The international market I shop in has them for $11.99lb. I'm going to brake down and buy one. Everything is much higher in intl market stores even products made in North America which I don't buy in them when I can just go to a regular store and buy much cheaper.
I understand the mark up because alot of the products have to be shipped from other countries.
I glad that I found out about fruits other than apples. Oranges, pears, bananas and how healthy these fruits are.

$7.99 for one here. Since I see them once every 2 years, it's worth it.

Are you saying that they need to ripen longer to go from green to brown or are there two different types of Cherimoyas?

Let it go brown. I just bought my first one - no idea how much i paid for it - and if it's green, like my one was, then only the centre will be ripe, which is like a pulp. the rest of the inside was tougher than an apple, and was not much to the taste. Next time, I will let it ripen. Fruity custardy is best way I can describe it and it's beautiful. Make sure to REMOVE the seeds because they are like stones!!!

One of the best fruits, but so frustrating to eat. It’s a big process. Taking a bite with seeds and spitting them out takes away from experiencing the full deliciousness of the fruit. You want to sit down with a knife and pluck out the seeds from the bite you want before biting into it, that way you can freely bite down into it.
To me cherimoyas taste like a banana with the texture of an avocado.
