I think missy took his death the hardest mostly because George was always there for her and he was definitely missy’s favorite parent. Everybody took is death hard but missy took it the hardest no questions asked.
Fascinating how Young Sheldon could not process his dad's death. I'm sure in his mind, his reality had been shattered, but he did not have the emotional ability to understand the depth of his feelings. In TBBT Sheldon wanted the ability to read minds, not the ability to be empathetic. His IQ was very high, his Emotional Q was very low.
