Austin would be the first to admit that Rob outperfomed him. Austin actually went back and redid his part before it was released.
Rob had operatic training in college and had last performed opera in 2006, It was Austin who encouraged Rob to do this well known Aria. Apparently when rehearsing for this piece, after hearing Rob's performance, Austin went back to rerecord his portion of the song because Rob's, as you noted, was so strong. Austin had classical training as well but in theater. Some reactors who have performed opera have commented that Rob could easily move into the opera genre with a little more additional training to perfect his skills, whereas they said that Austin was considered a more of a crossover artist for opera such as Andrea Bocelli, or the guys in Il Divo. I agree with you. I though Rob's low tenor near baritone caught me off guard since I am so used to his light tenor sounds in most of his leads and backgrounds.

I have never been a big fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.

Rob studied opera in college. Austin said he was actually a little scared to do this next to Rob. But he can sing anything. You're right though Rob is Great in this...
Trust me, no one is offended. With classical training Rob is going to overpower Austin in opera! They were both fabulous!
In an interview with Patrol Gaming Austin said that he'd really wanted to show off "opera" Rob; however, Rob said he wouldn't unless Austin sang it with him. Austin said he thought he'd been okay but that Rob was fantastic. I love the way they support each other. Rob's training in opera was extensive, Austin had some as his degree is in Musical Theater. BTW, I think the first one who'd agree with your opinion is Austin!
Yes, I agree with you. Rob had studied opera in college but that was years ago. Austin studied musical theater so I’m not surprised he wasn’t quite up to Rob’s level. And that’s ok. Austin was the one who wanted Rob to do this but Rob wouldn’t do it without Austin. Austin was quite respectable I thought. Some opera reactors said with some practice/study Rob could be an opera singer. Such a good rendition. Good reaction Maria!😍
When Austin heard Rob's part, he went back & re- recorded his part again. Both have great talent.
It's probably been stated a million times by now , Rob studied classical voice in college. He learned Nessun Dorma because it was a favorite of his dad. Austin did a great job for not knowing the piece. Austin did hold back. because he wanted Rob to shine.
Austin is amazing as always but Rob? Wowzers you can tell he has been Opera trained and for a significant amount of time? I can’t sing and I cannot speak another language besides English….I cannot imagine singing in another language in this style especially. Opera is so technical and this was outstanding. Plus I love it when artists cross genres and absolutely shine. 💗

My favorite tenor aria, the level of excitement when I first saw this, oh my goodness, I already loved Home Free, but Rob stunned me with that clearly operatic trained voice, I melted ❤.

The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. ❣

This was Austin's idea and he had to convince Rob to do it. Because of Rob's had not sung Opera in over 15 years. Thank God they did this because it was absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

Rob was classically trained. Austin had some classical with music theater. None of the others are classically trained. Adam is honing his singing with a music app,but his major was trumpet in college.
Adam Rupp was trained in Jazz drums.
I’ve watched four opera singers react to this. All indicate that while Austin isn’t really singing in the opera tradition, but a more contemporary / crossover vein, he still sounds really good.
Rob however, was deemed legit. In fact, Peter Barber said Rob sounds better than many people who’ve spent undergrad studying opera. There are some picks about Rob’s Italian pronunciation, but he represents the expected sounds and resonances of opera.
I was surprised at how different his tone is. I could still pick that out as Austin with my eyes closed. But Rob would be unfamiliar. Going back to some old Home Free songs, I can pick out “Opera Rob”. And especially in the live version of Skull & Bones.

This is an Operatic Aria made most famous by the Great Luciano Pavarotti. Rob is an Operatic Tenor & Austin is a Lyric Tenor which is what gives this performance such a unique sound. That is also why Rob's voice is more suited to the Aria. But, in saying that, they are both superb in this performance.
Love these two together, but I think Rob is unbelievable here. Great reaction to our guys! 🎉
I trained as a basso profundo and been around opera for most of my life... this blew me away. Was Rob perfect? No. But he definitely shows operatic training. Austin was a little more theatrical in his singing style, but that and his brighter tenor tone fit well as a contrast to Rob's darkened tenor voice, so it didn't take away from their performance.

Given the use of the word 'try' in the CZcams listing for this, many fans were thinking lip syncing would be involved, or something comedic, given Home Free's history with being very lighthearted in some of their performances. No surprise....a lot of shocked reactions. As noted by others, Rob is classically trained in opera, therefore, he brings those skills even though he'd stepped away for a long stretch. You'll never see these two, in the same light, going forward, and may hear instances of Rob's rich, operatic vocals creeping in. He has the power but sometimes it gets muted for a particular song or when he shifts to his silly tenor.
Lol know one is mad most people that I've heard comment say exactly that including reactors with professional backgrounds in this genre this is well into Robs wheelhouse. Enjoyed the reaction.

You've been Rob-smacked! If you were to ask anyone (except Rob) in HF who's the best singer, they'll all say without hesitation that Rob is the best. (I don't know Rob's opinion!) And, yes, every opera singer and vocal coach reactors I've watched have been impressed with Rob.

If you truly want to hear the real Austin Brown the you have to see is solo of Bring Him Home. It is truly who he is deep inside.

Correction. You are a little misinformed. Rob did do opera in college but he hadn't sung a note for the last 15 years. Austin studied musical theatre in college and though there may be similar elements, he definitely didn't study opera. None of the others studied opera/musical theatre and I doubt any of them is doing classical training right now.
Rob sang the dramatic tenor part and Austin a lyric tenor. Rob has the lower space for the darker tone. Austin being a lyric tenor does not have the same lower space needed for the rich darker tone. I got this from a creator who is an opera singer
I was a little nervous about watching this the first time. I was kind of scared for them - as if they would ever do anything badly. But it made me cry the first time. And absolutely this was Austin pushing Rob into the limelight. I know they were both nervous about it, too. They weren't sure the fans would like it. Ha!
Only Rob studied opera 🙂 Austin has his training in musical theatre. Both are amazing!
Hi Robb went to college to study opera and Austin is classically trained. I heard something about the guys saying Robb has the best voice out of the group.

Outstanding reaction, as always. But technical note: I found it distracting that the audio and video was slightly out of sync. Other reactors to this cover don't have this problem, so it has to be in your set up.

Rob is trained in opera, Austin is not. So I do agree that Rob outperformed Austin, but everything considered, Austin sounds amazing.
Ok I've been binge watching your HF playlist and have to say a couple of things. I like watching your reactions but this is one of the few times I've ever heard you mention any of them by name. Second, they all have VOCAL training not necessarily classical except Adam (who has a naturally beautiful voice and wide range, not to mention being able to play a dozen actual instruments). Rob studied Opera and Austin was trained in Musical Theatre. Adam is uncomfortable singing lead (according to his brother Chris) because unlike the others he had no vocal training. While he's getting more comfortable singing any kind of lead he's not being classically trained.
I have no idea just what you are wearing except that I think your socks were knocked off...
