  • Get ready for 9th edition by making your Knights as flexible as possible with the all the weapon options!
    I was asked to do a magnetising guide for the Questoris Knights, so here it is!
    How to do all the weapon options so you can make all the classes of Knight from the Imperial Knight Codex
    Although I dont show the Preceptor class, you can apply the same techniques here to do so.
    Note that I use 2 Knight kits here to make all these options for a demonstration purpose. The Thermal Cannon, Battle Cannon and Las Impaler share many common parts to make both easily from the one kit without sacrificing certain elements such as the ammo type.
    Additionally the rocket pods also share common components, so making the front missile plate magnetic/removable is the way to go if you don't have 2 kits.
    So, if you have one kit you can make "easily"
    Las-impaler or Thermal Cannon or Rapid Fire Battle Cannon
    Reaper Chainsword
    Thunderstrike Gauntlet
    Avenger Gatling Cannon
    Icarus Autocannon
    Ironstrom Missile or Stormspear Rocket
    Heavy Stubber
    Meltagun
    A little more of a challenge you can make ALL the options, but I feel it is a bit more hardwork and may sacrifice some aesthetics.
    Magnets used
    8x2mm for the arms
    4x2mm for the carapace
    I get mine from eBay -
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-X-8mm-X...
    The same will work for Chaos Knights too!

    I'm sure you meant well, but sticking to that guide will actually cost people quite a lot of money. As far as I can tell you dont mention that you use parts from at least 2 knights. There is a way to magnetize all options from one kit to save a ton of money, but this is not it.

    • @jacobholt7837
      @jacobholt7837 Před rokem +1

    Did you magnetise the different weapon components and face plates too? I know the rocket/missile pod only comes with the interchangeable front part and the Thermal Spear and Rapid Fire Battle cannon share the same housing with a few loose parts to swap between the two.

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 4 lety +2

      In this video, I did not show how to make the two rocket plates interchangeable, rather I just focussed on the carapace magnet point. To do the rocket pod face, you will nee to use some old cut off sprue in the centre of the pod frame to attach magnets to it to provide a sub frame point. This would be quite similar to how i did the magnets on the main guns of the Executioner tank a while back as a good point of reference if you need assistance here :) The Thermal Cannon, Battle Cannon and Las-Impulsor all share that same rear section. I wasn't a fan of making all the ammo pieces magnetic )or alternatively pick one ammo option and then magnetise only the front plate with the weapon barrel as I felt it meant either losing parts, or missing an aesthetic out. If I was to do it though, to avoid that loss of component that would be inevitable(!) I would just mag the front plate to the rear section. Again would require a piece of old sprue to hold the main magnet as there is a hole there. Reality is the weapon is then very obvious to your opponent what it is/does in any game and ensure no confusion and people shouldn't get too salty over the ammo parts!

    Thank you for a great and very useful guide! What size magnet would you use for the waist joint? I am looking to magnetize that as well to help with transport. Do you reckon a 8x2mm would suffice?

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 2 lety +1

      I actually haven’t bothered magnetising the waist and leave them loose but it’s easy enough. You either need to cut off the top the waist dome and use putty and magnet fix in the gap then Alam one in the inverse receiver under the torso. Or… put the magnet inside the torso when you build it and then just cut the “nipple lug” off the waist dome and magnet there. Either works to keep the same fit of the joints. Size wise depends which you do. First method I think 8x2 should be fine. Second method 8x2 inside torso and whatever the lug size is should suffice. Hope this helps!

    • @stefan020290
      @stefan020290 Před 2 lety

      I magnetized a knight castellan with a 10mm disk magnet just before the hole and drilled into the dome and place a 8 x 2 mm there. It holds more than sturdy enough, the torso stays nice and posable. I wouldnt want to keep it loose as it would be way to easy for something to break off when body fell over. Which could easily happen if you game with the knight and pick it up wrongly.

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 2 lety

      @@stefan020290 that sounds like a good alternative too! Info get the added sturdiness you mention. I’ve not had an issue personally but it’s personal preference to go the extra mile

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 3 lety +2

      Flexibility in build as the points and weapon stats change per edition and per codex is the best route. Knights are one of the easiest to do this with plus the new Primaris vehicles. No one wants to spend £100 on a model only to find 2 weeks later that gun sucks!

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 3 lety +1

      To an extent yes it does! Chaos knights can take the same weapons on each arm but only comes with one in the box though. So for future proofing you should magnetise the same as I did here. I believe the arm joints are mechanically the same. Chaps ones don’t have carapace options though from memory. If that’s changed with a faq I missed the. The principle will be identical!

    Do you know if this guide is the same with the Magaera? Just placed an order for it, and it's my first knight, so not much context to guess by.

    • @OldAverageBritGaming
      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 2 lety +1

      It should be very very similar. The magaera is just some resin parts on the same chassis so all the main build is the same plastic including the upper arms. You then put on different armour plates and carapace and of course the weapon arms below the shoulder mounts. So most of what I cover is very applicable to your build!

      @OldAverageBritGaming  Před 2 lety

      It’s been a while since I did this one but I think 4x2 yes. I recall having to drill out that small area ever so slightly if memory serves. As the detail on the carapace is a circle. Drill it with 3mm and see what you think? Can always go wider but not smaller!
