This video taught me what and when should a preliminary investigation be conducted. I learned that preliminary investigation is required to be conducted before filing a complaint IF the penalty of the offense is at least 4years, 2month, and one 1day of imprisonment.
I have also learned the purposes of the preliminary investigation (As stated in the ppt):
    • To protect the innocent against malicious prosecution,
    • To secure the innocent from public accusation,
    • And to protect the state from useless and expensive trials.
Thank you for posting this video Atty!

Good Day Atty., Thank you for elaborating to us what Preliminary Investigation is. I've learned that Preliminary investigation is an inquiry or proceeding to determine whether there is sufficient ground to engender a well-founded belief that a crime has been committed and the respondent is probably guilty thereof, and should be held for trial. The prosecutor will look for the probable cause to file the case in the court. It is required to be conducted before the filling of a complaint or information for an offense where the penalty prescribed by law is at least 4 years, 2 months and 1 day without regard to the fine. For the Light Felonies cases is not required too undergo Preliminary Investigation. I've also learned the three purpose of prosecution such that :To protect the innocent against hasty, oppressive and malicious prosecution.
To secure the innocent from an open and public accusation of trial. And to protect states from useless and expensive trials. Thank you so much Atty. God Bless

In this lecture I learned about the prelimenary investigation which is an inquiry or proceeding to determine whether there is a sufficient ground (probable cause) to engender a well founded belief that a crime has been committed and the respondent is probably guilty therefore, and should be held for trial. Not all cases are required for prelimenary investigation there are only selected cases for it to used where the penalty prescribed by law is at least 4yrs, 2months and 1day without regard to the fine. Normally it is not required for those light felony and punished below 4yrs,2months and 1day. The purpose of this is to protect the innocent against hasty, oppressive and malicious prosecution, to secure innocent from an open and public accusation of trial, to protect the state from useless and expensive trials.I have learned so much from you and I look forward to learning more. In the discussion I have learned about a preliminary investigation, which is an inquiry or proceeding to determine whether there is sufficient ground (probable cause) to engender a well-founded belief that a crime has been committed, and that the respondent is therefore likely guilty and should be held for trial. Preliminary investigation is not required in all cases; it is only utilized in certain cases where the sentence imposed by law is at least 4 years, 2 months, and 1 day without respect to the fine. It is usually not necessary for minor offenses with sentences of less than four years, two months, and one day. The goal is to protect the innocent from hurried, harsh, and malicious prosecution, to protect the innocent from an open and public allegation of trial, and to protect the state from unnecessary and costly trials.
