  • Minibars refers to the refrigerator in a hotel room which contains a selection of drinks or snacks. Usually, the price of those items are very expensive. There are a few reasons for that high price. The first one is the convenience. Since those items are put in a location which is so convenient for people who are not very care about the money, they will take them although they are expensive. Otherwise, they need to put on their clothes and walk for 20 minutes to the convenience store to get them. For those people who don't want to pay a high price for the wines in the minibar, they may choose to go to the hotel restaurant or bar to get some alcoholic drinks, which also increase the revenue of the hotel. Moreover, the hotel will need to hire staff to manage those minibar items for each room. They need to check them frequently to ensure they didn't pass the expiry day. Since only a small percentage of those items will be consumed, the rest of them need to be thrown away after the expiry day. All of those increase the cost of maintaining a minibar in the hotel, and thus make it very expensive.

"...staff to manage those minibar items for each room. They need to check them frequently to ensure they didn't pass the expiry day..." Same for supermarkets, they have to check way more items but it is not more expensive than in hotels. Lmao.
