    The seller might have bought it as a non runner for a small amount of money, and replaced the motor in it to sell it on. The fact that the C clip was half off means that as you suspected, someone, probably the seller, had had that machine apart before. The exhaust filter cover is awkward to get off on these without a screwdriver, and if you are heavy handed, its easy to snap the clips off - its a common problem, as the plastic is brittle on older Dysons. He likely bought it to "refurb" it and sell it on to make money - essentially, doing what you yourself do. He broke it, but thought that the average buyer would not even notice. He found out that you are in the same business of refurbing these machines, so he didnt want to send it to you as you would have found out the filter housing was damaged and there were tools missing. He got found out. But now you have the problem that you cannot prove the damage did not happen in transit. I believe you live in Illinois, and he sent it from Alabama - thats a long way. Things get damaged in transit , and I think thats the excuse he will give, as you cannot prove the machine was broken when it left him as there is no picture evidence of the damaged clips on the filter housing. So yeah, think he will say the damage happened in transit and you had no insurance in place against damage of items in transit. Its a difficult one. You dont seem to have much luck with those Dysons, as I recall you paid a lot of money not long ago for a DC07 Low Reach, and that was not worth the money either. I feel for you, and hope you might get some resolution for this machine being damaged and missing tools.

      He did just that, saying that I broke it when I opened it. Obviously making excuses for shipping a damaged product. The other 07 low reach just had the bin latch break and the clutch went out completely, so that one will be sent back. Offerup does not offer refunds or returns, so I pretty much have to take the loss. On the bright side, it seems like a front motor assembly is all I really needs. At least It runs well, so I'm content. The seller threatened to assault me after I failed to respond for a couple hours, and considering they are still trying to make me double pay for a broken item, I've reported them. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. The seller is still harrasing me asking that I pay when I already did. Bad experience. But in my opinion worth it to get this machine.

      @@IntellitechStudios Well if he's threatened to assault you you have proof of it on your phone, the entire conversation. You will also have proof from offerup and therefore also from your bank on your statement that a payment had been made and it will show who the recipient was, so as long as you have that, then there aint much he can do. Its not as if he lives in the same state as you, and I cant imagine he's gonna get on a plane and come to your house to assault you over a broken second hand vacuum cleaner. People like him are scumbags - all mouth - threatening this and threatening that. You might not be able to get your money back, unless you paid on a credit card and you could maybe do a charge back, claiming faulty goods were supplied, not as described - but thats opening another can of worms and things then get really acrimonious between you. I used to sell vacuums on ebay, years ago, I refurbed Dysons to sell on, but I had a policy of buyer must collect and pay when they had seen the machine working at my house, then they could not claim I sent a damaged machine. I never posted my vacuums - for the reason being I didnt want people claiming damaged goods and ebay always sides with the buyer even when they are blatently lying. Nowadays I dont do vacuum refurbs any more, but I'm always interested in vacuums though, and your channel is becoming one of my favourites for vacuum related stuff. Still dont know your actual name though - unless thats on purpose, I shall just call you Mr Intellitech, lol

    I used to have a dyson dc14 and it was purple and gray and it broke so it had to get thrown in the trash. If we could try to fix it then we might still have it but now i'm getting a brand new dyson dc14

    Uh buddy... you’d be scamming him. No matter what if a sale is canceled the customer ALWAYS gets the money back. It may take a few business days or you might have issues with your bank, but if a sale is canceled and you don’t buy it again, the seller gets no money out of the sale. Also, if the seller fails to ship out the vacuum in the allotted time the sale cancels AUTOMATICALLY. Even with a canceled sale the shipping label still works. So, by not buying the vacuum again and only paying once, this guy got nothing out of the sale. It’s not fishy, it’s how the platform works. Granted I’m only writing this 10 minutes in, but that’s just sorta how it works. (EDIT) So I finished the video and here’s what I think happened. I think he bought the vacuum second hand and didn’t even notice the cracks and chunks missing from the filter cover, because he clearly doesn’t know much about vacuums (He called it a animal in the title I mean come on) and I think the crack in the motor housing came from shipping due to improper packaging and the toughness of USPS. But that’s quite a story you’ve created.

      @IntellitechStudios  Před 3 lety

      There was no "story" I have all the messages archived. He got his payment, I know because it finally hit his account about a week later and I was notified that the payment had finally gone through. If he had successfully gotten me to pay again, he'd be getting double the money for a damaged and improperly described item. I told him that once the payment was refunded from the cancel, that I would still honor the original amount and pay despite the damage. That's when he kept messaging me over and over again when I still had no money and no way to pay again, which in hindsight was the correct action. He threatened to assault me when I refused to give him my payment info and tried to work out payment, even though he initially offered to take less because of the damage. At that point i had no interest in continuing the conversation and simply waited for payment to clear, which it did. At that point I gave up and purchase the parts to fix it later, and now the vac is fine. In no way would that me be scamming. He sent a broken machine that clearly had been tampered with hoping I wouldnt notice, and tried to cancel the sale to confuse me into a double paying for a faulty item, and got clearly angry when I refused to comply, despite me being respectful and understanding the entire time. He was running a scam, and he failed. I've been scammed enough times to know when someone makes a mistake and when people are trying to prey on people's empathy. Nothing in this case adds up to anything but malice. And besides, he still in the end got payed for a junk machine. You can see more details in other comments. It worked out in the end for him, and it could've been worse for me, considering the thing did at least run okay.

    • @IntellitechStudios
      @IntellitechStudios  Před 3 lety

      Also I've bought plenty of item on offerup to see how it works. It clearly showed that HE cancelled the item, not offerups automatic system, so it was intentional, not just him being slow with shipping.
