  • This month, I only drove my EQS 580 a total of 118 miles - flying for extended stays out of state will do that. As promised last month, I share 5 unsung favorites:
    1) The pillows
    2) The cameras
    3). The hidden charger
    4). The left/right parking lights
5). My dealership - very much a part of the ownership experience

Fellow EQS SUV (580) owner here! I got mine back in April 2023, and I have been driving, on average, 4,000 miles per month. As of right now, the mileage is 22,000 miles. This is one of the best EVs I have ever owned, compared to all the BMW, Audi, and Tesla I owned.

Thanks for your input 👍- helping others make informed decisions about the EQS vehicles is why I do these videos. Your experience helps this process 👍

Very helpful videos looking forward to getting one once I graduate! Very happy with what Mercedes’ has done with the EV market

And by then, they will be even better 👍

Excellent video as always. My EQS has the lightest interior so head rest pillows show signs of stains from head. Not sure if it’s from wife’s hair spray or my general perspiration in the the high Florida heat. How do you clean the head pillows?

I am not sure how to clean the pillows. I imagine there is a tag somewhere on/in it. Thanks for the report on how light color pillows and how they show the wear faster. That's something potential buyers need to know.

Parking lights are actually quite common in european cars albeit not mandatory. For example on Volkswagen you turn them on with the indicator stalk. Ignition on = indicators, ignition off = parking lights. So you can´t drive around with only your parking lights on, like in your EQS.

I found this out years ago, but have never seen them used this way in the US (except the one time I used them about 6 years ago)

@@EQS-Owner To be honest also in my area you see them rarely. Probably most owners don't even know that their car has parking lights.

Doubtful I will keep this vehicle as long as you because I’m looking for numerous improvements.
I’m hoping MB removes the nuisance start/stop button because tapping brake before drive is sufficient. Also, I want walk away locking provided no one else is in vehicle.
For some dumb reason, AC charging for the big battery is limited to 9.6 kW while most other EVs can do 11.5kW. EQS AC charging in Europe is much higher.
Long road trips are somewhat risky with our lousy charging infrastructure, especially Electrify America with very poor reliability and unresponsive service. Typically, they install only 4 stalls and 50% are down. I want a MB with the NACS connector so I can charge at one of the 20,000 Tesla Superchargers that have 99% uptime.

As these are their first models, I look forward to seeing how they improve. Remember, Tesla had been selling electric cars for a long time, so the competition has to learn some of these lessons. Thanks for your thoughts 👍

@@EQS-Owner You are 100% correct. I own both brands and probably expect too much from MB. They did an outstanding job on their first generation EVs. I’m anxious to try their next generation, hopefully not too far away.

Interesting video but I was left wondering why you chose a sedan over the SUV model.

    • @EQS-Owner
      @EQS-Owner  Před 6 měsíci

Easy answer: my parents are in their 80s and have a hard time stepping up into SUVs. Also, the SUV was not available when I bought this one.

@@EQS-Owner as i've tried both SUV and Sedan I can confirm that the sedan is same comfort as the SUV but has a better drive feeling. The SUV feels a bit to much like a boat and can cause some nausea due to the air suspensions. which barely if at all happens on the sedan. also looks nicer, is much cheaper, and get extra features for the difference if needed.

@@janbaas672 thank you for your thoughts on the vehicles. That's an experience I had not heard before. Further evidence that each driver has unique preferences and having sedans and SUVs in multiple sizes - while maintaining the Mercedes-Benz quality - gives each of us the chance to get the car we desire 👍
