    GTA V high settings with around 40 fps on a true budget build is not pushing the limit...

      Getoar Sadiku
      It's definitely 'many.'
      man·y
      [ˈmenē]
      DETERMINER
      more (comparative adjective) · most (superlative adjective)
      a large number of:
      "many people agreed with her" · "the solution to many of our problems" · "many think it is a new craze"
      NOUN
      the majority of people:
      "music for the many"
      synonyms: people · common people · masses · multitude · populace · public · rank and file · proletariat · mob
      antonyms: few
      In this case it is "a large number of" frames per second. Don't try to correct something that's already right.

I bought an MSI GT1030 and a WD 250GB SSD and now I have a great little HTPC for 4k60 video and even light 1080p gaming. Total cost was $185, Including an LG Blu-ray drive.

    Perfect timing for this video, I was just thinking about buying a GT 1030 for my Dell Optiplex 775 which I managed to pick it up for around $30 and I'm supplying it with 8GB of RAM and a Q6600 in a few days, adding a GT 1030 would make this a capable machine.

      @nickldominator Před 7 lety +1

      +MrSpecialR I had an Optiplex 775 laying around a few weeks ago and I had a 1050 laying around also, so I decided to try it out. The OEM mobo had no problem supplying the 75 Watts required by the card. I ran Unigine Heaven benchmark with no issues at all. Definitely go for the 1050 rather than the 1030. It's at most $30 more but is well worth it.
      All I had to do to make the 1050 fit was take some snips and cut off a small piece of the CPU plastic shroud in the corner, where it would collide with the card otherwise.

    • @MrSpecialR
      @MrSpecialR Před 7 lety

Also for those who are curious on how it runs before the change, it currently uses a intel(r) hd graphics 4600 which places fps for gta v to a range of 14 to 30 fps. Still weak to some if not able to change out card yet, but entry level wise I would highly recommend, especially with 1030.

    You should do a video on a $800 used PC (Crossfire/Sli and maybe dual Xeons).

    • @computerboy9766
      @computerboy9766 Před 7 lety +2

      Probbaly a server would be his best bet. If you can get a server with dual Xeons and a lot of ram for about $200, as long as the server has the power connectors for the cards, put two high-end used cards in it (once the prices come back down, please miners settle down a little!), link them in SLI and there you go. The reason these machines are so cheap is because they are used for VMWare EXSi, and for some reason there simply isn't enough cpu power to keep the VM's happy, or they are just getting too old, so the corps put them up for sale. I have a DL120 G7 in a closet with dual E5540's in it and a 1060 and it happily runs most games on the 'high' (NOT ULTRA) preset, which got for $50 on Ebay. After of course I did a jank-wagon HDD-tray to PCI-e 6 pin hack, then that literally caught on fire so I just bought one for $6.

      I have an i5 though with 16GB RAM and an SSD, so a much better suited system to a more powerful card such as the 1050ti.
      You'll start to see diminishing returns with a card faster than a 1030 with only a Sandy Bridge i3.

    This is how I built a sim racing rig using my old Acer Veriton X4618G small form factor after I upgraded. When I bought this computer it was pretty well up there in spec, with a 2nd gen i7 processor, 8GB and 500GB drive. I started off just adding a PNY GT1030 2GB. It was the only card that would fit in the bottom of the Veriton. Even minimal as the footprint of this card is, it barely had 1/8 inch of clearance at the bottom of the case. It did run my Assetto Corsa just fine with setting at 2/3 to 3/4 max. I was getting frame rates of 55-60. The problem was heat. My GPU was maxing out at 83C and the card would throttle down during max load. Even though it worked fine I decided to get a new case, and while I was at it I bought a lightly used Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD to use as my boot drive. Much better. Running faster and does not sound like a tornado in the box while driving the Nurburgring Nordschliefe. I highly recommend this path if you have a old computer like this but if it is a small form factor you should upgrade the case. It will give you the added benefit of a better power supply as well. At the time I upgraded Corsair had a $20 rebate on its VS450 power supply which was selling for $35. I will be able to upgrade this box easily if I so choose in the future.

      Never buy pre built pcs online from another country the shipping costs really aren't worth it. 60 euros for a system like this wouldn't be that much of a waste and even if this guy got it for 40 you have to realize that making videos is his job so he probably checks ads all of the time to find the best deals provided he even says the truth about the price.

    Love my OptiPlex 990 SFF. Intel Core i5-2500S + low-profile Zotac GTX 1050 Ti, with a 4 TB HD providing ample storage for my smaller SSD boot disk. I’ve also got it dual-booting to macOS in addition to Windows 10, so yeah, I’m pretty happy with it. This is a solid computer that I’d recommend to anyone who wants a compact and relatively powerful build.

    I have an old, small form factor OEM with a Pentium G630, 4GB memory, and a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive. The main limiting factor for a GPU is the crappy 220w PSU. Would I be able to use a GT 1030 with it anyway? Also, is it a good choice with the G630, or would it be bottlenecked? Thanks in advance

    • @RadioRAAA
      @RadioRAAA Před 7 lety +5

      The GT1030 is ideal for the system you've got. I'm running a GT 1030 in an Acer OEM machine with a 220w PSU like yours, as well as similar other specs, and I've had no issues with power requirements. Something like an RX460 or GTX 1050, while much better in terms of price to performance, is simply too risky to use on such low wattage.
      The CPU will be a slight bottleneck, but providing you stick to e-sports , any dual core CPU is fine and you'll reach 60FPS on a mixture of higher and medium settings. Happy gaming my friend :)

      @timf8128 Před 7 lety

      Great, thanks! Also, do you know of any budget 1080p gaming monitors? I have 2 monitors, 1280x1024 and 1440x900. Neither of them is even 16:9, so I'm looking for a new one.

    • @RadioRAAA
      @RadioRAAA Před 7 lety +3

      I'm happy i could help!
      I'm not an expert on monitors, so take my advice with a pinch of salt. However, by 'budget' I assume you mean below £/$150. For a budget display, g-sync and freesync are out of the question, and IPS technology, from what I've seen personally is not essential, and the difference between that and normal displays is only noticeable in situations which aren't typical of everyday gaming.
      You're looking at a 24 or 21.5 inch panel, both running full 1080p, in that sort of price range, depending on the features you want (such as response time, refresh rate and which ports it comes with. Lower response times are better, higher refresh rates are better, and ports aren't usually an issue, depending on what cables you have spare.) I personally use a 24 inch monitor by Acer, and I find its just the right size, as 27 inch screens start to get too big and mean I'm not able to see the entire screen in my field of view (not ideal when gaming).
      For the best entry-level/budget monitor, I'd say this monitor by Asus has to be the ideal choice (www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VS248HR-Gaming-Monitor-DVI-D/dp/B014RKZ81O/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1499547459&sr=1-3&keywords=acer+24+inch+monitor) It's the bestseller in monitors, so is probably justified in its 4.5 star reviews. Wait around for Amazon prime day (11th july) and this monitor may even be reduced.
      Final point on speakers; this monitor won't come with any, and it varies from monitor to monitor at this price point as to if they've got integrated speakers or not. However, since you're looking to game, I'm guessing you already have some headphones or a USB headset, which can both run through your desktop tower, so integrated speakers shouldn't be an issue for you.

      I think I may have that system (25 of them actually) , I only use them for mining with a gtx 1050ti. (25 of them) If the PCI-E slot supports a 75w card then You can use a gtx 1050ti. I've actually overclocked them 100 on the core and 200 on the memory and lowered the power limit to 80% with MSI afterburner. I ran a bunch of benchmarks on the 1st one I set up, furmark, 3d mark vantage, Wprime and they all ran stable. No problems on any of them yet. They run 24/7.

    • @timf8128
      @timf8128 Před 7 lety

      Even with the 220w PSU? Seems a bit too much. Besides, I usually only play older titles, like NFSMW, GTAVC, and others around that time period, so I probably don't need anything more than a 1030.

Did a bit of research and had no idea what I wanted for Christmas anyway so asked my girlfriend to order me one of these GT1030s. Apparently they overclock really well too. It's nothing amazingly special but a basic small form factor gaming PC for basically no money is not to be sniffed at. Upgrading to legit Windows 10 using the key on the side of the case is a bonus too!

      I put the 1030 in mine and it seems to work pretty well, but I swapped the base unit out for another one I found in the pile that had an i5 3570 and USB 3 ports on the mobo. It's alright, runs Dark Souls 3 pretty good at 900p. Overclocking's not worth it with the passive card, maybe a slight overclock you can get away with. I bought a GTX1050ti this week though so when that arrives gonna put it in there. The 2500 is on my desk at work as a Win10 test machine so might throw the 1030 in there for some lunchtime gaming action.

    That freaked me out a bit that super perfect tight fit !!hahahaha
    I love the GT1030 OC 2G DDR5 Gigabyte card I got WOW!!
    ALOT OF PUNCH for this little guy..
    I play mostly 1366x768 and it just fly's and lower and mostly really old games from over 10 to 15 years ago so this card kinda beats out high end cards of those days!

    I have this same PC, GTX 1050 runs just fine in it. Paired it with an i5 2400 and its a great little gamer. That CPU blower fan noise tho....GD...
