This is where I'm struggling. Because so many people use the phrases interchangeably (like retargeting versus remarketing). I am trying to find a good geofencing DSP and am certain Google Ads wouldn't be considered one... am I wrong?
@@AlecKirby geofencing is new to most people and 99% of “marketers” don’t understand it and therefore use the term incorrectly. Geofencing is the technology that allows you set a digital fence around a building, block, or city on which you can gather data from cellphone users. (Mostly androids)
@@carlosmitchell6543 Okay that makes sense considering it is collected from app data. So therefore, Google Ads wouldn't be considered one or at least lacking in the technology since it can only get to 1 kilometer around a location (which I wouldn't consider "hyperlocal").
You can do it better with Facebook Ads, but Google Ads doesn't allow you to target specific buildings at this time. In Facebook Ads, you can set a targeting radius around a building and then use excluded radius targeting to make sure that you only reach people in a specific area. This video shows the best way I know how to do it with Google Ads, which is not quite Geofencing, but it's as close as you can get.
Maybe I'm missing something but this is location based targeting, there are no push notifications, correct? When I hear Geo Fencing I think of ads that are sent as texts as people enter an area.
I understood geofencing as creating area even as small as a section of a store that a customer would go into and be then pinged to get ads. Yours refers to cities etc. Am I misunderstanding something?

Depends on how you define "geofencing". I've always used the term when referencing programmatic advertising on a hyperlocal level rather than geotargeting which is what this video is covering. I'm still learning how people use the phrases because their are a LOT of discrepancies depending on who you ask. These needs to be cleared up because I am almost positive Google Ads would NOT be considered a geofencing DSP (because they can't do hyperlocal targeting).
I would like to know why Google AdsWords made me no authorized charges of two withdrawals of 355 USD in about two minutes from my credit card without having even a count. I was astonished so I blocked my credit card and sent immediately a message to Google for a logical explanation. The Google complains department told me that I must wait until they look for the problem. No answer so far. Please if you know about what could it happened, just tell me the technical truth. I’m now afraid of using Google products such as so many people in the world. Thanks. Never will I use an application like that. Neither would I follow your courses too. Because of the fact that it surely involves you as a Google AdsWords instructor. So please help me. Thanks again.
This is not geofencing as I understand it. This is geotargeting. Geo fencing is when you draw a boundary around a building or area, and when anyone crosses that boundary, they are served with your ads. That is not this.
