Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another first time reaction with Barbara Pravi Voilà Eurovision Grand Final 2021. It peaked my interest in the TOP ten, and boy does she deliver a powerful performance. I don't know what I like more, her passion or her vocal delivery; maybe both? See it now!

She's got a point, she's an icon, she's a legend and she's the moment.
This is not her performance from the grand final of the contest in may, this is her first live performance in january, the one performed in may was ten times better.
X100 better of course!
Agree
this is the best entry in decades---it was such a steal she ends up 2nd
She looks very much like Edith Piaf for the style, especially in her song "padam, padam, padam"!
Now, the voice itself sounds more like Mireille Mathieu!
#referencestopmodernes :P
Vrai.
The song does not deal with domestic violence at all. She wrote the lyrics and she simply talks about her and her dream to become « someone ».
I like to think you can interpret lyrics and songs in however they talk to you best. I interpret it the way you said, but when I reflect on the lyrics, I can also definitely see the domestic violence aspect :)
@@Meggimagine Hello I am French and barbara is inspired by the songs of Edith piaf and she talks about domestic violence which is very popular in France weedy. She also talks about her future as a woman
@@celian6764 Cocorico, je suis aussi française ;)
She was a victim of domestic violence and wrote about it in the song Malamour (Badlove).
Voilà (Here it is) is not directly about domestic violence, rather her anxiety and ambivalent feelings coming on the front scene, overcoming her lack of self-confidence. Of course it might be linked to the abuse she went through, but it’s not spelled out in Voilà.
She had been kinda hiding in the back writing songs for others, one interpreted by Valentina won Eurovision Junior.
But finally she took the Eurovision scene and sang herself!
Love love love this song ! And her performance ! So passionate !
It's zero, sorry! No need to make a big deal out of her!
@@jevousemmerdetouslesthunde2391She came in second place, which is the highest france had come since the early 90s. I'd say she did very well.
I saw her in concert last week, first part of Vianney : 3 hours of happiness !!!
i love her voice its so powerful
She was the real winner of this contest, no doubt and EVERYONE knows it.
She gives me gosembumps. every.single.time
Emotional performance, beautiful lyrics. She definitely deserved her second place.
Not deserved!
@@jevousemmerdetouslesthunde2391 deserved more indeed. Would have won any other year

What do you mean?
What are you suggesting?
La grande gagnante de l'Eurovision ❤️
Moué! lol Merci la Covid surtout! 😆😁
Look Barbara pravi the final it’s Beautiful 😍
Loved this wanted it to win lovely singer, great voice/song. I’m going bananas
It’s catching….
She is amazing.spectacular actually
She is nothing spectacular at all!

@@michelasdisappointmentanda2304 lol I'm a woman and I'm not a lesbian!
I Love how her interpretation / lyrics are half sad half not within
each word.
The song subtitles are totally wrong, lol (i'm a French speaker)
nice reaction, thanks. I like your sensibility.
Hi Dereck, Barbara Pravi also wrote "Bim Bam, Toi" for Carla, which performed well in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2 years ago, and "J'imagine" for Valentina, who won that same Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year! You should check both :)
Very interesting reading of Voilà from you Dereck. This song initially was written as an introduction of Pravi into music. Her career is very short and before this song, she was also a songwriter for others, including 2 songs of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This is a statement from Pravi. It's her moment with her everything, all she is and she has. You have been caught like many Europeans by the raw nature of this song, how much a True person she is in front of us. She is kinda gets nakes metaphorically to us, and physically with this bustier she is wearing. The song is beautiful as it is and staging, outfit and camerawork is an added value into her performance. In any other year, this song would have won but she finished 2nd is the most competitive Eurovision in history.
¡Eres la bomba, Dereck!
The best song out there, she still is and forever will be my winner
She actually reminds me a lot of a French singer called Edith Piaf
She is a beautiful singer, she came second. It's very hard for any act from the BIG 5 to do well but 2 of them came first and second.
Please, react to the most incredible french song of these last years : Mr/ Mme by Loic Nottet (with the subtitles because the lyrics are very powerful and emotional).
Omg yes my favourite song of any Eurovision artist I listen to it so many times
@@niklasb3648 Mr/Mme is not eurovision content :0 but this is a really incredible Belgian song yes ♡
@@penelopetey I mean yes the song wasn’t but as a Eurofan I follow so many artists after their ESC journey and that’s what I meant 😂
Loïc is one of my favourite artists that competed in Eurovision 🥰
I write the same comment in another video. If we are a lot, I hope Derek does it ;-)
The problem of many french song, is that 90% of the beauty is in the lyrics... And Mr / Mme is one of them, if you can't understand the lyrics, you loose the most important (In my opinion)
😞
Emotional, true.
Not emotional at all!
If you want to hear more from her, she released a new song some weeks ago called "le jour se lève". A very sweet song too! 😊
You could listen to yseult (corps is really good) and Kimberose also is a french band (I think) who sing in English. They are really good.
The Great Madame Pravi
don't overdo it anyway!
Not spectacular at all!
Hi Derek,
Thanks for sharing these French songs.
If you like Jean-Jacques Goldman, you should definitely listen to "Là-Bas". The 1987 version of this song is great, of course. But the "live" version from his "En Passant" Tour is maybe the greatest ever.
Believe she's very talented. Sweet and complex person --> so modern french.
thank you for the react it is not final eurovision ( must emotionnal ) but thannk you dereck :)
😔
The lyrics 😭😭😭
Lyrics are like a poem
Dereck You must see the Stand-In Rehearsel by the girl Julia Adriana They use it for the ajustment for camera’s en lightning And techincal things She have a warm and softer voice and She is a dutch girl
Magnifique chanson, bouleversant…
Not at all upsetting!

I Likes Patricia Kaas at the Eurovision...S'il fallait le faire..that was beautiful and .....powerful
Hello Derek, please check out the cover version of Emma Kok! it is amazing!
She sounds a bit like Edith Piaf, a french singer. One of her greatest song was "Non, je ne regrette rien" . I like your reactions very much. It makes so much fun to watch your videos. Regards from Germany!
Aren't l'Hymne à l'amour or la vie en rose more famous outside of France? Just curious.
@@awkad I'm sorry, I don't know how popular she was outside France or even overseas. Edith Piaf died in 1963, but I still like her songs .
It came 2nd at the Eurovision song contest.
Dereck can you please do some more Karen Carpenter? Keep up the great work. Really enjoy your channel.
EMMA KOK 👍

- Soprano "Hiro Nakamura".
- Emmanuel Moire "Ça me fait du bien".
- Christophe Mae "Parcequ'on ne sais jamais."
- Mika "Relax take it easy".

Huummmm... Dereck , I'm sorry to tell you that you misunderstood the lyrics this time... She speaks about the fact that she only find sense to her life by being loved, looked at, and listened as an artist. She needs to tell stories to people and to be loved because she hardly manages to love herself. Thanks a lot to you anyway Dereck for all your videos!

Please react to Malta, Destiny - Je Me Casse, she was the favourite to win the contest before rehearsals :)
Its not the reaction of the Final. Too bad :(
Not viewable in my country
@@DereckReacts Yeah, too bad :( But this performance is the one that put her right under the spotlight and first for many bookmakers, so it's really ok. The grand final is the same just bursting 10x more raw emotion... Jaw droping.
react to Azerbaijan too pls
Sorry but those auto subtitles (for the song) are triggering me as a french person. They are soooo wrong xDDDDD
So for anyone wondering, you find a more accurante translation of the song please find below ("voilà" is difficult to translate as you have not this word in english. It could mean "there it is", here", "that's it", "indeed" etc etc)
Listen to me
Me, the wannabe singer
Talk about me
To your loves, to your friends
Tell them about this girl with black eyes and her crazy dream
Me, what I want is to write stories that reach you
That’s all
Here, here, here, here I am, Here I am
even if stripped naked I am afraid, yes
Here I am in the noise and in the silence
Look at me, or at least what’s left
Look at me, before I hate myself
What to tell you, that another’s lips won’t tell you
It’s not much but all that I have I drop it there, that’s it
Here, here, here, here is who I am, Here I am
even if stripped bare it’s over
It’s my mouth, it’s my cry, here I am too bad
Here, here, here, here
I am my dream, my desire, like I’m dying, like I laugh at it
Here I am in the noise and in the silence
Don’t go, I’m begging you stay a long time It may not save me, no
But to do without you I don’t know how
Love me as we love a friend who goes away forever
I want us to love me because I don’t know how to like my outlines
Here, there, here, here I am, Here I am
even if exposed it is finished
Here I am in the noise and in the fury too
Look at me, finally, and my eyes and my hands
All that I have is here, it’s my mouth, it’s my cry
Here I am, here I am, here I am
Here we are, here we are, here we are
Here
Please Dereck : Trust (antisocial)
If you are moved by this (which is understandable) wait until you hear Edit Piaf !!! "Padam" or "L' accordéoniste" or anything else such as "Non je ne regrette rien". Just typing these I have goosebumps!
Not dancy and not his tastes! Old fashioned singer. Concept of his channel : 80's-90's and now. Read his presentation and respect his channel, please!
Russia and malta. Voilà !
This is similar to "Je Suis Malade" by Laura Fabian.
I guess you mean "by Serge Lama"!
@@Volanne No, I mean the live version Lara Fabian. He wrote it, and the songs are similar in subject matter, but Lara's is one of the best live performances I've ever seen.I think this performer is "getting inspiration" from that song and performance.
Wtf is going on with the subtitles lmao
not sexually deviant enough to win.
Huh? It got 2nd place.
This isn’t even her best performance
the english lyrics are not that at all lol
Tik Tok excuses moi
I don't like very much. No me gusta mucho. Je n'aime pas beaucoup.
it's ZERO as Julie Masse sang! lol 😁😅
Mouais... ( _Eng:_ This is Piaf in a younger version. But fortunately Dereck knows that musically France has changed since the 50s.)
Mon Dieu!
