It's actually sick how responsive Caraxes is to Daemon, it's like they're a singular mind. Both when Daemon took Dragonstone and in this scene Caraxes appears exactly when Daemon wants him to without even speaking a word. We've never even heard him say Dracarys because (presumably) it's like he doesn't even need to.
@@wc6046 I think that was a part of it but I also remember there was a part about the matching of the personality of the rider and the dragon, which is another reason Caraxes and Daemon are bonded so well as they are both chaotic and unpredictable. Like for example Aemond is quite strong willed as well, but he was never able to bond with Vhagar the way Daemon and Caraxes are.
Hint why Caraxes doesn’t give a F*** about Vhagar or any dragon bigger than him. He’s 3rd or 4th biggest in House of the dragon
Dragon and the rider are bonded, like in Avatar. It is almost impossible to give vocal command or "light" touch to the dragon to command in riding situation (not like horse)
He was constantly reading about old Valyria & Dragonlords whilst in Pentos, i Reckon he's learnt some ancient Valyrian techniques & Secrets which No current Dragonriders know about
@@MrJohnybf Then why do they speak to them in high valyrian? Or say dracarys to breath fire? Also when Aemond was riding Vhagar he could be seen pulling the ropes for him to move certain directions. They don't have to listen to them tho.
Caraxes responding to Daemon's cruelty and anger and Syrax responding to Rhaenyra's pain and fear is just truly stunning.
Riders with strong connections feel the emotions and feelings of their dragons, and vice versa. Danny clearly didn't have as strong of a bond, as she didn't feel the pain or anything else that the dragons did.

The contrast between Caraxes and Daemon connection and the other Dragonriders is amazing. Caraxes is 100% loyal to Daemon.

She wanted to burn Old Town to the ground and from I see going in the show she should have.

Man, I love Caraxes
Caraxes is just so cool. His design, his color, how he moves kinda like a wolf stalking prey, and how talkative he is lol. It makes sense that the best dragon would belong to the coolest Targaryen and the two would have by far the strongest bond.
Rhaenyra and Syrax have a far stronger bond than Daemon and Caraxes, though. Syrax was bonded to her *since birth* and Rhaenyra was her only rider. They basically grew up together and were known to be very close, hence the sort of psychic connection that Syrax seems to have with Rhaenyra during the latter’s miscarriage in this scene. Caraxes is an older dragon. His first rider was Aemon, _then_ Daemon after his uncle was slain in battle. But yeah, Caraxes is pretty cool and fearsome. Definitely a battle-hardened one. Can’t wait for him to play his part in the Dance.
I doubt that the bond since birth thing makes that huge of a difference. Arrax was bonded to Luke since birth but needed constant verbal direction and even then still disobeyed him. I think it's more about matching personality and time and work bonding. For instance not once have we seen Daemon give Caraxes a command but he comes exactly when Daemon wants him to and in combat reacts as if he was being Warged by his rider and also cries out in pain when Daemon is hit by an arrow. I'm sure Rhaenyra and Syrax have a strong bond too but there is not much evidence to say its as strong let alone stronger.

@@lyd7136 The thing is though Syrax was treated more like a pet by Rhaenyra, Syrax has hardly seen battle, hardly killed anything and is a pretty docile dragon. Caraxes is battle hardened, fierce and highly skilled and nothing bonds two together like battling together and surviving together.
JT Thomas Must be the emotional factor when handling dragons. Aemond and Luke both failed where Rhaenyra and Daemon succeeded with keeping their emotions from making their dragons act out.
Luke and Arrax were bonded since birth like Rhaenyra and Syrax, but Arrax disobeyed Luke.
Aemond isn’t Vhagar’s first rider, like Daemon with Caraxes, and Vhagar still disobeyed him.
Caraxes is so fierce yet so cute with his squeaky sound and that mini slide when he’s going down. 😅

Vermitthor - Jahaerys, Caraxes-Daemon, Syrax-Rhaenyra, Sunfyre-Aegon II, Balerion the dread- Aegon the conquerer. These are some best bonding dragons with their riders.

I really hope they go more in depth about the bond between Dragon and Rider in season 2. Daemon and Caraxes are literally the same conscious. By far the best duo since Balerion and Aegon themselves.
Blasphemy Visenya deserves a mention she's a better warrior than Aegon, lived longer and fought in more wars than he did.
The bond between aegon II and sunfyre is very strong as well

Others say “oh cute he slipped” however I can’t help but think caraxes was so eager to eat them but he had to show restraint before he got the green light from his companion.

I know its not as bad ass as Daemon and Caraxes moment here but Syrax roaring in pain along with Rhaenyra was beautiful. This telepathic/empathy connection between specific Targaryens and their riders is really interesting. Aemond sees it as a tool for power and does not have a dragonriders spirit. Laena's connection was much stronger with Vaegar. I like that they are displaying that kind of specific connections. Feels more realistic to real animals. The more time and devotion you give them - the stronger the connection is.
In my opinion laena and visenya had the strongest bonds with vhagar with laena coming second. Aemond never really cared about actual bonding he just wanted it for power and treated vhagar as a weapon so his bond wasn’t that strong at compared to daemon, rhaenys, rhaeynera, hell even aegon to a degree.
@@Mcherri that is 100% bs. Aemond used Vhagar pretty much the same way as Visenya used her. Visenya was even more ruthless and evil than Aemond and burned even more people than him. She was always eager to use Vhagar as a weapon even more than Aemond. How is his bond with Vhagar weaker? Because he is not in your prefered team?
He overcame her tests and through his bravery Vhagar saw him as worthy of her, if his "bond" was weak he wouldn't have survived.

I would say Lucerys has more control than Aemond. Arrax got scared and defended himself then he started listening to Lucerys again. Aemond never regained control of Vhagar

Idk where this bullshit came from about Aemond never having control over Vhagar. Daemon obviously has a stronger bond with his dragon from over 20 years of experience, whereas Aemond is still a teenager and only has 8 years experience. Vhagar freaked out because it had fire spat into its face. I’m pretty sure Caraxes would also go for the kill if that happened to it

Really like the fact that Daemon took care of raising Rhaenyra's son like his own with detail. he knew this is a need for elder son to be just, decisive and inhesitaion.
I know Daemon is threatening them, but part of me does like that Daemon was willing to make sure they could keep whatever vows they made and die with honor if they didn’t agree.
This is what I think jace would’ve been a great king if he is learning the ruthlessness from daemon which looks like he is but he is also kind and understanding.
It’s also interesting how Daemon is fully behind Jace and Luke.

daemon is someone that understands a balance of ruthlessness and mercy. the man didnt have to commit mass slaughter in the riverlands like aemond and daeron later on. all he needed to do was talk, show caraxes and they throw down the banners. its the level of cunning even aegon i, queen visenya and queen rhaenys employed in the conquest.
Its obvious that if they refuse to acknowledge Rhaenyra, Daemon would execute them with his sword right there. But if they betrayed later, Caraxes will burn them alive. Great intimidation tactic.

@@franciscotrejos8756 They are reptiles. Many crocodilians, snakes, lizards, and even dinosaurs never stop growing. It's sad though because when they get really old they do tend to look like Vhagar. They get so big they can barely move at least in captivity. It looks almost painful for them when they do.

@@ragnarlothbrok7973 He was only timid when bonded with Jaehaerys. His bonding made him more peaceful. After Jaehaerys' death, Vermithor has returned to his natural state. He's now known as the bronze fury.
