also, for those unaware, Bandai, Gundam Seed’s original licensor had the first dub commissioned in Vancouver, rather than in LA. The company went bankrupt in 2012, and since it’s extremely expensive to get Ocean to do it again, they chose to do a in-house dub. The reason they didn’t just overlap audios was because there was new content not present in the original version. I believe Sunrise had a hand in the casting as well. Plus, a couple of the OG actors aren’t doing much acting anymore.
Also, Dearka went from being voiced by Light Yagami to Lelouch Lamperouge. How awesome is that?!

I get it, but the nostalgia is constantly yelling at me. That this sucks, especially for the main characters. Like some of the cast could have came back. And as for Natarle Badgiruel voice actor sadly doesn't sound military enough.
And Kira went from Ed from Ed edd n eddy to saitama from one punch man.

I love the Ocean dub. I’m watching this for the first time right now. I’m really hoping Crunchyroll eventually uploads both dubs, until then, I guess I can rely on the physical media I have for Ocean’s dub when what we have on CZcams runs out.

Watching Gundam series and other military animes for years makes you realise why children dont belong on the field of battle. The only one would be Tanya but then again she is a old soul.

@@gilgamesh-cigar4106 I guess a lot of things. MC dynamic similar to Lelouch & Suzaku, female characters similar to Kallem & Euphemia, Sunrise trying to mainstream popularize thier mechs by incorporating elements of other genres. I mean I think that's a good start.
Gundam Seed has others that are similar from the same character designer.... Though Code Geass character designers was CLAMP...
@@wuverrabbit Yeah, but Sunrise made Code Geass as well. Also I remember reading that the creator of Code Geass was heavily inspired by Gundam. Between the heroic looking white robot vs the monstrous red one, the masked man seeking revenge against an authoritarian government, etcetera.
Well the animation is similar to code geass, thanks to sunrise working with clamp.

Wow this is different. Makes me think about when Pokemon changed the whole Cast for Season 9 and threw many of us long time fans off for good. I've gotten used to the new Dub over time. So I'll give this new Seed Dub a chance too.

I'm still compiling my full thoughts, I don't think my issues are completely with the new VA's. But why change already established dialog? For example when Cagali is first introduced I thought it was brilliant to refer to them as "they" as androgynous as she appears at first. Second, when Kira yells that he's heading for the other shelter Murrue replies, "There's nothing LEFT of that block!" Which imo provided so much more emotion and a much more solid reason for Kira to follow with her instead of..it's not as safe..why? Because some random EF soldier told you? Hell no, they're actively shooting at YOU lady, I'll take my chances. Maybe I'm being nitpicky, though if this is a trend in the new dub I think a lot of soul will be missing.
I just seen that the whole Gundam ( GS,GSD,GW) series is on stand by for watchlist on Google tv, I hope Gundam Seed the old dub (episode 1-35) gonna be up for purchase. or I’m not gonna get the whole Gundam series’s on Google tv.

No, she made her too whiny. I love Cherami Leigh, but she ruined Cagalli with lines like "whoa slow down there hot rod". Cagalli was pretty much all the anime voice acting Vanessa Moreley ever did, but she put a lot more effort into giving Cagalli a voice.
I just would like the option to view the original Bandai, sunrise 2004 cast. I don't mind if it's not as visually updated. Same thing for Escaflowne and any other show. Makes me wonder how many more shows are they gonna redub?

The new VAs don't fit at all, and seem to be nearly indistinguishable. Just lifeless.
It's a good thing I made a backup of the entire original dub. The original dub can almost be considered lost media now, you cannot find the original dub online anymore

Are you serious they really scrubbed it the same way they scrubbed the original patlabor movie manga dubs or even the 20th Century Fox dub of my neighbor Totoro which is completely different from what Disney did and also can only be found on old VHS tapes it’s nowhere to be found on digital media they’ve done the same thing to this series thank God I have the entire series on DVD way before this remastered came out

I want to point out as ex military that if we assume alpha is the first pod of four suits then the other if group leads would follow with call sign 1... in reality any way. But I know it's anime so I forgive them
Japanese anime isnt always very accurate with english. Especially in the old version(this is the remastered version) there were lots of giberish on the various screens
