  • Apollo Futurebit BTC hash rate and profitability mining Bitcoin: I have been running my Apollo Futurebit BTC on Slushpool for 4 days, gives an early indication of profitability .
    ** UPDATE ** October 2021: My UK Electricity distributor Symbio has gone bust and I no longer have 12.5p ww electricity, it is expected to jump to 22p kw and alas I can no loner mine profitably with this unit in the United Kingdom. I suspect the rise of power costs is being experienced across Europe.
    Rough profitability numbers (early September 2021):
    BTC at $50,000 = 0.2 USD
    BTC at $45,000 = 0.11 USD
    Mining stats & costs : stable 24 hours at 2.437 TH, Power 159 w, my electricity 0.17 USD.
    Please subscribe, I would love to get to 1000 subscribers. Thanks for your support.
    SET UP
    You will need a power supply, if you know what you are doing you can use your PC spare cables from PSU (if it is strong enough, I think you will need a spare 300w).
    If you have the standard version you will need a USB controller, I planned to use a raspberry pi 3b. The disk images for set up are here:

    The website support page is a bit limited

    The bitcointalk official thread for set up is here

      @TechNewOld  Před 2 lety +3

      well ETH is still super profitable and because its coming to an end in 6-18 months not too many ASICS are coming into the market, which means GPUs still a very interesting option . I agree profitability is disappointing. You can pimp them up and get about 3.5TH output, but you need to figure out your cooling.

      Let’s see what we can do. I have one running on f2pool and just bought another unit which I will run on lite coin pool.org. They are noisier …. But if buy at the right price , can be profitable in roughly 12 months (cover hardware). On balanced, I was making 0.01 LTC on litecoinpool.org for a long time. But inside the house, has to be on eco mode due to noise.

    • @TechNewOld
      @TechNewOld  Před 2 lety

      I’m not sure about integrating with an existing node: that is well beyond my knowledge grade. Sounds like an interesting project. The full package is really nice. Maybe they will release the OS for a Raspberry pi soon , and that will be a cheap way to control basic unit. Solo makes sense .

  • @indianastones9884

    There are basicly mo cheap ASIC Miners. Im thinking about founding a company making cheap USB Asics(price aim would be 20-30$ a Unit) and smaller Miner available that provide Mining and Node(Podminer around 400-600$ range) capable equitment. Unfortantely Raspberrys are unobtanium atm and China doesnt help either for my first prototypes. On Europe Mainland i get totally overcharged for buying one of the smaller Asics! First we have to weather the upcoming Storm.

      @TechNewOld  Před 2 lety +2

      Sorry for late reply. Great post/question: the concept is great, and the Apollo BTC are perfect for home or the workplace. Unfortunately they are just not (very) profitable. One way to look at it, is that you are not mining for $$$ but rather for Satoshi and one day they will be worth 10x : so basically a change in mindset. Your next option is to try and mine with 0 electricity : the main unit can be used as a computer and could be taken to a place of work (the mining part is super quiet). Finally you could look to sell the units as they are relatively expensive and buy one RTX 3070 or 3080 non LHR you will get better returns (as long as ETH algo is still mineable).
