Think about it: Maurice was very smart before the chemicals and once he was exposed he became the Albert Einstein of apes
Orangutan's are supposed to be highly intelligent irl too.
Thats his point he was signing before he had chemicals, but was trained in the circus tbf
â@@KhilitSavla25oh yea orangs are so fu king smart one named fu Manchu broke out his friends day after day for a few weeks before the zookeeper found.out he was hiding a piece of metal in his mouth and used it to pick the lock

âCaesar, weak!â
âKoba, weaker.â CAESAR IS FUCKING COLDDDD
That is such a strong line too... He doesn't correct him, because he is not arrogant thinking he is strong, and he knows he has weakness like any other ape, but he knows he is not as weak as Koba

Seeing Malcolm walk away for the final time, considering what happens to him after the movie ends, still makes me sigh with sadnessâŠ
Can you refresh my memory? What happens to him and how we know?

You start questioning the apeâs hierarchy and then Caesar screams âNO!â Then you instantly shut up like all the other apes. I think we all know whoâs the alpha of the troop
When Cesar went back home and looked at the camera footage as a kid 33:32 the reason why It had battery life is because they restored the power and it was charging
Oooooooh shit, NOW I got it! đ
@@drake8168 yeah most people miss that it's still plugged in the wall charging the whole time just needed power
I missed that, so long have I been wondering about that. I just figured it was a little hole that only existed to give Caesar that moment. Makes so much sense that it would have started charging when the power came on. đ
The real question is why the house still had its power capability flicked on in general. A couple months of nonpayment and it would have been shut off.
@@JessRansdellSmith Someone has to shut it off, if there's no one working anymore power goes forever until something breaks or some line is cut by a tree or something
Hey guys! Editor here, hope you enjoyed the reaction, this was a super fun one!
Also side note, Iâve made a new channel (which is the one Iâm commenting with right now lol) where Iâm gonna start uploading my own stuff! They wonât be quite like Alexâs videos but theyâll be similar! Thereâs a few experimental videos out there already that you can check out, with more on the way! So if for any reason you guys wanted to support me specifically, feel free to go check it out! (Yes this is absolutely a shameless plug đ)
That said Iâll still be editing Alexâs videos! My own channel is more of a side gig atm.
Anyway much love and enjoy the vid guys!
You should start secretly green screening yourself into the videos and see how long it takes before Alex notices
I loved it :3 want to see more things like this where you are interacting with Alex

@@ignitehope6220Haha OMG YES do that! đ

This movie shows how Caeser has come and how far his followers have come. Rocket has become his brother in every way that matters, Maurice is a teacher and Koba became his enforcer. They became a true family đ„č Itâs sad how it ended up :/
I want to hang out with Maurice and get drunk with him. Maurice is best bud.
This movie also shows the Caesar's story that Racka told Noa in Kingdom how he leads with decency and morality.
Gary Oldman looking at the iPad with the picture of his family is some insanely great acting. The man doesnât disappoint.
There was a big push to get Andy Serkis nominated for an Oscar for the work he put into this character, but it didn't happen. I think they couldn't do to some kind of technicality, being that his part was CGI and some how they considered it more of a voice over than acting. Even though he put all that time into the capture suit for all the movements to make Caesar come alive. The Oscars are so messed up.
Another example of why award ceremonies are pointless garbage that don't actually reflect the quality of production
Is that why he never got nominated? They didn't consider it an acting performance? That's SO messed up!
@@coachellyn Something to that effect, but yeah the Oscars are messed up in many ways these days.
I wouldnât say Gary oldmans character is a bad guy, he just a desperate guy trying to save people without all the information, from his prospective the apes just attack his home
Exactly, he didnât know Caeser like Malcom did so it was fair that he wouldnât just put all his faith into him. Also Malcom didnât see the destruction, Dreyfus saw young men die.
True, If he just listened to Malcolm tho maybe he would have been alive smhđ
@@Ninja_RcKMarino-gh9ufI think Malcom explained it poorly cause I donât even think he had all the information I donât even know if he knew who Koba actually was lol
I wish James Franco's character (Will) had come back for a cameo this movie, but we know he probably died from the virus when it first came out since he was in the outbreak city. We at least got a video clip.
There were companion books- Will did die of the virus, no probably. Also, spoilers for the next movie:
Malcolm, from this movie, is killed by the human antagonists of the next movie for trying to convince them to make peace with the apes. This scene is cut from the movie however.
Apparently James Franco wasn't even aware that they were re-using the footage.
@@firstnext5482yeah Will died from the virus same with his girlfriend and Malcolm tried to reason with the colonel when he got to the city but the colonel just saw him as a traitor to humanity and shot him.
Iâm glad Will didnât make a cameo. If he survived the virus that killed almost all of the humans on the planet it would have come across a little plot armoury. Like as a happy coincidence Will, Caesars surrogate dad, survived the Simeon flu!
To think Caesar is a chimp, the most violent species of Great Apes, and Koba is a Bonobo, who species is the most peaceful. Really make the whole situation so much worse, knowing what Koba was before everything he endured with humans.
A detail I think is pretty cool is that Caesar and the other apes pretty much only speak when theyâre trying to make a point or be intimidating, the rest of the time they sign to each other, and itâs because even though theyâre capable of it, theyâre still not biologically meant to, so it hurts them to speak
When Ceasar thinks of humans, he thinks of Will.
When Koba thinks of humans, he thinks of Jacobs.
So will Alex figure out heâs bad mouthing Sirius and Commissioner Gordon? Lol
That guy you called 'glasses', is one of the best actors alive.
I'm surprised you didn't recognize him from something... He's been in sooo many movies!
He played Commissioner Gordon from the Batman-Dark Kight movies?!...
His name is
Gary Oldman, & I'd bet you've seen him before.
..."People are terrible."
Yep, I'm with you on that one. đ€đ
Right! His role in this isnât big but man does he make the most of it! I mean look at what he was able to do in this movie! Alex didnât like him but then you have that moment of him looking at the tablet & thatâs all due to Garyâs performance! Itâs honestly my favorite scene in the film
Every Nolan Batman, harry potter 3 through 5, robocop remake, fifth element, so many more
For a franchise thatâs almost 60 years old the movies are still straight bangers, and theyâve got 5 more planned!
I really hope theyâre actually good! I went to see _Kingdom_ when it came out recently, and was honestly kind of disappointed. It was a cool popcorn movie, and a fun adventure, but a one time watch. Nowhere near as moving, intellectually stimulating, or gripping. đ«€
5?
Seems like they don't know when to quit.
I would have aimed for 5 in total, just like the original ones. Only this time the 5th one is the remake/reimagination of the original first one.
Woah whereâd you see that?
@@aldo6532idk where but the director of Kingdom said he wanted a Noa trilogy so 2 more with Noa and then a final trilogy to close the saga (not sure if itâll involve Noa or another time skip)
â@@milo_thatch_incarnate I thought the kingdom was amazing as a continuation and a start to a new story.
Alex: "Talking"
Ceasar: "Nooo"
Alex: "Ok..."
Ceasar talk, Alex listen!
This movie is amazing and the trilogy is one of the best trilogies ever made.
I wish that there would have been a way for Koba to see that it isn't every human that is bad, he is such a tragic character. Koba wasn't a chimpanzee, he was a bonobo. Bonobos are actually MUCH more peaceful and docile than chimpanzees in nature and domesticated. Once you know that, it is so tragic to mentally figure out the kind of torture that he was put through in the labs with humans.
Can't wait ti see your reaction to War.
I always put it like this. This trilogy is the best trilogy since the lord of the rings
I donât think these are considered a trilogy with a fourth one coming out.
@@RYVN. Well, the new ones are set in the future with none of the original characters remaining. It's the same way Star Wars has a prequel trilogy, original trilogy and a sequel trilogy.
So early the Simean Flu hasnt spread yet
Your fuckin editing jokes are becoming major highlights đ
This intro is my favorite of all of them
34:23 wrong. He's not a bad guy. He's trying to keep his group safe. Especially since koba lead a huge army of apes to attack them unprovoked.
Yea I was about to comment he's completely fair in calling for help and then assuming it was all out war. He thought everything worked out and they would be peace then randomly attacked and put in cages. Completely fair to wanna retaliate
@@edot7266exactly. Plus he didnât know Caeser like Malcom did so it was fair that he wouldnât put his faith in him or trust him. Dreyfus saw so much destruction. In Dreyfusâ point of view Malcom looks like the crazy one thatâs going against his own people
One of the things I love about the apeâs home fortress is that itâs exactly what we imagined we were building as children when we gathered driftwood and built forts on the beach and grandmas house. We had such grand plans đ
War for the planet of the apes is the greatest piece of cinema ever made
Thank you! I think itâs incredible! Rise is good donât get me wrong but both Dawn & War take the series to a whole new level!! Both of them are fantastic films with amazing performances!!
@@Adrianne519 I know right
This movie really made my jaw drop when it came out.
Still as good as the first time I watched it.
"Apes are so nice!"
Who wants to tell him about the Chimp War?
Some apes have also been documented killing babies of their own kind and being cannibals... so yeah, not exactly angels.
Yeah the generalization is quite hypocrite and annoying. Dude is totally biased and can't enjoy the actual conflicts that happen in the movie.
Andy Serkis is one of the most talented actors of our time. Dare i say Alof ALL time. He IS Cesar.
Cesar is an incredible chatacter and hero to his kind. He is truly inspiring!!!
These films for me, trigger a very strong emotional response. It's strange how i can feel more empathy for apes than humans.
Every actor playing a principle character and supporting character is amazing in their roles. Very talented peopleđđ»
I always mistake Andy for Michael Sheen and is like âhe plays Ceasar, Gollum AND Aroâ and then realizes thatâs not him đ
@@Emilie_wallin đ
8:23 the fact that you went silent with the other apes when Caesar screamed was hilariousđđ
LITERALLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE SINCE U DID THE FIRST ONE
Same here! I really want him to just watch the last movie now and that way he still remembers all the context
@@garretthorsch8143 yesssss!!!! i do hope he reacts to the new one that came out
I know you said you don't want to watch the old planet of the apes movies, but I think you should, I promise you, you will not be disappointed, they are actually well done and the makeup is incredible specially for the time
One of the greatest trilogies of all time, every movie in it is better than the one before, amazing.
I wouldnât put the trilogy at the top just because the lord of the rings, back to the future, etc all exist but I will 100% say that this is the best trilogy since Lord of the rings for sure
@@garretthorsch8143 its the best trilogy
Love the back and forth between you and your editor đ it's always so funny, never stop
I dont know why more folk dont react to Maurice talking. Its the first time we do and his voice gives me shivers each time
I really love how much you emphasized âapes being better than humansâ in the beginning of the reaction, you get to learn the same thing ceaser learns in this movie, apes and humans are very similar, humans arent evil theres good and bad in every species
Canât wait till Alex meets Bad Ape in the next one đ
Wow, I never expected a movie about talking apes to be this gripping! The emotions, the action, the suspense... it was all there. Caesar is one of the most compelling characters I've seen in years. This movie deserves way more recognition!
39:08 whatâs sad about this moment is that off screen Malcom canonically gets executed by the next movies antagonist for aiding Caesar and because he tried to convince them not to kill the apes
ONE major reason I love Dawn soo much is because of how the visuals improved. It was literally when UC1 (Rise) released and it was good for it's time but then UC2 (Dawn) released, it was mind blowing. Dawn will still hold up for years and years to come.
Another reason is because Dawn's story is more compelling and adds a new human vs ape conflict that was teased with certain humans. that is more explored and done really well
I love how the movie starts by zooming away from caesarâs face and ends by zooming in
The editor getting more and more screen time is my favorite đ
Rocket's arc for the 3 movies is still the best for meeee~ from being a bully and then being loyal to ceasar đ
You can't just disrespect Gary Oldman like that. Commissioner Gordon and Zorg both survived the apocalypse .
1968 is the reason all the rest of the supporting movies exist.
It's the ACTUAL Planet of the Apes movie.
Du -Mass.
Itâs basically the world in these movies after thousands of years and I think thatâs cool as fuck
MAURICE Evans - Dr. Zaius
BUCK Kartalian- Julius

I wonder if there are more characters named in homage to the original
love this movie. i felt so bad for koba. when hurt and hate is all you know, thatâs all that comes out. imagine the pain he went through, being born in a lab and instantly into pain and torture. he was brain washed from the start and trusting humans was never an option for him.
Such a remarkable cast... Gary Oldman is one of my favorites actors(The professionnal, Batman movies, 5th element, Dracula...)... And Andy Serkis a great performer... The CGI is great, that movie is awesome... I like what you do Alex, always fun to hear your reactions.
If you've never seen "Leon: The Professional", you definitely should watch it... Nathalie Portman(as a young kid), Gary Oldman(as the junkie killer) and Jean Reno(as a professional hitman)...
Alex: i wish i had opposable thumbs on my feet
*me remembering him chastising Hank/Beast for hand feet*
I actually feel bad for Koba. Heâs a very nuanced âvillain.â
Heâs been very mistreated by humans, and he loves Caesar.
So I can understand Kobas struggle. đ„
Never underestimate Andy Serkis. đ
On wow, just realised that I forgot that Caeser and the main apes had human performances behind them. Here's me for a second thinking "that apes a really good actor" đ
@@maximumeffort5182Yeah itâs Gollum himself đ
Calling him little Caesars during the emotional parts took me out of it đ too funny
Being on YT for years now and im quite confident you've got one of the best editors i've seen đ
Please trust the original. Itâs a staple of classic science fiction and donât underestimate it either. Great reaction đđœ. This is my favorite franchise and I love seeing people be introduced to it through this great trilogy.
Lol đđ even Alex stopped talking when Caeser shouted "NO"!!! Alex I totally get it, koba has every right to hate humans, I mean look at what they did to him but from Caesars POV he's got a whole clan to worry about, he is the leader of many not just of koba and his fear is that even if they attack first there are still unknowns he's unaware of... And like I said he cares a lot for his clan members!!
Caesar: "Ape, Did This"
Alex: "Wasn't The Humans. It Was That Scumbag Taco" đđ
36:02 Alex was on point predicting everything in this movie scary accuracy
The original from 68 is legitimately awesome.
The quality of its sequels ranges from decent to needs drugs, however
Just rewatched this and I'm blown away all over again. The apes aren't just CGI, they're characters with depth and emotion. Caesar's struggle is heartbreaking, and Koba is the perfect villain. The action is intense, but it's the story that really stays with you. If you haven't seen this, do yourself a favor and check it out!
I don't have a more or less. I like them respectively and that they made each part very individual. But more because the overall story of Caesar the ape. I never would have considered that a CGI (wow and that job too) ape would go down as one of the most endearing characters in film but here we are.
CANNOT WAIT for your War of the Planet reaction!! Great video as always, you always know how to keep us engaged with your thoughts. This is my favorite trilogy ever and I hope by the end of the journey, it's yours too.
2:15 "Die in the fighting" refers to human on human fighting, probably for resources. Resources that apes don't need so they kept away from those human conflicts. An important factor of this world is that the apes didn't destroy human civilization, humans did it themselves.
Just in case you didn't figure it out, "Glasses" is the same actor that played Serius Black.
I think Gary Oldman being called a âscrubâ might be a first đ
I think he was called worse, when he played Stansfield in Leon
they showed this movie to a room full of chimps that actually seemed to _understand_ the movie. who the good ape and bad ape was. cheered at the high points, looked all pensive and sad at the low points...
wow arons editing has really improved in the last couple of months
This movie is a perfect example of theres no black & white good vs evil. Just completely different upbringings. Koba only knew pain and suffering and torture from humans. Cesar, despite knowing the ugly side of humans, also learned to behave and to love and be compassionate from them. Even though Koba was manipulating the apes and committed awful acts of treason, you can still understand how he would go down that path
cant wait for the next ape reaction, these movies are REALLY good, all of em. None is bad
"Taco dont give a fuck dude" Im dead lol
The actor for ceaser is Andy Serkis, those are his eyes lol
Ever since seeing this movie me and my Brothers have a joke about how hot Ceasers Wife is anytime anyone says someone is attractive we'll always say "She's hot, but not as Hot as Ceasers Wife"
Y'all know it's true đ
Koba was such a great villain
Awesome can't wait for the next!
The first frame of this film is Caesar in his jungle with face paint (full ape) the ending frame is Ceasar in the City with no face paint (becoming more like humans)
I just watched these films for the first time recently myself, and this was my favorite one! I thought all three were really good, all three really moved me, but ultimately if I had to pick one favorite this would be it.
Love your reactions Alex! Iâve been watching you for years, but now I have my husband invested too and he wonât let me watch one of your reactions without him đ
Your editor is one of the best out there, for sure lol
i love it how he predicted most of the movie within around 10 minutes
These 'new' movies (watch the new 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes', came out recently) perfectly slot into the lore of the older movies from the 60's and 70's....and no, there was no cgi back then, but imho they hold up real nice....the first one from 1968 is with Charlton Heston, very big name back then - the story continues with these movies where the new ones left off - give or take a few hundred years...certainly worth a watch (and a reaction vid on YT of course!).
Koba's one of the greatest villains ever! He's up there with Thanos, Killmonger, Loki, Ultron, and The High Evolutionary from Marvel, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Silva from Skyfall, Gen. Hummel from The Rock, Tavington from The Patriot, the Muto's from the 2014 Godzilla, and Feyd Rautha from Dune.
man i loved this SO MUCH
The ape koba threw off the balcony was actually ash, rockets son (ape from the sanctuary Cesar was in in the first movie, and Caesarâs right hand man) which makes it even more sad
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł I liked the video on the guys middle finger coming into view behind you alone! Hilarious!
I love how alex just forgets kobas name and calls him "taco"đ
