@@lonestar199 Exactly man, Luffy gear 5 and kaido at full force could go either way but Law and Kidd would have definetly been too damaged if she took them seriously from the start. The frightening thing is the combo attack, they most likely didn't put everything into it so it implies there's a stronger version of it too.

People overlook the fact that Kidd's attack was so strong that shanks saw him as a threat.
Well, i doubt Shanks saw him as a threat. He just didn't want any unnecessary damage so he dealed with it quickly.
Your overlooking that all of shanks fleet are weak and old and are under his flag for protection, He was a threat to the innocent people around him yes but not to Shanks or his crew

As an audio production student, I just want to take a moment to appreciate how sound design was used to illustrate Shanks' speed. If you listen to the sound of Kids Damned Punk charging at 0:20 you hear the pitch climbing pretty steadily, then, from 0:31 to 0:48 the pitch stays exactly the same! It doesn't continue to climb in pitch again until right before Shanks uses Divine Departure
That attention to detail adds so much to this scene, and is something I never would have noticed before!
Check out the other clip of Kid wiping out the fleet. You will hear it charge at regular speed!

@@BepoD.Bear25 one piece production currently has one flaw which is the sounds. It's just overused and it's the same music and sounds they've been using for the past decade.. they're outdated sounds and due to the library not being so extense, you can predict what sounds will be used and some of them aren't exactly fitting to what should be being played as they don't have anything else to cover it
One thing I must say even as a Shanks fan. The scene with Kid and Killer is actually quite deep. Kid always being overconfident and not caring if he suffers from consequences. But this time his best friend and crew paid the price for his actions and you can see Kid regretting that deeply, as he slowly falls unconcious. Major character development incoming.

Yes, without forgetting that Kid and his crew are not saints… the scene (Kid crew) followed by this @sswhoop reminded us that in the world of One Piece, sometimes the Captain's orders have more consequences than we viewers can think of.

Seeing Shanks finally in action was worth waiting 25 years
We seen some of his action in the red movie. He deflected attacks and speed blitzed the fastest admiral.
Egghead is crazy, it started no more than 24 eps ago, and 4 episodes that are masterpieces in terms of animation and direction, the opening chapter of the arc, Luffy vs Lucci, Law vs Blackbeard and now Shanks vs Kid. It literally doesn't look like a weekly broadcast work
these episodes are made months in advance. It's not like they get all this done in a week. The better their scheduling is the better the episodes will be

Man the ost at 0:56 is godly. Only fit to display overwhelming power and it makes Shanks even more badass. For Kid it just feels devastating like brother you needed to get out of there like out, not stay and attempt to start a fight because he didn’t even managed to do that.
This is why Shanks is so powerful. Unlike many other characters, he doesn’t eff around in a fight.
Exactly, I think that is a detail a lot of people miss. Shanks deals with a threat. Unlike his fellow Yonko's, Kaido and Big Mom. They capture people they have no business capturing, Shanks actually takes the "Worst Generation" seriously. There is a reason, he are still here and they aren't (they actually probably aren't dead, because this is One Piece, but they aren't Yonkos anymore)

If Law and Kidd had chosen differen than Kidd would have lost against Blackbeard but Law and his crew would have been fine because Law wouldn't have picked a fight with Shanks.

I know it sounds stupid but I think it's quite interesting how Shank's blade movement is reverse of Roger's. Almost like Shank's form starts where Roger's left off.

I would argue he isn't that strong because he doesn't utilize any form of advanced haki. Heck he doesn't even use the base forms of haki. So his potential is quite high.
To his crew and the surroundings, not Shanks himself or even Beckman
Oh he's definitely weak. In haki usage. Kaido said it best, can't conquer jack without haki. All he did was awaken his fruit.

@kaori1621 if shanks would have got hit by that attack he would be one shot along with Ben beckman which is why he had to attack kid when kid was at his most vulnerable while charging his attack. I am pretty sure that attack has an 11 second charge time. Kid also can't move or do anything while charging it.

For all the chapters of one piece, it does strike me how this is probably the first time (if not the first time in a long while) that we get to see what Shanks is truly capable of. Someone who seemingly rarely fights, but when he does, it does seem to end just as quickly as it starts (or when he shows up to a fight, the fighting comes to an abrupt halt).

He may be the only non-Devil Fruit Emperor, but he’s a BEAST who deserves to be in the Finals of the Laugh Tale Arc.

The aura of Shanks’ sword gave me chills. He’s been my favorite character since the first chapter - for a reason.
This one episode is the most we’ve ever seen him do in terms of actual action.

I didnt even catch that Shanks observation haki let him see so far into the future that it allowed him to prevent Kidd's attack from happening in the first place. I thought Kidd was charging a second attack but was still the first one. Shanks has that "I'm Him" Haki.
