So sad to see it so derelict. I went there a few times when I was a boy in the 70's -my grandparents lived in Keresley. I cant remember what the shops were except post office and paper shop where I got my sweets, but I do remember the place as being clean and thriving and no jungle in the middle

Ive lived in Keresley about 10 years. So here's an update on what's happened recently.
The "Pitstop" actually was Keresley Community church as a satellite to St Thomas Church from the early 90s until a couple of years ago. The block with the smashed windows was for a short time a lovely little cafe called Madhatter and the RH unit was a hairdresser. A new owner purchased the block, doubled the rents and is now totally impossible to trace. Council are involved. The Old post office had just closed when I moved in and is now based at the One stop by the chippy. There have been a couple of plans for the old post office both of which havent come to fruition. First an holistic healing centre (just what an old pit village needs - LOL) and then a Muslim Community centre - the planners rejected that for a whole raft of reasons. The good news is that the Premier store is fantastic and run by two really lovely blokes who are 100% community minded.
Thank you for the video - it must be heartbreaking to see the village centre in such a mess. Sadly two of the blocks now have absentee landlords and the council seem reluctant to deal with the issue.
Of course the other big issue is the Golden Eagle. I loved that pub when i first moved here and the locals made us feel so at home and were a big part in my decision to buy here after my divorce.
Thanks for the video. I wish i had known the village better in the good times - just before it closed I spent a night in the Eagle the Vinny (who ran it at the end) got out a whole load of old photo albums and scrapbooks. It was a wonderful evening!

Keresley where? There's a Keresley in Coventry (I was born in Keresley Hospital - which became The Royal Court Hotel), or are you talking about another Keresley in Durham?
