  • Hey guys! I know its been a while, but there have been no new releases that have sparked my interest. So I decided to go back and play one of my favourite series; Darksiders 1 and 2. Which then led to me wanting to play number 3, which I hadn't played until recently. These are my thoughts on the game! I would love to hear what you think about it!
    If you could leave a like and subscribe it would be very much appreciated! Also all criticism and feedback is welcome! So don't be shy to comment. Will also happily debate with you guys over aspects of the game and options people have about certain elements of the game.
    As it stands I cant promise another game videos will be out soon. Because at the end of the day I play a lot of games and only some end up being reviewed.

    I recently finished Darksiders 3 and enjoyed the entry despite its drastic design direction unlike its predecessors. It also helps that I'm also into the metroidvania and souls-like games, and despite the lack of zelda-like puzzles I come to love from the series, DS3 is still worth playing in my opinion. Would be neat to see DS4 utilizing a combination of the positives from the first 3 mainline titles to make something great.

      @SlickGaming1  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeh well it uses metroidvania and souls elements and makes it a somewhat easier game to approach.100% agree, if they make 4 a mix of all the titles, I'm sure it would sell well.

      I kinda like it's direction, although it took me halfway through the game and one replay to grow on me, because basically each game had a unique style. Zelda and God of War, Prince of Persia and now Dark Souls. if Darksiders 4 becomes like Bayonetta, I'm asking this franchise in marriage!
      And hey, the DLC void area was definitive proof the creators LISTENED to the fans, because they kept the games identity while rescuing the previous's with heavy puzzle dungeon crawling and bosses that require some extra braincells to figure out.

    Amazing video, I am one of those who has played the Darksiders games several times, in my opinion this is an incredible video game, it tries to be different from its predecessors considering that it has a new protagonist and it had been 6 years since the launch of Darksiders II, this The game was made with a much lower budget than the previous ones, therefore I knew that perhaps the technical quality was going to be lower. Lastly, I am very grateful for this game because I really didn't think there was another Darksiders going and I still remember when I saw the trailer for Fury on IGN, I almost started to cry so I was going to play it and enjoy it even if it had been a game of cars or sports lol.

      I didnt realise they had a smaller budget for this gam, but that would explain a lot of the missing features and the lack of quality in some areas. Don't know why everybody seemingly are sh*tting on this game. I recently played it (as the first Darksiders game ever), and I consider it an hidden gem. Beautiful graphics (which everybody also seems to hate), silky smooth 60fps, decent combat (feels good to dodge at the right moment), decent platforming, decent puzzles, decent story telling (the story is better than the execution), backtracking in metroidvania style. On the downside the leveling system and weapon upgrades are too simple, and the camera only nearly works. The camera is really bad. And combat is also a bit too simple.

    I find it funny that Fury feels the weakest of the 3 Horsemen we played so far despite she has full access to her power from the begining lore wise because she was sent by the Charred Council. War was nerfed because he was punished and had much of his strength stripped from him and Death nerfed because he was going something not sanctioned by the Charred Council thus not having full access to his full power.

    • @SlickGaming1
      @SlickGaming1  Před 3 lety +1

      I do agree. However Fury had to slay the 7 sins, which the chard council said had required the 4 horseman last time. But you are right, she doesn't have anything restricting her power at the start, yet she is really weak. And build on it over the game.

One thing that was not even mentioned however is that this game was developed with nearly HALF of the budget that Darksiders 2 had and probably lower than Darksiders 1. Having execute animations, extra dungeons with puzzles for example is all extra dev that costs money. Also, am not trying to be picky, but you are also complaining about things that are tight to the game balance - for example, imagine the hammer with the storm hollow enchant for chaining damage. You will clear a room with 1 perfect dodge.

    While I have mixed opinions about this game, it may be a good game but if I ever complain about something is lack of horse riding which if it was in the game everything would’ve been forgiven. Another reason why I got mixed opinions is the fact that fury is depicted as a mage(and you can read that in google and the game’s description on ps store) and since I was expecting that before playing ds3 she doesn’t feel like a mage now I know she has arcane damage but if the devs wanted to make you feel like she’s a mage they could’ve just give some spells to cast with its own magic meter and make her a balance between melee and magic but sadly in the darksiders boardgame her arsenal feels more interesting wrath wise. There’s even a reddit page where you can read people’s disapointment about that but I wonder if her gameplay will change in the ds5 or the sequel to genesis but anyway at 5:03 what mod did you use for fury? she looks better than she does in base game.

    This game could’ve been awesome if not forced into being a souls-like. Souls-likes about tailor crafted enemy design and animations yet none are present here.
    They knew how to make an action rpg filler with puzzles and should’ve just done that. It’s a good game but a terrible souls-like and overalş quality is affected by it.

    Normally when I post a comment replying to reviews I would usually give a counter argument to why I disagree. But for this I won't. I will just tell what I think of Darksiders 3 as a game. Personally I loved it alot. I didn't really care about the changes game to to game as long as it feels like a Dark Siders game if that makes sense. Which is does it me atleast. As far as RPG mechanics I don't care either way. I was more intrigued in the combat side of things then rpg elements. Once I had gotten to end game I just stuck to the spear mostly since the special attack scales with intelligence. But the game did frustrate me at times. A few enemies like the hammer wielding skeletons and the angels dealing very high damage with litte time to react especially when mixed in with smaller mobs. But the game overall was very fun and I was surprised how well they handled Fury's character growth. In conclusion was this game a Masterpiece? No
    Does it deserve the criticism it gets from reviews? Thats subjective really.
    Do I love this game? Absolutely 100% outside of a few bugs on release and few nitpicks I have Personally. Darksiders 3 is my favorite game in the series so far and I can't wait to see what they do with the offical 4th entry. ^_^ Great review and it was interesting to hear your point of view.

    You forgot the worst part of DS3, the crystals based boost.
    In DS2 you can assign the potions to a shortcuts and use without distracction from the combat, is perfect . In DS3 you have 12 in a rotary selector that takes a long time to circle to find an item and they use the same image and painted the same color increasing the time to ID. Meanwhile you only have fracctions of a second to react to the enemy or you will die. Is crap, the biggest downgrade of a mechanic in a game series I ever experience.

      From memory there was a button you could use to quickly swap that to a healing potion. I believe it was down on the D-pad. But again it doesn't solve the issue, because there are varying strengths on the healing items, so quickly swapping to one, doesn't guarantee its the one you want.

      It's a bit of a messy development for the franchise. So Darksiders 1 and 2 were developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ Nordic. However Vigil Games split, I can't remember why they did, and a lot of their team went to work for Gunfire games who also helped develop Darksiders 2. Obviously THQ wanted a third Darksiders game so they asked Gunfire games to make it. Hopefully that isn't to confusing.

The game design is unpolished to the point that it becomes game breaking. In terms of your point about darksiders 1 and 2 being vastly different, I agree to an extent, I think that Darksiders 2 added and built on everything that was in darksiders 1, the only thing was, now there's a RPG inventory system with abilities and mechanics. That's why I feel some people don't notice a difference, because the gameplay doesn't change dramatically. Just more features are added.
