I had a similar experience. I had to spend a week in hospital. I'm still quite young, I was 28 at the time surrounded by mostly old people. I'm also average looking so I was making some nice conversation with some of the female nurses, who pretty much were all beautiful. Since they likely were not used to younger people on the ward my presence was likely a welcome change. So for 2 days I was enjoying the attention.
On day 3 this Greek God Adonis looking guy who could be a supermodel was admitted to the bed opposite mine. Needless to say I didn't get any more attention for the rest of my hospital stay.

I've read the book (Z for Zachariah) as a kid. And Caleb was not in the story. John was pretty much the same and just as awkward if not more. John made multiple unwanted sexual advances on the MC making things extremely awkward between the two (even though there was growing attraction between the two, John escalated prematurely though). Margo eventually takes John's radiation suit and abandons him at her farm as she seeks refuge elsewhere.
It's better than wait till he enslave her in the house for sex.

1. Tractors run on diesel. 2. Gas without added ethanol does not run bad too quickly - especially if in a container that is well sealed. 3. With ethanol the problem is water that ethanol attracts - you can just let old gas separate into layers and scoop from top the good stuff.

Tbh I don't think John killed Caleb.
Many reasons why.
1. The water wheel has NO damage in the last scene, and a drop that high can easily break some wood and yeah.
2. How is he supposed to get the suit back?
3. Pretty sure he would be visible since at the beginning of the movie, we can see John bathing in that water.
So this is what I guess happened.
John asked Caleb to leave, and Caleb KNEW John liked her from the beginning, and after John saved him twice knew he was a good man. I also think that Caleb might have killed some people in the mine, as he did not tell them how he got out of there.
Lastly, I feel like John did not feel guilty at the end but instead felt some remorse that he knew she wanted Caleb to stay but it was "better this way"
Anyway, Ima stays with this fact so I can sleep at night, after all innocent until proven guilty.

I see no reason for your hostile attitude to my statement, saying "You not fooling anyone" as if I am trying to fool anyone with my statement.
This is an ambiguous ending because only John is left to tell the story, so it is up to the viewer to decide if John killed Caleb or not. Certainly it is highly probable that Caleb died at the waterfall, but it is also possible that John saved him again but threatened him to leave immediately. Caleb, being religious, could be a good man and is not willing to combat John to be with Ann. Caleb also knows John's feelings to her and John was "there first". But the important thing is how Ann interprets it. No matter what, she knows John had something to do with it. If she believes that Caleb left immediately, she can assume that John threatened him to leave. If she believes John killed Caleb, then she would just have to accept it because: 1. Ann and John were overall getting along fine before Caleb. 2. John was only dangerous because of the threat of being replaced. So once the threat is gone, John will have no reason to be dangerous. 3. Ann will probably not risk losing an engineer, and now possibly the only live human left besides her.
Here’s what really happened:
“Caleb” never really existed, they were both hallucinating that Chris Pine was there because of all the radiation poisoning.
The sequel will be them hallucinating Leonardo DiCaprio into existence and the dog will grow wings and turn into the dog from The Never Ending Story.

Well, those errors were probably the result of a new character being inserted on a completed story, but i like to think he was just pretending to be whatever the girl wanted in order to smash, but realized he was getting into trouble and got away before pushing John too far

Please explain the movie “the others” it’s the best thriller I’ve watched
Honestly this channel is a blessing. All these movies I’d heard of, knew were B grade, and not worth the hours spent watching, I can get 1.5X speed recaps of, in 10 minutes. Beautiful.

i remember reading the book in school decades ago. There was no Caleb if i remember, just Loomis who was much more morally dark than this version (attempting rpe, actually killing a colleague to escape originally, etc). The bringing in a 3rd character is an interesting spin on it, whether it's a pro or con isn't mine to say.

It wouldn't really feel as personal to the director and many others if people needed endings that were pandered towards what THEY want.
@@solowecr6840 I guess if you are making a vanity project or personal pet project, not catering to you audience’s needs would be acceptable but when creating and telling stories that you want others to share in (and your financiers to profit from), practicing basic elements of good storytelling and satisfying endings should always be considered important.
Its based on a book called Z for Zachariah and is a bit different than what happens in the movie.

Sounds like a dream to me. Me stuck on a farm with Margot Robbie and no competition. Unlike John I would have told her I was interested and gone for it. Of course Chris Pine would have probably still shown up, but you know, that would be okay. I'd have a guy to hang out with, and we can alternate nights banging Margot Robbie, or we could tag team her. I can see only an upside to being in John's place.
I find myself watching over 10 movies in one night. Movies recapped but it still felt like watching a whole movie
I remember reading the short story as a kid, it was one of my favourite post-apocalyptic scifis at the time. They did change it quite a bit though, especially the ending which had Ann taking John's hazmat suit and cart and leaving to find a another place for herself to live in, leaving the valley to John.

Read the book in secondary school. Formed clear pictures in my head of that post apolclyptic landscape the story was set in. Never imagined it being made into a film. I'm fascinated to see how it turned out! Will find time to watch it soon.

John was letting her know that it was okay for her to do something that she may be holding back from based on their previous connection, not everything is about controlling someones actions and just because you have your own conscious doesnt mean we dont influence those around us or should disregard others feelings...especially when its the end of the world and there is little humanity left...i know its impossible to grasp but try for a second to see it from his position because she is not the only human involved.
Honestly though, I feel literally any guy would go off the deep end eventually if there's 1 woman left on earth, and she starts banging another dude that just appeared out of nowhere one day, lmao. I mean, with how little John has to lose in this situation, I would honestly be surprised if something like this didn't eventually happen.
A lot of people commenting act like this is some completely unforeseen reaction on John’s part--reserved only for the most degenerate, misogynistic incels originating from the most far flung corners of the internet, but that's just simply not true. There are literally no other fish in the sea. Desperation would be the norm here for most people, not the exception.
It honestly pisses me off how some guys dismiss how difficult it would be to take the moral high ground in John's situation. Caleb's implied death is inexcusably on John. There is no excuse for what he did. However, I think it's arrogant for someone to assume that they’d get through John's situation and be completely, 100% supportive of Caleb and Ann's relationship like a good friend should be.

Imagine living with two people with kids while having none of your own--and knowing that you'll never have any of your own--while in the back of your mind knowing that if Caleb never appeared, that could have been you. See. That's assuming that she would've had children with John, and not just leave at some point in search of other survivors. The stupid thing about this is the premise of lust and jealousy wedging itself between an otherwise good situation. If these three are the only survivors for miles, then they could have had a couple generations of kids, without the need for biological incest, and then with a large enough village, some members could create a search party for other survivors to expand their gene pool. Instead, they let petty jealousy and selfishness get in the way. That lack of maturity is what'll eventually lead to their demise. The LDS church are Christians, and they've greatly increased their own population with the "multiple wives strategy." Some cultures around the world also share wives, i.e. "multiple husbands" strategy. These people are just too self-righteous and pious to see the greater good for the group instead of the individual. Are you trying to save your people and survive or are you trying to get your way?

People obsessed with Margot Robbie in the comments and as to why John didn't tap her clearly didn't understand the movie. John was attracted to her in every way, but he was guilt ridden because he killed her brother. Any sane man dealing with what he was dealing with wouldn't have dared to touch her until she knew the truth. I also don't think Loomis killed Caleb.
