Jack and Gerry acquired minority interests in Georgia Championship Wrestling in 1982, and in 1984, after that, they convinced a majority of shareholders to sell their stakes to Vince McMahon. (This resulted on that Black Saturday episode and the WWF run with TBS from 1984 to 1985). Jack retired in 1985 while Gerry continued to work with McMahon to help make the World Wrestling Federation, now World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), a global business.
Some of their best work was in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and Championship Wrestling from Florida. Their Family rivalry with Dory Funk, Jr. and Terry Funk was legendary.

I had the pleasure of spending part of my youth growing up in the Florida wrestling territories and met Jack and Jerry several times. They were the nicest, most professional men you could ever want to meet.
For me Jack was the it factor in the brothers tag team. I remember when Jack beat Dory for the world title. I think Jack held it for a couple of years. He then walked into the office of I believe Eddie Graham and said he was burned out and didn't want to be the world title holder anymore. He has and always will be my favorite wrestler. Jack was a legitimate tough guy. Right up there with Harley and Haku. Jerry was no slouch either. The greatest tag team bar none ever.
