Installing Giant Loop Pannier Mounts on Norden 901 Expedition Pannier Racks

- I was able to modify my Giant Loop quick release pannier mounts to fit the stock pannier racks on the Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition. While this did require me to drill a few holes, I have been pleased with the way the panniers go on and off the bike.
I've been using the Giant Loop Mototrekk panniers for a while now and they've served me well. Between the Mototrekk panniers and the Tillamook duffle bag, I've been able to comfortably carry all my camping gear on my Royal Enfield Himalayan. So it was important to me to get these fitted to the Norden.
I have several camping trips planned this fall and winter and can't wait to get the bike fully loaded and head out into the woods.

I removed the factory bags and racks before the first ride and sold them. Replaced with tusk quick release racks. I like those GL bags you have and hopefully the factory rack holds up for you! Cheers!
After about 1000 miles with them I haven’t noticed any problems. I do wish I had a full rectangle mount. But I want to keep using these if I can.
The Tusk bags seem like a great value. I almost got a set myself. 😁

I had a hard drop in a parking lot last week. They didn’t budge. I’m now confident these will hold up just fine.
That said, check out all the options. If I were starting fresh, I might go with the Mosko bags. They are a lot more expensive but do have some cool features.
I do love my GL bags though. 😁

Was looking for a solution for my Norden OEM bag failure and found your video. This looks like a great solution, but you mentioned the OEM bags as being OK. They actually are dangerous and break very easily. The bags plastic mounting hardware will snap and your bag can fall completely off with any reasonable load in them. I am not talking about the plastic hooks but the connection bar to the bag. It really needs to be made of Aluminum. I did like the bags and they carried what I needed for a BDR, but they are not a good and dependable way to go. The mount however, is solid enough to lift your bike with and does not look like those other ugly pannier mounts. Thanks for doing this review, I am going to give it a run. Any problems with the exhaust heat on the bag?

😁 It’s an Apache case from Harbor Freight. I attached it directly to the rear rack using the existing bolt holes with fender washers on each side. Maybe I should do a video on that… 🤔

How did the racks hold up? The owners manual states that the maximum payload per side is 3kg(7lbs), which is next to nothing really.
Seem to be working great. I did a 1000 mile road trip in the fall and they performed perfectly. No problems at all.
The OEM racks are solid, you can use them to pick up the bike if needed. I loaded my OEM bags with 17 lbs per side and no issues what so ever on street at 120 and hundreds of miles of BDR in ID and WA. The bags plastic connection point is the failure point.
