This is true! Pancakes are SO GOOD!! They feel like switching from a wired Rift to a wireless Quest with how big of a difference they make to the experience
Lite would most likely have Fresnel, basically old lens assembly with new brains. I guess they really made many of them or just don't want to stop production of lens, because it got really massive and cheap.
Yeah the pancake lens are a life safer for sure. Honestly the mixed reality capability has been very nice too surprisingly.

I agree with you on the fracturing of the headsets thing except I think it may be possible to make a cheaper device if it only does 1 thing well.
Hi, is the quest game optimizer finaly in meta store or is there an alternative in store ?
Also those new Bobo grips look crazy!!!! Man if they did other color options I'd buy in a heartbeat (I currently have lime green grips and prefer the color over black)

Was so glad to kiss the Quest 2 lenses goodbye and enjoy the Quest 3 pancake lenses. I love BOBO VR but now that I have my HZLucki grips, I no longer need any other grips. And I do love the Rayban smart glasses-just hope the pair I get transitions like they are supposed to!
With noting the alien game is not q3 exclusive. It's also going on steam vr which means q2 could play it via steam link, questlink, virtual desktop, or link cable
i got a quest 2 today never had vr before. im loving it. for 199 cant go wrong but i did pay 25 more for elite strap.

Even if you buy a Quest 2 now, and are new to VR, you will be happy. There is plenty there to play.
If you are not new to VR, you know that they are phasing the Quest 2 out and know what you are getting.
And even then, if you have a powerful enough computer coming into VR you can do PCVR, so the Q2 is not completely left behind with exclusives per say.
@@dadrunkcanadianlive440 however, I would never recommend the Quest 2 because of the sweet spot. Pancake lenses rule them all at the moment.

Well I made the right choice. I have had a Quest 3 for several months now and enjoy it very much for playing my SIM racing PCVR games. I use a USB link cable and works very well.

Got my quest 3 a few months ago and I am absolutely in love! I skipped the 1 and 2 altogether, though my friend tried my 3 and convinced them to buy themself a 2!
I think it's this simple: If you LOVE vr and plan on playing that over most ways to play, have the money, etc... get the 3... and if you just LIKE vr, get the 2!
I don't think you can make a bad choice here, either way you're going to have fun
Remember, Q3 cons can’t track at high speeds. DONT GET Q3 CONTROLERS IF YOU PLAY HIGH SPEED GAMES… please get pro controllers!

2:30 when mark reviewed the apple vision pro in THAT video he alluded to the fact that Quest is an open platform.... basically stating what was confirmed in the pr release about the new headsets coming from other manufacturers...

Honestly, I think it's right for games to stop coming out for Quest 2, as we want to see the full power of games made just for Quest 3, I wish FNAF Help Wanted 2 would also come out just for quest 3 to be less limited.
Do you think that the 3rd party Horizon OS headsets will count as a Quest 3? Like this is the Asus Quest 3 powered by HorizonOS. Or just Asus VR powered by HorizonOS.

I bought Oculus Q1 second hand waited abd bought a Quest 3 and its glorious its exactly what I expected from VR 6 Years Ago (and I dont mean that in a bad way).
it great that meta opening their os to every competitor just so they themselves could push themselves knowing there other could dominate to the top of their places, much like how android os did which help android phone alot to where we are right now and comfortable state where any android phone is just as good to operate but just with different customer service and warranty etc etc

Quest 3 is my first VR headset. I gotta say I'm loving it. I would imagine the Q2 would still be a bargain for someone wanting to get into PCVR on the cheap.

I have Quest 2 and Quest Pro so I'll be waiting to see what happens. The Aliens game is certainly tempting me to get a Quest 3.
Shocking, the newest model is better than the older model. Who would have guessed....
That said, I have a Quest2, it works. I can't afford to buy a new model. Even if there is a discounted version of the 3, it's just not gonna change, until there is something that is lightyears ahead of where we are.
Can’t wait for a wireless OLED pancake lens headset to play PCVR, with all CZcamsrs preferring to showcase VR games on it as a result and the cost justified because all Horizon OS games can be played on it.

Definitely gonna get a quest 3 lite if/when that releases, I really have no interest in AR so a quest 3 would be a bit of a waste of money as I wouldn't the AR side of it. A quest 3 with cheaper lenses and panels and no AR would be great.
I have the quest pro but now that Batman is exclusive to quest 3 I will buy a quest 3 soon

So i really got a good timing to sell mine and upgrade. 200$, but with accessories that costs 80$ total, but strap had a cracked joint that i epoxied. For reference, new Q2 costs 300$ here and 170-180$ used without any accessories. I wrote that every game still works on Quest 2, this was truth at that time. When i saw more leaks of lite, it's was now or never. I feel bad for people who still selling Quest 1. At this moment i guess It would be a good thing to just give Q2 to some friend who is interested.

I’m speculating that Meta is just saying they’ll stay in the hardware game for now, but after the Q3 Lite and maybe a Q Pro 2, they’re going to get out of the hardware biz. If I were Lenovo, LG, ASUS, etc., having to compete with the other hardware makers PLUS Meta (who can undercut me and the others) makes no business sense. The only way I would agree to go public with this plan and risk worrying my shareholders would be if I had assurance from Meta that they were going to jump off the hardware ship in a year or two. I think Meta will become more like Valve with selling games and apps plus running social media and sucking up all kinds of data about users. Keep in mind what Meta’s business really is and where the money is made. All that said, I still love my Q2 and Q3 and what Meta has done for VR.

Meta doing this means they can lower their R&D costs because other companies will eat that for them.

They can promise all these new titles, but until they address what caused the faulty tracking issues of the quest 3 it’s pointless for future models. Imagine spending your hard earned money on something that doesn’t work a month in just because someone said it’s the latest and greatest out there.

good riddance quest 2, it's had it's time and with better hardware available we shouldn't be letting an old platform hold it back.
I'm hoping they offer this "lite" at a good price point to help people make that transition because it sucks to FINALLY see the kinds of IPs we've been waiting for forever on Quest only coming to one headset but I do agree the 2 will hold the 3 back as long as devs create for both :(
@jaybratt Honestly tho the $500 price point of the quest 3 is already incredible considering it's an XR standalone device. I wouldn't be surprised if this rumored new quest 3 headset, is going to be a slightly upgraded one and cost a bit more. Just can't see them releasing an even cheaper, better bang for your buck, quest 3 so soon.
Disagree. The Batman game could easily run on Quest 2 with downgraded graphics and resolution.
@BlackParade01 That all still requires the game to be optimized for the quest 2, which takes quite a bit of time and when it's all said and done, it may not even be worth it seeing as how bad the final product may end up looking or playing as. Then you have to deal with backlash and the hassle of refunding people that bought the game on the quest 2 and etc.
This basically happened with one of the forza Horizon titles, think it was 2 but might've been 3. Anyways, it came out for both the Xbox One and 360, which surprised people and a lot of people was happy at first but then people were disappointed with how bad FH2 was on the 360 and how different it was compared to the Xbox One.

The quest 2 has had it's time, why should developers lower spec their games just to make them run on old hardware when they could be making a much better product. This is the reason assassin's creed nexus was a let down in my opinion, it could've ran with much less jank and had wider scope on a more advanced platform.
Love Bobo, but full sillicone grips for ringless controllers is making me raise my eyebrows a bit. I already had a pair that claimed to not block any of the IR emitters, but I ended up straight-up throwing them away to replace with AMVR's knuckle straps and haven't looked back. Tracking volume is _way_ better leaving them nakey
Yeah, naw. At $200 to $250 and potentially cheaper in the near future, it is a perfect impulse buy for people barely curious. What VR needs right now is adoption. The bigger the market, the more and better the content. Standalone VR and AR do not have enough content to justify $500 for occasional use.
Of course, the 3 is better in every single way, that's why it costs double. But it should absolutely not be the only option, and a cut down quest 3 with how close they both are in performance would just be ar upgrade, and ar is barely worth trying on the quest 3 as it is.
The Bobo vr m3 pro has been giving me SEVERE neck pain, do not get that one.

I think VR gaming (not hardware) has taken a step back...
We have 2 sides... one side, super immersive, awesome graphics... and on the other we have potato games with gimmicky gameplay.
I recent started replaying Stormland... and its amazing... and its how old now? 4 years old? And since then we have "gorilla tag" style graphics (yes gameplay is good on that one)... but there are countless others which are just junky games (demos?) We need more tripA like content (because indies are killing it).
Hardware is pretty much there (Quest 3 could really use a better camera for passthrough. No idea why they cheaped out since Apple/Android phones have insane cameras that are "cheap" to buy.
