  • After travelling with this Smittybilt 2784 awning for over 5000miles using it in snow, sun and rain I have to say I’m quite happy with it.
In this video I go over the installation and set up with some close ups of the quality.
    Here’s the awning I used-

Its clear to see the quality of life improvements that having this awning brings.
I believe that it may also be converted into an Add-A-Room with the additional wall tarps kit.
It really enhances the quality of life with one's travel cabin, in winter or summer.

Yeah so true…. The trailer is so small we really appreciate a little more living space 😄
The problem I found with add a rooms is my trailer is a bit to tall I haven’t found one that is long enough… might have to build my own.

I bought a similar awning from Amazon and love it! Really helps to have more 'usable space' with these 'tiny homes on wheels...

100% if you have a small trailer they really are a must. Especially out camping in the rain or snow. 👍

@@waysoutback I like the 270 degree awnings that fan out. But, our winds in Oklahoma would kill one of them quickly

Uni strut mounting point is a solid idea for anyone mounting to a 'rounded top' cargo trailer.

Completely agree, it’s been holding up perfectly. Do you have a rounded top trailer with an awning?

Stop it Zac! Your killing me. My 9 x 12 green poly tarp with old tent poles and a 1000 ft. of twine running in every direction, is looking real hillbilly now? Nice job though!

      🤣🤣
Nothing wrong with tarps…. I just have them outside of camera view 😁👍

Hi again. I mounted my awning on the van. While I travel mode I noticed the front appeared to be 3-5 inches lower than the rear. My unistrut connections were still secure. The 5 aluminum pop rivets which secure the 2 backbone plates with the vinyl cover sandwiched between had loosened with 3 being totally free. Quick fix. Re-drilled to 7/16th, bolted also using large body washers instead of re-riveting.
Don't use mine enough. Heavenly Father made my legs reach the ground but alot of things are still out of my grasp without a ladder or stool.

Great video Zac ! Money and time well spent. We have a Carefree awning on our Escape 17. We picked up two fabric shower curtains with a leaf pattern that we use to close the ends when it rains. They were very inexpensive and found they make a difference if there is any wind, also can provide additional shade, privacy at times.

That’s a great idea I will look around for some 👍

I have a 6x10 much like yours and have worked with uni-strut for many years. How did you attach it to the trailer ?

I just bolted it through the frame, but I’m planning on using threaded inserts when I remodel.
