This is the third shakedown run in a series of three. I'm preparing for a 5 day moto-camping trip scheduled this fall:
1. Fully Loaded Short Trip

Thx for your video. Please look out with that high screen when going away from the tarmac. I had it bumping very hard against the chinpiece of the helmet. One inch lower and i would have been very hurt. Although even i was aware that this could happen. So i replaced it with a lower screen and used the add-on vizor. It is also better for a helmet attached camera.
I am also a coffee-junkie. I always take a grinder and beans. And a perculator that i owned for 30 years. Without coffee in the morning is horrible.
May i suggest to buy an orange watertight bag for the medical kit ? I attach that with very strong velcro on the frontfender. So it does not matter wich side the bike fals on. And i also do that in the hope that other people see it much quicker when needed. I like to do large tours. Four till eight weeks. A proper medical kit is a must.
On the sides of the engine-guard a made clips on several points. So i can attach some very small pouches at them. Storing light stuff in those. They give an extra 4 liters at each side.
I wish you safe travels.
Tolles Video und die Husquana werde ich mir auch kaufen....Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland
🙏 Much appreciated!
Much Enjoyment 👍😎
Might want to leave the jeans at home - no good when wet.
🙏 thank you 😁
That's the bike I want next. I love my Tiger 800xc, but that 901 Expedition is calling my name. Great video - thanks for the stoke!
I considered an XC a few years ago. Ended up in a VStrom. 🤦♂️
What are the main upgrades/features you’re looking for in the Norden?
@@advmike I love the xc but it's pretty bare when it comes to controls. Can't turn off ABS, no phone integration. At times I can roll pretty heavy with gear and the lack of power to get up to speed shows. My brother has a Norden 901 and it just fits me overall a lot better than my 2014 Tiger.
I have owned the 800 XC about 5 years. And although i liked it. The 901 Expedition is a so much greater bike.
Good stuff, Mike. I always appreciate videos like these, even though I have my moto-camp stuff pretty well squared away already. I never know when I'll pick up a cool idea or gadget recommendation from someone. I'm not too far up the road from you, I'm just north of Huntsville. Maybe I'll catch you on the roads over in GA/NC/SC/TN someday. It's one of my favorite getaway spots on my GSA.
So many good roads up there! Any go-to equipment that's been essential to your kit?
@advmike Aeropress. 😁 On a more serious note, a small bike specific tool kit/tire plug kit. I forego the battery pump and opt for Co2 cartridges, as it saves some weight. I have a 2p tent (Marmot Tungsten) and Nemo bag. The other "essentials " list depends on if I'm actually camping or glamping for a long weekend at my buddy's place in a cabin. If I'm camping, I obviously bring a camp knife, cooking gear/pot, etc. Identical stuff, pretty much exactly what you brought. Trip length may dictate some changes, though.
I absolutely hate generators when camping
I'd moto camp if I could be off by myself but not in a campground although it could have something to do with the fact I've owned and still own a campground for the last 34 years and it's not where I'd want to be on my time off. Mostly I'd probably stay in a hotel although I don't get much time off during riding season so I'm mostly just day trips. I don't mind watching you do it though. Thanks.
Very kind of you. Enjoy those day trips! ;)
👍
😁
Little tip if I recall correctly, try setting your mic audio to mono. that way to plays in both ears, I think.
Good call out - I think I added a mono recording to a stereo track. 🤦♂
