PSVR2 isnt just the HDR oled screens. It is gaming focused so the haptics including headset rumble and adaptive triggers are major features that set it apart. I get not everyone will care but I'd say the same for the ps5 dualsense controllers.

It's not a gaming focused headset. It's a gaming ONLY headset. It's a neat if you already have a ps5 to check out some vr experiences. However if you're serious about vr quest 3 is the obvious choice. Psvr looks so so bad when you have it on.

PSVR2 is more of a peripheral add on for PS5 and will not get Sony's full first party dedication. Once you add PCVR to the mix, PSVR2 is just a locked attachment in a closed eco system.

95% of time i play VR2 games in sitting mode. It is relax for me, not cardio. So wire is no problem for me. I also wear dioptric glasses and when I tried Quest 2, I had not enough space for my glasses. But the biggest reason is better graphics and really cool haptic feedback. These two things improves immersion. And better immersion means better VR. Thats is why I have chosen PSVR2.

I believe, it all comes down to the games. Both systems have exclusive titles. I bought my PSVR2 because, I am a Big Fan of Horizon Zero Dawn and Already have a PS5 so I bought the PSVR2 for that Call of the Mountain game. It was a Cool Experience being in that world but the game itself was disappointing. It felt more like a climbing game to me. If it wasn't for Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village I would of returned it. I just recently bought the Meta Quest 3 at Launch pre-ordered from Best Buy to take advantage of the free games. I got the 512GB Version so it came with Asgard Wrath 2 and 6 months Meta Subscription which is 2 free games every month making 13 free games in total. The first thing I noticed right away was how Sharp, Crisp, and Clear everything is compared to the Previous Quest 2 and even the PSVR2 the image on Quest 3 is much better due to the pancake lenses. PSVR2 made a huge mistake using Fresnel Lenses the image looks blurry even when in Sweet spot due to these lenses. You may not think it is blurry until you have Try'd a Headset with much better visuals. The Quest 3 offers games like Resident Evil 4 the Original which is one of the best experiences I have had in VR and I just picked up Iron Man VR which is even better experience. I am Happy to have both the PSVR2 and Quest 3 but, if you ask me which one I would keep if I had to get rid of one. I would go with the Quest 3. My Reason, is because, I also have a Powerful Desktop Gaming PC and I can plug this Quest 3 into it and play even more games. Via Steam, and Oculus/ Meta Quest Link. 😉👌

What about the Quest 3's black levels compared to PSVR2's? I hear they're dark grey on Q3....That's the ONLY reason why i'm hesitant on getting one.
The PSVR2 is worth owning just for RE Village, AND the upcoming RE4: VR mode coming this winter too. Other titles like Moss: Book 2, Vacation Simulator, Tentacular, Another Fisherman's Tale, the upcoming Vertigo 2 etc are worth a looky too.

@@NeonPizza80s The Black levels on the Quest 3 are fine. You can tell they’re black and not grey. It isn’t an Issue. I would still take a Quest 3 over my PSVR2 but, I am Happy to have both. I wouldn’t want to give up my PSVR2 it is Awesome! But, if you’re going to steal one from me. I would rather you stole it over my Quest 3. That’s how I feel about it. The Quest 3 is Awesome! Much better than I was expecting. PSVR2 is OLED so the Black level is deeper making the colors pop but, those fresnel lenses ruined it. If there was a way to swap out the lenses to one’s like in the quest 3 I believe the PSVR2 would look so much better. You have to see for yourself. Would be nice if Best Buy or other stores had a Quest 3 on display for people to try out along with PSVR2 this way people could see for themselves. 😉👌 Quest 3 is 🏆

After i pick up a Q3(125mb), silicone Light shield, EliteStrap+Battery, Charging Dock, Prescription lenses, high quality low latency wireless ear buds and some games i'll be looking at just over $15000 CAD. :P I Just wish Q3 would get some actual 3rd party devs on board, so we dont have to put up with another indie VR-budget cess pool.
If PSVR2 had pancake lenses, a wireless to PS5 connection, flat front visor, a quality silicone light shield and ring-less controllers it would of been a lot more attractive, up to date and appealing for many. I feel Sony should of ported over the Shark dive/encounter too from PSVR1's PSVR worlds. It's an incredible VR-theme park-like show piece that's universal. Anybody can enjoy it and the great white encounter holds up 100%. To leave that one in particular left for dead on PSVR1 is just baffling.

Preydog puts tons of games into vr like rdr2, cyberpunk, all of the re titles just to name a few and they looks as good or better than ps5. Quest as a standalone really isn’t a fair comparison, it’s just an awesome thing that you can play it with out anything else.

Being only a PC user, I find my interest in looking at the Quest 3. I do have a couple other tethered VR headsets which work well with my Gaming PC. If I do get the Quest 3, it would be my first wireless type VR headset which I think the quality has bumped up from the first Quest headsets. I disagree the OLED screen on PSVR 2 is better because it gives all blacks and better color’s when watching content or playing games it feels more premium. Also I have to always adjust both headsets to make them clear it’s not just put on and play on the Quest 3 like you said. As for the graininess on the PSVR2 is not an issue for me really it’s better than the distracting light bleed and bad uniformity on quest 3 screen. To be honest besides things being a little clearer on the Quest 3 I did not see much improvements over my Quest 2 everything I can do on my Quest 2 I can do on Quest 3 maybe except color passthrough and AR. If you are a gamer the PSVR2 is superior it’s a great headset and has the PS5 to give great gaming experiences.

    • @NeonPizza80s
      @NeonPizza80s Před 9 měsíci +2

PSVR2's OLED suffers from mura and has an awful sweet spot, plus blurry peripheral vision. and i hate that it trades motion clarity for brightness. Black levels and colors are really nice, but NOT oled TV black for whatever bizarre reason. And you can't get a decently bright image when you lower it's motion persistence down to 2ms(which is '0' on the VR brightness dial).
You're then stuck with only 60 measly nits, so you have to raise the VR brightness slider up a few notches to gain more brightness, but with each gradually click forward you gain head movement blur. Quest 2 had eye retina motion(zero head movement blur at sub 1ms) @100nits, which i'm guessing has carried on over to Q3. Hasn't been confirmed yet though!

hey man, i just want blur-free motion like those epic CRT tv's that we gamed on back in the late 80's, 90's and early 2000's. There shouldn't be ANY motion blur in VR period, and unfortunately the PSVR2 suffers from it.
Quest 3 should be fantastic, if it's anything like Q2, so no worries there. The motion blur rears it's head when you start cranking the PSVR2 Brightness dial. You can get a killer bright image with colors that pop, but then you're totally screwed with motion blur, and it will give most people the swirlies! ;)

You may need glasses possibly if you have to do any sort of adjusting on the quest 3, cause the lenses are clear edge to edge, as said by basically everyone. Not even close to the amount of adjusting everyone has to do on the psvr2. That’s just a fact not an opinion. And yes I said in the video the benefits of oled on psvr2, so ur right there, but the Mura def takes it down a notch. Also compared to quest 2 there’s many benefits to that and quest 3. Larger FOV, games updated look wayyy better, mixed reality games, louder and better speakers, smoother os. Higher resolution, pancake lenses, and so on. Complete improvement over the quest 2 in every department except battery life

@@UrGamingTechie I think I got 20/20 vision. What I was saying is you make the PSVR2 sound like it’s a hassle to put on and adjust in my personal experience it’s not as bad as you say. Both headsets when I put them on need some type of adjustment the Quest 3 is sometimes blurry until I adjust to make it clear so it’s not just put it on your face and everything is good like you say. And yeah the Quest 3 is an improvement over the Quest 2 but personally it didn’t wow me. I could easily keep playing on my Quest 2 and not care about the minor differences because it does everything the Quest 3 does except maybe the Ar thing no wait I can do that too just without color passthrough.

Didn't Sony roll with Fresnel lenses just to achieve a larger FOV while saving a buck? I would of rather of had less FOV, with a WIde sweet spot, sharper clarity, clear peripheral vision and the fact that pancake lenses would of allowed Sony to make the front visor flat instead of being the absolute bulk fest that it is. Plus Ring-less Controllers would of been great to, and an OLED display that's completely motion blur-free like the Quest 2. PSVR2 is almost blur free(with it's 2ms motion persistence. Quest 2 has sub 1ms) with '0' on the VR brightness slider dial, but by that point you've lost way too much brightness. Micro OLED would of resolved these issues but it's expensive. Maybe an LCD+Local dimming would of been a bit overall fit.
Sony already needs a PSVR2 revision with the following above and then some. They totally shot them selves in the foot with that thing. Still hanging on to mine for Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4: VR Mode, potential Astro Bot Rescue Mission port & Sequel, PSVR World's 'Ocean Descent Shark dive' port(if that even happens) etc.
I haven't given the Q3 a test drive yet, but i'm worried about the black levels, and i hear colours look less vibrant and duller than PSVR2's. Wish Q3's LCD had local dimming :(

I have both and I prefer the clarity of the Quest 3. Grainy mura and fresnel with tiny sweet spot of PSVR2 is a huge bummer. Quest 3 image quality is simply fantastic, and versatility to use with PCVR is a huge plus over PSVR2 in my mind. PSVR2 still has it's strengths. Out of the box comfort blows Quest 3 out of the water and colors are good. However, I totally see Quest 3 as my daily driver going foward and would buy any multi-platform title on PCVR to play on Quest 3 over the PSVR2.

That makes the edges blurry when you’re playing higher quality games which defeats the purpose. Should be ok if you use a strong PC though. The dynamic foveated rendering on PSVR2 renders whatever you’re looking at to the highest resolution so that the edges aren’t blurry.

I have used both and I think that's a very fair comparison. The PSVR2's advantage is it can handle much more advanced games. There's nothing like No Man's Sky or Gran Turismo or Resident Evil Village on Quest 3 (although maybe now Meta will finally get a decent racing game of some kind!) As you say though, there is a very limited amount of these games to actually play. Also you mention the missing social aspect on PSVR2 but it's also an absence of anything but games. You can;'t even watch VR videos by yourself. However there are some issues with Quest also. Battery life is not good. I've found I can play for about 2 hours. And I would say if you are a serious player you will need the more expensive 512GB model,. 128GB will not bey enough for many people.

Yeah the PSVR is lacking an internet browser but it’s better for gaming because of the power of the PS5 and Sony exclusives. I like the fact that you can play any PS5 games inside the headset I feel like I can get lost in there all day with the nice OLED blacks. I could connect the Quest 3 on my pc to get steam games running on it but it’s just more effort. Also playing the new Spider-Man 2 inside the headset is gonna be great can’t do that on the Quest 3. Yeah you are right the Quest 3 I feel like I have to charge it every 5 sec it’s pretty annoying.

If you want big cinematic games with max immersion like you would expect from flat screen games, then the PSRV2 is the one to get.
If you want VR mini games thay will be fun to play in vr but not what you would not expect to play on flat screen then Quest 3 would be your choice.

For me, it’s an easy choice in the end - Quest 3.
The PSVR 2 is amazing in most ways, but not in the most important aspects. It has an incredibly small sweet spot that’s hard to find and even harder to keep. The lenses fog up constantly. And the headset leaves you with intense red marks on your face, more so than any other headset I’ve tried. All of those three reasons combined sadly puts me off from using it as much as I want to. It’s a hassle to use.
That is a shame, because the haptics in the headset and controllers are incredible, the eye tracking is amazing and the games are impressive for the most part.
The Quest 3 on the other hand has an large sweet spot and next to no foggy lenses. The sharpness in the headset is great and mixed reality is wonderful. I know I’ll use my Quest 3 so much more than PSVR 2.

if the Quest 3 had 4K per eye, a micro-oled display, 120d FOV and a lot more power under the hood and actual 3rd party support from Capcom, Konami etc it would be incredible.
However, 2K+ per eye, LCD dark grey black levels, XBOX360 'minus' looking visuals, and the fact that 99% of it's game library are budget indie VR games won't win most gamers over.
I think Sony has a better chance if they do a PSVR2 revision with a wireless to PS5 connection, pancake lenses, flat front visor, ring-less vr controllers, micro-oled display and giving us more AAA exclusives.

  • @Cujobob
    @Cujobob Před 9 měsíci +3

The reason the pancake lenses use LCD is because they require more light. OLED panels like those in the PSVR2 don’t get nearly as bright, the fresnel lenses simply require less light output from the screen.
Newer micro OLED screens will get significantly brighter, but the costs are still really high. This is a major reason why products that use them are all expensive. In the $500 range, you have to choose a compromise. Personally, I think the PSVR2 has a terrible sweet spot and it’s annoying to set up.
Lastly, I love the facial interface on the PSVR2. Blocks out all the light and is comfortable. The headset haptics are a game changer, too.

PSVR2 is still worth owning just for Resident Evil village and the upcoming RE4: Remake ;) AND if you don't plan on getting a beefy PC gaming rig for Quest 3, than PSVR2 will be home to several quality PC VR ports like Moss Book 2, Vertigo etc.
However, the VR2's cable, small sweet spot, weaker clarity, oled mura, god rays, glare, chunky fat front visor, cheap rubbery light shield, Giant rings surrounding the controllers and the fact that it's OLED display trades motion clarity for brightness really annoy the hell out of me. But it's got POWER, deep oled blacks, richer vibrant colours, superior controller haptics and adaptive triggers and exclusives you wont find anywhere else.
I just wish they'd port over the Shark encounter from PSVR Worlds on PSVR1. It was incredible and easily the scariest thing I've ever experience in VR period. The fact that 'that' VR-theme park attraction has been left for dead on VR1 is just baffling.

I sold my psvr 2 for multiple reasons. The lens quality is good but finiding sweat spot is impossible. Everytime you move headset or remove, you will spend 5 mins setting it again. Also, the clarity is not so good when you watch content like prime video or disney movies. You will notice blurry pitcure. There is no movies app so you are stuck with bad user experience. The bigger issue is lack of content. There are 3-4 games to play are done. $500 will sit there catching dust. Sony doesn't allow uploading and watching videos the device is useless. So I think I'm going to be getting a PSVR2 soon, therefore I have been learning about the PSVR2 for about a week and a half, but as I was searching through the internet and started seeing "PSVR2 vs Meta Quest 3" videos; "PSVR2 vs Meta Quest 2" as well, which shocked me. I mean is that even a competition since PSVR2 is next generation and the Quest 2 is older then I would know, but back on track, at first I thought between the Meta quest 3 and the PSVR2 From what I've heard PSVR2 was the one for me and after watching a couple dozen videos I still do. High end graphics not feel great for my eyeballs but tend to increase immersion. Which I thought was the point in VR right? (Besides maybe having fun)

You can definitely watch movies on the PSVR2 ive watched them and several tv shows on it and has a huge movie screen to do so but it would be nice if there were a place to socialize on it like the meta headset I love both i would also like to note the wire on the PSVR2 seeing that its non wireless the wire feels non existent and i always forget its there and is super long also because it is a wired headset the resolution lighting and shadow effects on the graphics in PSVR2 are second to none to date. I'm loving it the headsets amazing I have sold a lot of Oculus / Meta products they're both really fun headsets and also share a lot of the same gaming content. The thing I love about PlayStation 5 is there solo campaign story driven games so for me it was a no brainer happy gaming everyone cheers 👍

The answer is usually no, so the next best thing is to shit on the thing they cannot afford.. of course the PS VR 2 is superior, everyone knows it, only salty jealous ridden children say it’s not because they don’t see themselves owning one in the future, just look at the catalogue of games the ps has compared to the quest! People need to understand that there will be a time when most games on the PS will be compatible with the headset, that’s what PlayStation is aiming for, they want to own the fr universe.. they have the resources to do so. I have both quest 3 and ps vr 2 and I can tell you the ps vr 2 is the better accessory by far.. that’s an honest opinion!

@@UrGamingTechie let’s not forget PSVR2 released last year compared to Meta which has been around longer. It just needs more time to develop Sony is releasing about 19 or more titles from exclusives to games already on the Quest in the coming months. While Meta has more games because obviously it’s been around much longer it hasn’t had a killer game. It’s been out 3-4 years and beat saber is the most popular game still. Literally the same games released 3 years ago are the top recommended on the Quest store. Also there is a lack of AR games on the quest both headsets are relatively new and we can all benefit if games weren’t exclusive and released at the same time. In the end if Sony can get games released on Meta plus its own exclusive tittles it will ultimately have more games. It’s just up to Sony if it’s going to make the investment because as far as I know Meta has no exclusive deals with these developers so Sony can get all the Meta games.

Quest 3 is better without a doubt, I have a PSVR 2 and I barely used it since getting it earlier this year, you have to constantly charge the PSVR 2 controllers, no backwards compatibility with PSVR 1 games, not that many games yet, the games have bugs and glitches still, the screen resolution is blurry at times, Sony should of waited a little longer to release the PSVR 2 with pancake lenses instead of fresnel lenses, you can do a lot more on the Quest 3, better screen resolution, better software, better lenses, wireless, better controllers, better library of games and apps, Standalone and PCVR compatibility, easier and more convenient to use, the PSVR 2 has been limited so far, the Quest 3 wins hands down

    • @NeonPizza80s

PSVR2 is a very conflicting head set, and yet when it's incredible it's INcredible. Resident Evil Village and the upcomming Resident Evil 4: VR mode say hi. You will NOT get experiences like that on Q3, aside from being exclusive to sony.
And yet, I can't stand my PSVR2's horrible sweet spot, mura, blurry peripheral vision, and the fact that it's OLED trades motion clarity for brightness. Baffling design/feature decisions by Sony. They truly shot themselves in the foot. :P
And to think, if they would of used pancake lenses, the clarity would of been sharper, the sweet spot would of been WIDE, peripheral vision much clearer, and it would of allowed them to reduce the front visor bulk dramatically. A Micro-OLED display would of been ideal but that would of just jacked the price up. Maybe an LCD + Local dimming would of been a better match, while adopting the same tech used in Quest 3's controllers so they could get rid of those annoying rings.
As is, the PSVR2 aesthetically speaking is a big fail. bulky cumbersome dated looking headset & controllers, with an awful sweet spot and NO Vr eco system. It's like they weren't even trying.

@@NeonPizza80s You honestly sound like you work for Meta. I have both. They each have their pros, and cons. The PS VR2 can provide PCVR level gaming IF the games are fully optimized for it. And has some great exclusives. The Quest is awesome for the wireless portability, and massive game library. The battery life in the PS VR2 controllers certainly last longer than the battery on the Quest headset itself. If you’re using the pass-though on the Quest, you’re looking at 1/12 to 2 hour play time max. So yes, neither is perfect. If I didn’t already have a PS5, then I’d probably choose the Quest as the winner. ✌

The PSVR2 is good looking and it weights less than the Quest it even has haptic tech that the Quest doesn’t. It was released last year and has nothing to wish for from the Quest 3 maybe besides the AR color passthrough but I’m Sure Sony would’ve released that if it was released this year. Also no ecosystem lol the PS5 is the ecosystem you forget Sony is a gaming company powered by the PS5 behemoth. Meta is a social media company. Sony can get any game on PSVR if it wishes give it time in the coming months alone PSVR is getting 19 games not to mention you can play all PS5 normal games on the headset. I bet my money on a gaming company to get more games than a software company like Facebook.

Quest 2 showed me a better path at the expense of more primitive graphics which are still pretty good.
