Yeah I think they respected her a lot . Plus she played in about 10 finals in Germany that I can think of . 6 in Hamburg 3 in Berlin 1 in Leipzig And won 8 or 9 doubles titles in Germany also . Plus they knew she could give steffi a good challenge
