Flying Pig - Butcher shop string dispenser to provide the string the butcher paper was tied up in. I grew up with a butcher shop at the back of my village’s only General Store and the meat was cut, weighed, wrapped in paper and tied up with a string before being handed over by the butcher. The price of the varies meats were shown in interchangeable red numbers, fitted into white frames that stuck into the trays of meat products. There were no pre-packaged meats, the butchering was down in a room right behind the meat counter. Old School!
You mentioned that particular pig was a Dept 56 bird house. But the pig's mouth opening seems too small for a bird to enter, but the hinged back would make cleaning it out easier.
I still think it would make a better string dispenser then bird house. Over the years, especially when I was working at auctions, I've seen dispensers made from many other shapes, sizes and material. Animal string dispensers were common and could be shaped like Dogs, Cats, Monkeys, Elephants, Bee Hives and more. You see them as chefs (for tying meet up for cooking), faces, maidens and other trades. They can be wood, ceramic or cast iron, made to hang, mount on the wall mount or sit on counters. The further you go back, the more common it was to see them in houses and shops where packages and products were wrapped in paper and tied up with string.
Growing up my next door neighbor was called John the meat man, knock on his door and he would come out in his white butcher jacket and go to his garage and sell all kinds of meat, another guy sold fruit and vegetables out of his station wagon, another guy sold clothes etc.out of the trunk of his car,and milk and eggs were still delivered to your back door.
@@moladhdodhia164 For a few years when I was in grade school my father was an old style milkman, with a delivery truck. On some Saturdays one of us boys would ride along his route and take the milk and other dairy items up the steps and either put them in an insulated box on the porch or in one of those small side doors that used to be built into many suburban houses for dairy delivery. One of the dairy guys, back at the depot, who helped fill the orders for the deliveries would always put a couple extra quarts of chocolate milk into my dads truck, when he saw he had a "helper" going along. I still have a fondness for chocolate milk. 🙂

Im back lol. About the trophys, when i was a kids i won so many trophies in horse shows and when I moved into my own house, i didn't have room for my dust collection, so I gave most all of them to our rodeo Roundup club to give to the little kids for winning. Yea my bame was on a little metal plate, so i just popped it off, washed off the glue and they were as good as new.
Auction Item Swapping: back when I worked at an auction house, people shifting around items in pre-set lots was a constant problem during preview and even on the day of the sale. Using those 2 lots of Bead and Pin baskets as an example, folks would try to shift all the pieces they wanted over into one lot (thinking it would go unnoticed) so they only had to bid on 1 of the lots, to get those they most wanted. When we caught them on camera or in person, their bidding privileges would be suspended.

I had game boards hanging on the wall in the game room. Mine weren’t as pretty because the wood was painted/washed. I think it would be awesome in Rogers office!!!!!

I used to pray for the perfect man for me, but obviously God has a different plan for me or I He hasn't introduced him to me yet, its all in Gods timing, but I don't have high hopes anymore in him coming along...and thats okay too. To be honest, i had the perfect man for me, but 3 years ago he passed away 😢. I think about him many times every day and I miss him dearly. I know he's in heaven having the best time, in no more pain and waiting for me..❤❤❤

I just bought a lot of hobnail Fenton milk glass. A lady had collected or hoarded the neatest hoard I’ve seen. From the 50s-80s. Everything you can imagine diligently wrapped and stored.

I have my parents what they called their canasta table. It has the inlay work like your table. Just not quite as much of it. My table has the crisscross legs which I thought you said the other day is actually a puzzle table. Who knew 🤷♀️. It’s very lovely,collapses against the wall made of all wood. I’m keeping it and enjoying it as a decorative piece.

Stained Glass Windows: my wife likes to hang them inside modern windows, to catch the light on windows that don’t have an appreciated view, instead of a window treatment.
Old Paint Brushes and Leather Triangular stool: the antique round brush looks like the style used in France for painting or putting up wall paper. They preferred round shapes to flat, like ours.
The triangular leather stools were very common in southern Cali, back in the 1970s because they were available cheap just over the border in Tijuana, Mexico. We had 2 or 3 at our place, back then.

I’ve sold some vintage sailing regatta trophies from large sailing clubs/marinas. Silver plate. Some people use them for nautical decor. I also have what looks to be exactly like the middle section of your wood panel. We use as our chess board. It’s vintage 1970’. (Mine) ha-ha. White. Yup!
You could put the checker board in top of regular basic square table and make a brand new table

Black bottomed pottery pieces are called raku. It is a different way the pieces were fired.
I used to be a set designer for Spanish soap operas. I bought LOTS of trophies-and all kinds of other things!
That stained glass window was beautiful. My parents had one that size they hung vertically from chains in the entry way of our home. It was an old window from my mom’s great grandmother’s home. My sister currently has it. It will remain a family heirloom hopefully for as long as it’s intact. Great video! Thanks Karen! 😊

My dad, who has always loved making unique items with wood, has done some things similar to your tabletop with repurposed wood. He loves telling the stories behind where he found the wood. I would love to know the story behind your piece.
I have purchased trophies to get the marble pieces. I’ve used one to mount a Jaguar hood ornament- it makes a lovely coffee table piece that is unique. So yes, trophies can be great for crafters to use parts of them.

Marquetry Game Board: too bad the backer verner was peeling, but the front looks great.
For a 3 decades I’ve had a wooden table top of a similar size that I found in Japan. It also lacked its legs, but I was so impressed by the quality of the wood joinery, I hung it on the wall. I actually still have it, but there is no place in the new, downsized house for it.
Go back to the table you ask the guy about the curing or whatever it's called and you bought something there. Anyhoo there was a brown tea pitcher setting on the corner of the table, I want it so badly! 👍🏻🤝
I love watching your flea market videos! So fun to see what’s out there. Our flea markets have also gone up in prices and seem to be priced for what I could barely get on eBay. I don’t blame a lot of resellers setting up at the markets these days. Nothing like a cash sale. I’m having some luck this season sourcing at yard sales. But you never know! No wings. Pigs that fly have wings. I think its a reproduction and a string holder, for when paper was tied not taped. But, its a reproduction like many of the other things on the tables you showed.
