When I was 10 years old, one of my mom's professors had a 4 person Cessna He took me up once, and while we were out over Lake Michigan, he turned the yoke over to me, and allowed me to fly it around southeastern Wisconsin for about 15 minutes. That was almost 40 years ago, and I still remember it like it happened yesterday.

Flying in a small aircraft is like nothing else. The time I flew in my wife’s uncles little Cessna, I didn’t realize that you have to actually aim down at the ground and fly down to the landing strip, unlike commercial jets that mostly just bleed off speed and sink. I almost soiled my undies seeing the ground filling the windscreen.

My grandfather got banned from our rural airstrip for a time back in the 60's. he flew the original piper cub from the 50's.He came in for a landing and exactly matched his airspeed to the prevailing wind, and hovered in front of the tower. He did this for a full 30 seconds. He touched down and the guy came running out and threatened to call the Feds on him. Cubs are the best plane ever built by man.
@@flymoore the event happened in 1965, the cub was manufactured in 1947, The person in the tower was the subject of a book of the area and told the story about my Grandfather. That was pretty damn awesome. Cleetus kills it with everything he does. That dude is one hell of a wheel/stick man. Idk if the plane made the Freedom Factory look small or if the Freedom Factory made the plane look huge. When he made a lap around the track, it made the Cub look massive even though I know it's not a big plane by any means.
Wish him many years of safe flying! Been flying cubs since I was 12 years old and looks like he has received some good training but don’t get over confident because it will bite you back just saying!

The whole time Cleet was practicing the short landing I was thinking to myself, “if this man landed on a tiny sand bar then he’ll easily be able to land in the freedom factory.” And then he does it first try easily lmao.
Imagine using the plane as the pace vehicle for the next race at the freedom factory, following behind it and then once it takes off of the front straight the race begins

As a pilot coming a crossed an obstacle don’t nose it over to loose altitude if you have the space try slipping the plane to loose the altitude without increasing speed. As for the line, best I got is keep practicing using your peripheral vision. In the cub you can fly with the door open gives more view like patrol doors.

Ya I’m Afraid Cleeter is gonna End Up Like Paul Walker aka Brian O’Conner in Fast & Furious and End up KILLED in an Accident in something !!
Seems Like Getting Married & having a Son Born hasn’t WISED HIM UP AT ALL !!!
That STUNT in the Porsche doing
180 mph when he was bringing the car home was a REAL IDIOT MOVE !!
Wonder what MATTIE & Cleeter’s Family thought of that Chite 💩 !!
More of these videos please! Short field/soft field is quite challenging. Tail wheel is definitely a must. Killer job! 🍻👍
when spot landing you just need to feel the airplane and know when its going to hit. Sometimes wind will mess you up though. You'll get it to where you can spot land within 5feet everytime. keep at it!! looking good!
When I was 10 years old, one of my mom's professors had a 4 person Cessna
He took me up once, and while we were out over Lake Michigan, he turned the yoke over to me, and allowed me to fly it around southeastern Wisconsin for about 15 minutes.
That was almost 40 years ago, and I still remember it like it happened yesterday.
When I was in grade 3 my father let me take control of the DeHavilland Beaver he was flying at the time. I also still remember like it was yesterday and it was 25+ years ago
My grandpa did the same thing when I was a kid over lake Michigan in his Cessna, was absolutely amazing memory
@@jeffbricker2710 it's pretty amazing to flyover Farm country. All the different colored rectangles of varying sizes...oddly soothing
Kenosha county airport, BTW
Flying in a small aircraft is like nothing else. The time I flew in my wife’s uncles little Cessna, I didn’t realize that you have to actually aim down at the ground and fly down to the landing strip, unlike commercial jets that mostly just bleed off speed and sink. I almost soiled my undies seeing the ground filling the windscreen.
@@dochaze1 point down, pull up lol
Being in a small prop plane, is a lot like a motorcycle, or being an MGA Porsche 356 etc.
Definitely a false sense of security, but so worth it. So freeing
Imagine being on this crew never knowing what kinda shenanigans you’re gonna do for the day? Hell yeah brother!!
This HAS to be a Freedom 500 pre-race show. Don't argue with me on this.
You are SO much fun to watch!! I think the combination of ALL types of motor sports AND your choice of crew members coupled with your obvious talent is what makes you a winner.
That would have been an awesome sight! But at least you have the story.
Pioneer in aviation if you ask me.
Bullshit story anyway. Original cubs were from the 30s and no tower is gonna bitch about how you land as long as it is safe
@@flymoore r/nothingeverhappensever
@@flymoore the event happened in 1965, the cub was manufactured in 1947, The person in the tower was the subject of a book of the area and told the story about my Grandfather. He didnt tell me, my dad did. Grandfather wanted the super Cub but it was expensive for him , so he bought a used surplus J-3. Anyway, enjoy the weekend.
All those people moving in the new neighborhood next to the track didn't know they were moving in next to an airport lmao😂
Time to install a windsock at the Freedom Factory!!!
Check out 14:10 and 15:25 .. new building on the property. At the end of the video, they were on that pad. Hangar for the chopper and Cub.
Really felt the friendship that cleet and james have in this vid. Great flying!!
Oh yeah!
What a great little plane. She really climbs out fast. The set up is so important for short landings and seems like you have that down. Throttle control and the seat of the pants instincts are your best friend once you are in ground effect and flared. Nice job Cleetus. Keep on flying.
When you started doing a burnout I could feel the Freedom coursing through my veins. Aviation is so amazing and now that we have you hooked I can't wait to see the crazy stuff y'all pull off...
Gregg
What a legend. Cleetus is living out the dreams of every nucklehead and hooligan young or old.
And knuckleheads
Sum nukle heds cant spel hoo cares
LOL, I knew that glide angle was gonna be wild, it felt like the one thing nobody was addressing. I thought he'd have plenty of space, but that definitely makes it hard to come in slow folks, it wants to gain speed as you come down.
Yeah and looking back at the footage I was extra high over the fence which made it worse but better safe than sorry. Still 2/2 landings no go arounds.
@@CleetusM I didn't expect to like the airplane content as much as I do. Keep it up and I love it.
@@CleetusM gonna have to start calling that the giraffe angle...great landings, awesome vid, stay safe!
@@CleetusM Hey…The handle your pulling just over your left shoulder….Is that the flaps control? This content is so cool. By the way…My Son n law found a drag strip In Tennessee for sale about an hour from Bristol. It’s on like 30 some acres I think. Needs some love but it looks like a heck of an opportunity.
@@monroefive-o40 yep. that's flaps
If only you could send this video to yourself years ago when you first started up the channel. What a journey you are bringing us all through.
Hell yeah brother!
14:30 mark should be a new shirt! Having the Freedom factory in view... with the carbon cub flying above!! That would be a sick shirt!
Man, that plane takes off even crazier than it can land.
This episode had a smile on my face the whole time. So awesome to see the crew coming together to support Cleeter in all his adventures!!!!
Same here! LOL
Plain irresponsibility and stupidity.
You know you have a child now, right?
Airplanes aren’t toys. This was a dumb idea and even dumber content.
My 1st plane ride... was a cessna... with uncle Crop duster. We flew under powerlines... the crowsnest hiway bridge at Monarch Alberta... and a Wingover .. what a ride . Thanks Uncle Terry Ronan
It'd be cool to see Cleetus fly with a wild crop duster. I've had our local guys smoke my spray rig probably 20 feet from the cab. And I've watched Red duck power lines over a live road and have corn tassels in his landing gear when he dropped in to reload. That's just his normal day for him. The dude is an incredible pilot.
The whole time Cleet was practicing the short landing I was thinking to myself, “if this man landed on a tiny sand bar then he’ll easily be able to land in the freedom factory.” And then he does it first try easily lmao.
The lap around the track was extremely epic.
Yeah that was sick. I hope they got some good pics too cuz I would totally buy one and proudly hang it
I'm so impressed with your skills as a pilot . Thank you for posting all the great videos on your channel.
There was one moment during the practice I was worried you were going to have a prop-strike, but man...MAN those STO/L planes are insanely good.
Imagine using the plane as the pace vehicle for the next race at the freedom factory, following behind it and then once it takes off of the front straight the race begins
he cant do that if hes also racing!
@@jay_wright it’s possible if the crown Vic had an open sunroof
@@soaringfreedomgiraffe393 well i cant disagree with the logic, lol
Been watching the channel for well over 4 years, and I can confidently say this is by far the best channel and crew i've ever watched. These guys deserve everything and more. Never had a dull time watching the vids, great work Cleeter and crew! Keep the bangers comin!
I know what you mean. I don't remember how long I've been watching but Leroy was still just doing burnouts and silly stuff. Then he got the supercharger, then the turbo and holy crap since then. The thing is is he is such a great guy, treats his people really well, includes them in everything, has a crazy streak a mile wide, is obviously brilliant, I mean his pilots, multi engine and rotor-craft in 3 years really? It helps when you have the time and money, but it is still a pretty amazing feat, especially with everything else going on.
So cool to see new folks experience the fun of aviation. Love it!
dude the carbon cub vids are the best. what a dream come true to pilot that beast!
dude, you are literally an inspiration. As a fellow entrepreneur, I cant imagine the feeling of flying a plane into the kingdom you have created. All while having fun and inspiring people, keep it up brother. You are awesome
Guy has worked his a$$ off to get to this point! Now he is living his best life, providing for his family and giving his friends a solid life.
Doing all this and still staying humble. He never says I....it's always we. Cheers to you Cleetus!!!!!
Perfectly said! 🛩
I agree, I would risk my life to save Cleetus... He has a good soul!

The cub is a perfect pilot car. The take off from the straight as a race start would be epic!
Great to see yas getting paid to have so much fun.. Have to be excited to go to work everyday. Awesome!
Cleet - everyone stand back nice and clear
George - nah nah I'm standing right here I gotta get this shot 😅
THANK YOH GEORGE FOR THE DEDICATION
Brother! You have done so much with yourself these last few years, and I couldn't be any prouder! Just like you were one of my kids! Turning 50 this year, and a pretty big milestone for me to be here half a century. Been a rocky ride but I'm hoping to have the opportunity to meet you at least once before this ride is over. Keep reaching for the moon!
You need to have a Freedom Factory Fly-in... land and stage in the overflow parking grass lot.
Add 20-30 lbs of lead shot bean bag in the tail as ballast for the hard on the brake short stops.
Not gonna lie, I used to skip every single ad in a CZcams video but I love to watch the ag1 ad you do to see how your gonna mix it up😂😂😂
Long time subscriber, don't think I've missed an episode in years. Just be careful. Please don't get any crazier. Rip, Maddie and the rest of all your family and friends can't afford to lose you. You mean too much to everyone's life you've touched, even me and I'm just a viewer. Hopefully I'll be able to meet you one day and hopefully we'll see Mullet in the 6.3 range soon. As always, DO IT FOR DALE
ahh yeah!! Living my florida aviation and car dreams!!! Piper Cub is just enough aircraft. My grandpa told stories of landing on golf courses and also flying b17's in the war. but he worked for piper. i grew up 3rd generation pilot. solo'd at ZephyrHills, flew out of Lakeland Linder. Mowed the grass for sun'n fun in 1999. met JFK jr. and prolly hijackers at flight safety. Man.. its amazing to see others living out the same sort of stuff. Long live the Pipers. Keep the Blue side Up!! btw, contact Kelse, the 747 pilot, and get him in a race car!!!
The hype and support from the guys is so genuine. So damn cool!
I’m loving the aviation content, thoroughly entertaining as usual
Great landing. That was as you said a steep approach in to the track.
That would be a great way to start an evening of racing. Cleetus landing the plane with a microphone so he can talk to the stands. Landing, then doing a lap before jumping out and starting the show. Then to end the night, taking off in the plane with fire works somewhere around the stadium! Just an idea!
What i admire most is his amazing support system. Good friends 💯
Get a lot of money and you’ll have good friends
The drone shot while Cleet is taking off is absolutely legendary!!!
You've inspired me to practice my short field takeoffs and landings next time I go flying. The 172 that I have access to definitely won't perform like a Carbon Cub, but it's still fun to practice!
Awesome sight doing laps around the Freedom Factory in your plane. This video gave me an idea too. Drone races around the track.
I hope they can get approved to do this during a live event!
crashes the model then just jumps in the real thing, man has balls of steel, much respect good sir 🙏
'Sure glad you didn't hit electric lines like a bug. Tha Cub has that power! Now the private island republic of Cleetus to land on!
You've added an entire new category of content to your adventure! Awesome! Great flying! Kelly Johnson is a hero of mine. It's great to see you've gotten the Aviation bug some how! You gonna have Fat Tire Friday's at Freedom Factory?!?! Invite all the Bush Plane channels in for a Fly-In? Trent, Patey brothers...etc...etc. 😉 STOL Drag Saturday's!!! *admitted Aviation Addict!* 😁 Very exciting video, imo! Excellently put together content, too! Well done!
Its time to cancel cleetus!! He has gone WOKE!! Have you ever looked up who all these ads are that he runs?? All leftist companies that went WOKE and donated millions of dollars to the biden crime family!! I cant believe i fell for it!! Do you're own research, dont be a sheep!!
Cleetus is an exceptional flyer. Absolute natural skill. And his huge respect for flying he has just shows through. Very safe !
He's a natural when it comes to anything with an engine. Cars, boats, planes. He hops in and it's like he's been doing it for years.
Plain irresponsibility and stupidity.
You know you have a child now, right?
Airplanes aren’t toys. This was a dumb idea and even dumber content.
How can this be simultaneously the absolute hugest but also the most humble flex ever?
That's awesome! Man. Keep on keeping on man. Ole yeah that is A set of skills for sure.
I hope you show up to the next Freedom 500 in that plane... What a great show that would be! Hell yeah Brother!
There’s a lot to follow on CZcams. But soon as I see a Cleator video, come up, it’s the first one to watch always puts a smile on your face never know what you’re going to do next. You probably just made history by driving an airplane around a track. Absolutely epic.
I just want to say thank you for taking us along and allowing us to live our dreams through you... Hell Yeah Brother!
Cringe
You have done a great job in the planning of landing in the Freedom Factory. That will keep you safe and the FAA out of your mullet! One thought...can you land there after the proposed subdivision goes in? Could be an issue, but enjoy it while it lasts.
James @20:14 "We practiced, ...we never do that." lololol
Aviation and racing have always been my passion. Getting my CFII here in the next few months for rotorcrafts. Love the aviation videos
Land, Air and Sea Giraffe Garage Racing Team. Is slowly what Cleetus is creating.
Dude needs a vintage cigarette boat with twin big blocks
A big round of Applause 👏 Cleetus a fantastic landing at your own racetrack. Recently watched "Air America " and seeing this I think, at least you don't have to dodge any "Golden BB 's " 😅
Hands down for sure the FASTEST EVER lap around that track EVER both before your ownership, and now!.... for a plane!
You should totally do a lap time board like Top Gear, seeing the Carbon Cub on there would be so funny :D
