    It’s the passion he has that makes it brilliant, along with the cars and planes should be used and not displayed as museum pieces attitude.
    Come to think of it, too, who doesn’t want a Jag D-Type and a spitfire?

    As a kid in the 60s, I remember building highly detailed scale model plastic replicas of the D and E-Type Jags. I did things like using my mom's black sewing thread to make realistic spark plug wire looms. I painted the E-Type red and the D-Type a proper British racing green, both with black interiors.

    Quite a few errors in his Spitfire 'origin' story but anyway his spirit is in the right place and so is his passion. Bravo for keeping them flying and driving.

    Hi Steven, great to meet you yesterday and watch the Spitfire dancing around the skies over Lee on the Solent.
    Forgot to say I work in a large infant school close by and our children are fascinated watching and listening to the Spitfire as it flies over our grounds. Any chance you could do something for them? Terry

    Absolutely loved it.
    I'm still slack jawed ,
    I hope more of you guys and girls with the super duper type stuff come out of your shells and do these sort of vids.
    Don't be shy and don't be embarrassed!
    Much appreciated.
    Thanks 😍

    Well, all I've got to say is wow, just wow. I do not have a D Type or Spitfire but I have owned my E Type for the last 35 years and I have owned a Cessna 152 so I do understand His love of His toys. It was great fun to drive to the airport, park the E Type beside my Cessna do a preflight and take off in both vehicles when their time came.

    the smile at 9.10 is probably the happiest, genuine smile in history! Well done and congrats from Holland. Thank God there are people like you and Jay Leno that provide so many beautiful moments for us, the smaller (5 classic cars now) collectors. The enthousiasm and dedication - in my opinion - remains the same however, no matter what the value of the cars...

    Mitchell’s Supermarine , Schneider Trophy planes can effectively be described as the parents of Spitfire so although not a carbon copy, the Spit probably wasn’t “Built from scratch”.

    At 4mins20 you mention the fin. I think your passion overruled the facts . Although l cannot precisely tell you when fins were first used on motor cars but didn't Seagrave and Cambell use them on their L.S.R. vehicles. Isn't it bizarre that the D-type is probably worth twice as much as the Spitfire! And yes you must pinch yourself on a regular basis. P. S. It was a Canadian who designed the elliptical wing for the Spitfire.

  • @blxtothis
    @blxtothis Před 5 lety +2

    The first vertical wing on a car, nope, try Bluebird and Thunderbolt, pre-WW2 behemoths that went for the World Land Speed records.

      Yes. DB3S, ca.1955. Attended a MM retrospective many years ago. Moss was commanding 722 SLR that evening. We positioned on the outlets side, I some thirty years on still smell it. Enjoyed over dinner with a DB3S pilot/owner before the start...

    Oh what a lucky man he is.
    The Germans, forbidden form aircraft development after WW1, in the 1930's used race cars to develop supercharged aircraft engines.
    The English in the 1950's used their aircraft developments and wind tunnels to make dominant race cars.
    In the USA I am trying to use all this yet we are stopped from all new advances by BIG OIL men - since all my cars and aircraft would exhaust pure water - my life has been destroyed. Even in a time of global war.

    I'm sorry, but this guy really doesn't know what he's talking about!
    'Every car that exists today' does not rely on subframes connected to a monocoque ... and it's HILBORN fuel injection not Holborn!!!
    Really expect better from Goodwood!

    • @andymckee53
      @andymckee53 Před 5 lety +1

      The Spitfire is NOT a true monocoque. It has a stressed skin but also internal ribs, frames, longerons and bulkheads. And you are quite correct about the car misconceptions too. It is Gerald Swain who needs to S T F U and do some research.

    • @gordonanderson3111

    The concentration of wealth, to allow a British individual to live with such affluence, is the result of a history of crimes against humanity, and just a legacy of racism and pure evil throughout the world. Justice will come
