I'm playing James' guitar from 1:41:40 forward! That whole in the crowd section I'm strumming the notes and he held the chord, when he's smiling, talking to someone at the end, that's to me. I was at this one. 7 years later and I still think of it often.
I went to see Metallica back in the 1990's sometime when they did their box-set live.
There was also two other bands with them as well. Like suicidal tendency and Danzig.
It took place at Allentown fairgrounds in Pennsylvania.
I wish Metallica could come back to that place again.
That was the coolest live show ever. Also I think ahead over 4, 000 people give or take it, could have been more.

The August 6th 2017 show in san Diego at Petco Park was amazing as well! Slightly different set list.
A buddy of mine went to both, said San Diego show wad better than the Rose Bowl show by far. I only went to the San Diego show but I'll never forget it for sure!

I was in a band in my 20s. The biggest crowd we ever had was about 2,800 people. I was as nervous on stage as I was when we did our first show -- so I couldn't connect with the audience that well. These guys have been playing for crowds of 50,000 plus for 30 years, but I can tell they have a bond with their fans like they are still rockin out in their bedrooms with their best friends. FUK YEAH...MORE BEER! Amirite?
I was susprised that after the jam on Runnin' that they did'nt switched guitars. Seek And Destroy in Eb!
Don't they always play that in Eb now? Confused bc I've seen a couple in D tuning and a few in Eb
@@ryangreene50 They do a majority of the show in Eb besides some heavy stuff like Sad but True and God That Failed which are in D. Occasionally they go to C# for Thing that Should not Be and Dream no More. And Drop C# for All Nightmare Long. The stuff they do from Saint Anger is all in drop C (since they don’t do the B-Sides from that album)
Oh shit this is just about Seek and Destroy… they used to do it in D till the mid-late 2010s then they’ve been doing it in Eb

Metallica has to be the band that has played in front of the most people live over their career given the size of the places they sellout and the number of live shows they've done. Rose Bowl holds 90,000 people in the stands. Then fill up the field w more people. That is a big audience.

I was at that show!!! 🤞 I’m really hoping there’s one, like a full show though. I know they captured at least some songs because it’s part of their tour compilation video.
I have the audio CD from that concert and it sounds pretty good. Too much crowd noise though but it’s whatever.
