  • Vine Weevils, or at least their larvae, are a real nuisance in the garden, especially for plants in pots. We show you what to look for, and what you can do about them.

We suffered from vine weevil some years ago and used to go into the garden each night with a torch and collect the adults off the plants and crush them.
Then we heard about nematodes and dosed the garden each year. This really worked and we no longer lose plants from root digestion by the larvae.
It is amazing how a really healthy plant can suddenly decline and when you dig it out there are virtually no roots left! So nematodes get my vote.

That's good to know. The economic implications of using them on the nursery would be considerable, but good to know they work in the home garden

When and how often do you need to dose the nematodes?

@@Darth_Chicken I did it once a year for about 3 years but now only do it every 2 to 3 years and it keeps them at bay.
