  • James Kelly of Scot Goes Pop gives his views on the forthcoming EU parliament elections and how best to use your vote to further the cause of Scottish independence. Despite the SNP taking more seats than all other parties put together in the UK General election of 2017, the media framed Ruth Davidson's modest gains a 'win' and a set-back for Yes. The SNP are projected to do well in the EU vote but nothing can be taken for granted. The Scottish Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Labour have made this election about independence. It's time to send unionist parties and the media a message they can't ignore. Use your vote on Thursday 23rd May.

Why would you want Scotland back in the EU? Thats not very independent is it? What would Wallace think of that.

Little steps Dan ... We gain more Independence by leaving the UK than by leaving the EU 😉

@@SkyEcho7 That's an awful argument and a frankly blinkered view of reality. The EU is a failed operation and is a sinking ship. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to see the Kingdom of Scotland rise once more - problem is the idiots in the SNP (who are in no way nationalist) I wouldn't trust to run my bath, let alone my country.

@@danep8553 You looking forward to Boris Johnson as PM?

@@Shinjock You are mistaking what i am saying. I do not particularly like the UK as i political and financial entity, Scotland and England should be separate in those regards. I just do not see why we need to beg the EU to let us back in. It goes against everything that is 'independant'. IE asking the EU for handouts in exchange to travel to Spain once a year with relative ease.

@@danep8553 I understood what you said. You don't want *incompetent* "idiot SNP" running your country yet the flip side of that is letting Boris Johnson or Dominic Raab run your country instead. The top two current favourites. Famed for their razor sharp intellect and *competence.*
It also seems a little odd that you'd so love to see the "Kingdom of Scotland" rise again and proclaim that Scotland and England should be separate entities yet you seem so totally opposed to the only current serious political party working to achieve that goal. You want Scotland to be *completely* independent but don't want the SNP (or anyone currently in the SNP presumably) to be the ones governing it. How long are you planning to wait around for your perfect political party to appear or for this ideal scenario to come into play? Is this something you expect to occur in your lifetime?
If not now with the SNP then when?
PS: Small thing but if you're having a discussion on this topic in the future then the least you could do is spell "independent" correctly. Especially when you're trying to present to people some lofty nuanced political view that seems to have taken you an impressive amount of mental gymnastic contortions to reach.
