- AUDIO ISSUES, SEE THE "REPOST" VERSION This month, I discuss the new features for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan. I also discuss the ongoing depreciation among electric vehicles, and focus on the EQS depreciation and why this is occurring. I wrap it up with my recommendation on whether I will upgrade when the 2025 models come out and whether you should wait for the 2025 models or go ahead and buy an EQS now.
I love my EQS 580 despite the hit on depreciation. Very luxurious and smooth to drive. I get about 370 miles of range. I don’t like the air conditioner - it’s noisy and hard to regulate. Wish I had a heated steering wheel and door open on approach.
Best to get one a year old with low miles for half the price. These things depreciate worse that Tesla and Tesla reduced their pricing by 30% so at least if you stick with a Tesla when you trade, the depreciation gets offset by the pricing reduction. So based on the latest pricing I traded my model 3 for 5 years and it cost me only $15,000. A new EQS would cost about $125,000 to drive for 5 years (just a guess)
I would wait until they have the NACS adapter as standard equipment. While Ford and Rivian now have adapters there has only been silence from Mercedes on when we will receive one.
They are replacing the CCS port with the NACS in the 2025 models; adapters will work for the 2022-2024 vehicles I presume.
@@EQS-Owner Yeah I was about to type this as well. I'm 99% sure Mercedes already said they're going to use NACS in 2025
@@mjohnsimon1337 it was not in their press release for the 2025 sedan, but it was in a press release back in July.
I think the lack of demand for Mercedes EVs is the price for most people. It’s a great car, but the price point vs other EV manufacturers is pretty high.
The challenge is they knew their customer base was people who would spend more money for a higher quality car. Even with this in mind, their EQ line (EQS, EQE, EQB) didn't sell as well as they hoped. They even kept the price at a moderate point. My EQS-580 is less expensive than the gas powered S-580.
I bought the AMG versions of the EQE and EQS. They are both great. Super luxurious. Great handling, especially rear wheel steering. Obviously not bought to save money on gas but they are super convenient, charging in my garage, and they get compliments everywhere. The EQS is a limited Manufaktur gold matte.
@@hewitc that's awesome ‼️ I am happy for you and the gold sounds very cool 👍
I would appreciate a sound quality improvement or mic used, has too many voice distortion
Yeah, that was my fault in post filming - sorry. I turned up the volume and it distorted my voice. I didn't notice it on my computer when I played it back before publishing, but I noticed it on my other devices once I did. Sorry ; lesson learned.
Reposted, but left this one up (renamed) to preserve the comments made).
Keith, thanks for another helpful video. What did you mean by the back seats recline up to 38 degrees? Is that 38 degrees beyond 90 degrees?
From their fully upright position, they recline 38 degrees back. It sounds like more than it feels (my rear seats recline enough to make you feel like you are leaning back, but not enough to make you feel like you are laying down)
That’s what I figured. Thanks.
Nice talk. I think the new front grill is worth modding
What would you do?
I would very likely get the new front grill installed, plus the Mercedes standing logo. I wouldn’t go so far as to upgrade to the new vehicle. My 2022 model works flawlessly so far with almost 50,000 km.
Won't you wrap pcs of your eps to EDITION1 style?
No, I really like the silver color all over.
