can you please tell me what is the artist ID here? how did you define artistID ? and also i have used a valueEventListener to retrieve data in listview.. so can i use child event listener also ? but just for deleting data

Thanks for the tutorial, it was really helpful. But you should return true from the setOnItemLongClickListener otherwise your click and longClick both will be triggered.
You should update the Genre as well in the update dialog, it was missing.

Simplified Coding Hi, I have managed to replace listview with recyclerview thanks to your tutorial.
Problem is adding pop-up menu to the recyclerview inorder to display Add Tracks and Delete menus.
I found one of your tutorials on doing this but it throws exception: Binary XML file line#0: You must supply a layout height attribute.

When we long click on listview the dialog box is open but at the same time the AddTrackActivity also opens...how can i solve this problem
Probably too late but, you have to return "boolean" true at the end of "OnLongClickListener" to indicate you don't want further processing.

no error in android studio...it succesfuly builds the .apk
When your app crashes it is actually a run time error and you can see the error into android monitor.. so check why your app is crashing there then only we can help..

On android studio in the bottom you will see logcat. It displays the run time exception and errors.. You will see a bunch of read lines there. Check those read lines
