    What a generous man you are. There’s so much information in this and your other videos. I’m blown away every time I come to your channel. Thanks so much, I’m going to tackle this on my own next year and I’m pretty much using your info exclusively. I’ll owe you!

    These so-called rooms look so much better with a pitched roof - at greater cost of course.

    Is the celling horizontal or sloping to match the pitch of the roof?

    Great videos guys. So impressed with your attention to details and how tidy your site always is. Couple of questions please. I’m planning a 4x2.4 garden room with a timber base frame rather than concrete. Is C16 timber ok or do I need to go for C24 for the base and for the stood work and roof? Also, for the lintel, what do you suggest I use? I have noticed you tend to use 2 125x47 joists paired together, when others use steel. Is steel really necessary? The space I am designing is a room with a door and next to it a sheltered area for a bench and table, but this would be open at the front, covered by the roof that is one roof all the way across (not sure if I’m explaining it properly sorry). Thanks 👍

      @creategardenrooms  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Andrew. C16 and C24 are pretty similar however C24 is a bit stronger and has less defects. For the lintel we use 2 8x2's put together. Plenty strong enough, never really any need for steel unless it's a really big span like 4m doors. Cheers, James

    Love the garden rooms you guys make. Can you let me know where you get your exterior lights from with the wireless controller? That's exactly what I need for my shed. Thanks

    Just wondering why the roof joists go the long way has a retired carpenter we always took the shortest route for strength

    • @creategardenrooms
      @creategardenrooms  Před 6 měsíci

      Makes the overhang stronger on the front 👍 Also, this build had a partitioning wall so that added the strength in the centre of the room which allowed us to use 5x2’s. If it were the whole length we would of probably opted for 6x2’s or gone across the room as you have mentioned. 👍

    Superb video - thanks. How did you finish the right side? Nearby fence. You shown at some point breathable membrane and battens, but how did you finish it? I am facing similar problems, and thinking of cladding first and then lifting up the wall.

    Do you vapour barrier over the actis insulation, and then just push internal downlights up against the vapour barrier into the insulation ?

  • @EvvoBeetle
    @EvvoBeetle Před rokem +2

    great video!!! just one question, you didn't cover how to attach the cladding to the side that you can't fit down near the fence. Is there a trick to fixing it on with no space? Also... when it comes to planning, how close to you make the slab from the party fence and how far in do begin the timber build?

    • @creategardenrooms
      @creategardenrooms  Před rokem +1

      Hi, we just fixed form the outside with the normal 10mm hex screws as normal. We could actually fit down there so it wasn't an issue. If you can't fit down the side you have to finish the wall before standing it up 👍

    Hi. I'm just making my way through your videos for the third time. I'm loving them. I just have to pluck up the courage to start.
    Could you please give me some information on the side door of this build? Is it a high security door and are these doors freely available or through specialist suppliers?
    Thank you very much.

      @creategardenrooms  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hi, thanks for watching!! Yes would will need to find a supplier for the doors. We use BSW doors as our supplier and we get on very well with them. Might be worth putting a call in!

    I have been looking at framing windows/doors and the usage of Jack & King studs. Is there a reason those as well as the headers look to be missing from the doors/windows? Is that a different spec where you are?

      It only has to be a slight fall and the water will run off. 70mm Will do. This can also be found explained in the roof section of the video 👍
