  • The 1970s was all about bigger and better. From cars to pant legs it sure delivered on being bigger. The decade was full of events and items that made this one unique time period to experience. Some of the styles have even come back around into mainstream and popularity. There are so many things to discuss when speaking of the 70s but in today's video we will revisit some of the things that made this a great decade. Hopefully this will bring back some good memories and may the 70s live on forever!

    Tang the drink mix brand was formulated in 1957 and first marketed in a powdered formula 1959. Sales were poor until NASA used it in 1962. Following the lunar landings in 1969 the sales really started picking up in the 1970s.

      @jackshittle Před 2 lety

      But NASA didn't really use it. They had a disgusting flavored drink that had vitamin C in it that the astronauts hated but some how later on Tang got marketed as "what the astronauts drink".

      @osiawideman, same here. I loved to go spend the weekends with my grandparents. They had a nicer house than my parent's did. They had color TV and we didn't. I loved waking up to my Granny cooking breakfast, Pawpaw cutting grass, and watching cartoons on Saturday mornings. Then we'd go outside and play. I have an uncle that was only 4 years older than me. My mom was the oldest of her four siblings, so really my uncle was more like my brother instead of my mom's brother. We grew up together. We'd play baseball or basketball, ride bikes, or play hide and go seek. Or if the weather was bad we'd just stay inside and play down in the basement. We always found something to do. Sometimes we'd stay up late and clean the house even though there really wasn't much to clean. I'd polish furniture with pledge furniture polish. I'd clean the bathrooms. It was a gift to my grandparent's. We'd help in the garden sometimes too. Things were different with my parent's though. They didn't get along to well. That made life hard at times. Then my dad past away when I was only 10 years old in 1979. That really turned things upside down. Anyway, at least I can remember some good times back in the 70's. 😉😊

If I would have had mom pack lettuce in a baggie seperate from the sandwich my sandwiches could have been crispy everyday. Imagine eating a brauswager sandwich with slimy lettuce. Yup, the best time to grow up as a child . I believe it was the last decade when kids were real kids , playing out side from morning to dinner. Riding our bikes all over town and hanging at the neighborhood parks and doing different crafts there . They had park and rec teachers then for free and they played with the kids all day to dark and did crafts and lots of games. They don't do that any more. I remember eating breakfast as fast as I could so we could go out side with all our friends. We did not need all those expensive toys f today. All we wanted was our bikes,skate board and a ball.we played freeze tag, hide and seek, kick the can , and kick ball.... we built neihborhood forts in the woods and tire swings...
      .we were fierce ,fast and knew how to have fun. When our parents called us in to eat we would eat as face as we could .we couldn't miss out. We all played together , the entire neighborhood ,boys and girls and we had a blast. Yes growing up as a kid in the 70s was the best and we had the best time of our lives ..

      I was born in that same time frame and like everyone, loved to watch cartoons. So I recently discovered Metv, a nostalgic tv network that just added three hours of classic cartoons from 7AM to 11AM every Saturday morning. They show lots of great old cartoons, and they're not worried about being all politically correct, they just show them. I'm now in my 50's and I watch cartoons every Saturday I can. Give it a try and get back in touch with your inner child, or something like that.

    Born in 1972. Growing up in the 70's and 80's were so much fun and exciting. From music, movies, television, and new inventions constantly being discovered. Remember when we lost our minds over Stove Top Stuffing, Fruit Roll-up's, Magic Shell, Capri Sun, Rubix Cube, Atari 2600 (Pitfall, Kaboom, Pacman, Asteroids, Centipede, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Tron... could go on for days...). We rode our bikes all day with our friends and all friends knew at dusk, it was time to go home and we weren't ever late. We didn't take a knee unless we were praying. We didn't receive trophies for merely showing up. Competition was fun and welcomed challenges without our parents doing everything for us. Concerts were actually watched and no photography was allowed in the venues. We only knew our teachers last names and didn't even know if they were married or had children the majority of the time. We pledged allegiance to the flag every morning in class before we started learning actual lessons like math, science, history, and art. We brought peanut butter and jelly sandwichs for lunch and couldn't find three people in the entire school that were allergic to gluten or peanuts. You may have had one friend here or there that was allergic to seafood. Grocery shopping was a family event (never threw groceries into your parents cart because that was considered bad behavior). Your parents could give you one look letting you know you were in trouble and needed to correct your behavior immediately. You valued your elders and listened to their advice. Word of mouth is how you learned about new music, shows, and events coming up. Going to the record store was a major event and you listened to all types of genre's. You could listen to one radio station and hear Johnny Cash, Donna Summer, Crystal Gayle, Rod Stewart, ZZ top, Whitney Houston, Kenny Rogers, Eurythmics, Culture Club, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Duran Duran, and Blondie without the need of changing stations. Twerking would've got you some serious grounding (our household called it "restriction" and you couldn't use the phone, watch TV, nor visit friends. Just do your chores, complete your homework, and have dinner). Your parents were parents, not your BFF. Grandparents were cherished and you wanted to be just like them. Teachers corrected bad behavior immediately and if they called your parents, you had a serious problem when you returned home. Detention was looked at as a punishment and your entire family would be embarrassed for you. America is and will always be the best country in the world. American exceptionalism was shared and we wore our flag with immense pride. Pronouns were used as a word that can function by itself as a noun phrase and that refers either to the participants in the discourse or to someone or something mentioned elsewhere in the discourse. Feelings and fluidity didn't matter, reality did. Our President (Reagan) referred to our country as the little shining city upon a Hill. Our military was honored and we thanked them for defending our freedom and rights. Kids grew up wanting to be Soliders. Police officers visited our schools and gave us great advice regarding avoiding kidnapping, staying off drugs, and becoming exemplary citizens. Overall, I miss those days and hope the younger generation can learn to appreciate more.
