Clairvoyant is just as good, if you get a second check out their reimagined versions of parable and language, their love performance of those are amazing
You should definitely read the story behind this album and Clairvoyant, it brings a message forward that can really increase your appreciation and enjoyment of the songs and albums as a whole.
New vocalist. New keyboard. New bass.
Vocalist came from a band called Last Chance To Reason. You should check that out.

I personally think Thrive is one of the best written songs, at least out of the ones I've heard. Loving these album reactions bro!
I would vote for "Monochrome (Pensive)" in Clairvoyant album, it just still haunt me...

23:54 Aha, indeed. VOLA stay VOLA, but there is something in The Contortionist that ring the same string like VOLA.
31:02 Yeah, the sound is way more coated in effect. To me, they are now working on some kind of luxurious layered sound cake. It's way more subtle than their previous record.
But somehow, I can find real impact in some of their subtility since they give so much space to complex emotion through unexpected chords, clean soft vocals and well choosen effects. So when it explode, the contrast is greater and it kick way more harder imo.
Really a great album.

These guys are insanely good. Such a unique sound. I for one, much prefer their "new" sound to their older material.
I've not heard harmonies like in the ones in, "The Parable".

bro if you can, go see them live. its actually how i discovered them, they opened for dance gavin dance and...props to whoever planned that lineup cause they immediately caught my attention when they started. i found myself even laughing out loud at different of times of their set, just because they were blowing me away! i wasnt sober but that doesnt mean the experience isnt duplicable sober

You should check out Last Chance to Reason, the new singer for the contortionist was in that band, level 3 or level 2 are amazing albums.
