    I cant believe what the level of production you reached with the -on the road- external camera! Its following you around, shooting from various angles, turns to show the points of interest as you re talking about them! Since day one, the video quality was top notch but you re evolving, setting the standard! Love your presentation too, but I would like more -on the road- captures! Thank you for the review!

Already got the m4 exhaust, just need the power commander 5, air intake and a tune. Only reason to go bigger is if youre going to the track. Theres no reason to leave 5th gear in the streets.

    @NothingToProve… what is the material of the fuel tank on that bike? I went to the showroom to check it, purely based on your review and the bike looks i saw online. To my surprise most of the BMW bikes don’t have metal fuel tanks anymore. Would be glad to have a review on those comparisons. Just to keep the weight low they went that way? But to me it lacked that metal look and got a bit cheaper plastic look… may be it has advantages but couldn’t find much info on that.

    Excellent video, Scott! Why do you prefer the R's motor compared with the XR? I think the knee angle doesn't depend on the fact if a bike has got a lower suspension or not. But it depends on the heigth of the seat.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  Před 3 lety

      Yea, this one had both, the lower seat too. So my legs were a little cramped.
      The R sound is just way better than the XR, the XR sounds d-tuned and the R sounds like it's ready for a fight. It just sounds cooler and it's lighter although not by much but 15kg is 15kg and it just felt like it had more spirit than the XR.

    Is listed price of the f900 for the base model? I noticed the blurb about the Z900 engine being too big for the comparison, but come on now. It's firmly in this market segment. It is technically closer to a 900 than it is to being a full blown literbike. 🙂

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  Před 2 lety

      Yes, base prices. I realize that this is an emotional response, which most guys are emotional about motorcycles, as I am too, so I was willing to leave the rest of your comment alone but you said "technically closer". Since you said technically, let's have a look at the numbers and see what they say 😁👍
      Supernaked - 3 smallest: 998/998/999cc = MT-10/ZH2/S1000R at 160/200/165hp
      Kawasaki Z900: 948cc at 124hp
      Midleweight Naked - 3 Biggest: 895/890/889 = F900R/MT09/890Duke at 105/117/119hp
      Now which is the Z900 closest too? And I'm not even going to mention the smaller 765cc Street Triple or the Suzuki S750, at 121/114hp.
      The Z900 does not belong in either group, the Z800 did but the Z900 now pushes it closer to the supernaked group. Technically by the numbers.
      Now you understand why I made the comment 😁👍
      take care,
      Scott

    • @lovelessissimo
      @lovelessissimo Před 2 lety

      @@NothingToProveoh no emotional response here, brother. Just talking bikes.
      I can see where you're coming from, but I was thinking more along the lines of a "900" class, which would include the mt09, f900, 890, Shiver. I tell ya, there are a lot of grey areas as far as categorizing bikes. Can't really do Light, Middle, Full Size anymore. When we have a Tuono 660 Ptwin making power coming up to the F900 and the Duke 790 and at just 183 kilos, bikes are spanning between niches. But I figured the Z900 would fit with the other 900s, with its extra zip offsetting its extra heft. I guessed the z1000 would be more for the supernakeds.
      You ride way more bikes than I do, though. Hence the brain pick.

    Street triple rs or the f900r? I know both are no beginner bikes but I turned thirty and im going to have it for at least 3 years.. although I think the street triple is the better bike I somehow still really like the bmw too

    • @NothingToProve

      Well, the focus is on two different things. ST focus in on performance, the 900R focus is on comfort/ride-ability. Just depends on what you are looking for in a bike.
      You'll be happy with either bike. Good luck with your decision. :)

      @@NothingToProve It will be my only bike, mainly used for commuting on the freeway for at least 40 mins and maybe one track day a year. I currently have a ninja 400 but I need more power on the freeway. Been looking at the Triumph trident or Honda CB650R but they said its better if I go towards MT09, street triple, duke 890 size bikes. Thanks for the reply, really loved tour videos.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  Před 3 lety +1

      Ok, commuting, freeway and I'm assuming a day or half day rides here and there too. So 99.9% of the time will be spent on the street doing mundane everyday riding. And 0.1% of the time "maybe" a track day.
      What you should do is get the bike that will serve your needs now and not what you think you'll do with it. And if one day those needs/wants expand then you can re-evaluate then...if it ever happens.
      After some time, you won't want to be doing highway on any of these bikes, especially commuting, highway is ok occasionally on a naked but 40 mins every day, that will get old real fast (no wind protection) and soon you'll be finding yourself not taking the bike to work and driving a car (been there done that). So, you will probably end up getting an after-market wind shield for it. So google pictures of those bikes with after market screens on them and go from there.
      Triumph, Honda, BMW, Yamaha, they are all good bikes and anyone of them will make you happy. The Duke, 09 & BMW have crazy amounts of torque everywhere and you'll soon grow addicted to that torque. The Trident & 650R are more relaxed in power and attitude. But the BMW will do both, I was actually fascinated with how that bike will do both and it did whatever I was in the mood to do.
      Hope this helps, take care,
      Scott

      Autos have a lot more "distracting electronic gadgets" that fight for your attention than any given motorcycle. But yet we still drive a car every day and never think twice about getting behind the steering wheel of a 2 ton killing machine, but a motorcycle as in this case is only 211kg and you are worried about the distracting electronics that I'm pointing out as great driver aids. Funny when you look at it in this perspective isn't it :)

      @@NothingToProve Absolutely right! I remember an article - unfortunately I don't remember the source - stating that 20-30% of all accidents are caused by distracted drivers, be it smartphone usage or manipulating the car's media center. As opposed to motorcycles, the probability to get injured is much lesser, what doesn't make it any better.

    Doesn't it look like BMW is more and more making bikes for smaller people? I mean people smaller than the average German and Dutch male. I recently made a test ride on a RnineT Urban G/S. A bike I was really interested in. I am 1,87 meter but I felt so huge sitting on the Urban. Not only leg wise, but my upper body was also very near to the mirrors. It was one big disappointment. I decided that I stick to my R100R that I bought new in 1995. It is not that big, but way more comfortable for me than the Urban G/S. Besides that I realized that that old airhead maybe has little hp's, but a lot more character, and more fun to drive.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  Před 4 lety +1

      Well this bike is a naked and they usually have lower seat heights as compared to ADV bikes. The size for this middleweight naked is spot on when compared to all other middleweight nakeds. So no, this is not made for smaller people, it's just a middleweight naked size bike.

We both now how insane the 1000 is but I’m not sure about the power sacrifice to go the XR touring option. Then again I live in the nanny police state of Victoria, Australia & our speed limit tolerance is becoming a joke! Hence my leaning towards this 900 model.

      Sorry, I thought you were kidding but it seems like you are not.
      The issues here is not the definition of the word parallel twin, the problem here is that you think this is a boxer, right? It is not, it is an in-line 2 cylinder engine, not horizontally opposed twin (boxer).

      "Water-cooled 4-stroke in-line two-cylinder engine..."
