Baxter Cycle is a real destination bike shop. Worth going to if even just to look. That back room has over 60 vintage bikes. There are other areas with more bike but those spaces don't lend themselves to videos. Love this shop!
Thank you to Baxter cycle for allowing us to video these things. I think their oldest motorcycle is from the earliest part of the 1900s meaning they have over 100 years of motorcycle range at their shops. :-)
Beautiful bike. I wish that someone would buy the AJS company and resurrect this fine company. There was a lot of innovations that AJS came out with that helped the motorcycle community as a whole. Thanks for showing us this beautiful machine. Take care. Vaughn
I wonder how they made that much HP with such low compression ... for example, comparing to a Himalayan with fuel injection and OHC , its pretty much on par ...
Biggest issue when buying one of these bikes nowadays is worn oil pump worm drive, leading to excessive wear in the aluminium crankcase. This results in poor oil savaging/return. Run the bike for a good 10 minutes then remove the crankcase drain bolt and collect the oil, with a good oil pump there should only be about an egg cup full of oil collected

It's a good looking bike/company with a real history.
AJS are owned by the Chinese now building 125cc bikes that are sold here in the UK and I guess around the world too.

Great bike , I've got a 1946 model . Mine is a bit different to that one . Mine normally has 1 or 2 black drops of oil under it when stopped 😀

I actually wondered the same thing.
Had to be low compression because of the low grade of fuel that was available in the UK in the years following WW2. Beautiful bike.
